There are certain things that a being cannot live through life without. Breathing, water, atleast some type of food substance every now and again is mandatory for anything seeking to live even a little while and to keep said being healthy. At least, those are the official things. There's so much more that you need subconciously that most aren't even aware of.

The simple touch, is one of them. If people were constantly moving robotically through life without touching each other at all, the world would be a damper place, indeed. Humans crave the feeling of another, it lets them know they're not alone. It also makes them feel as if they're real. It's as if you're having a nightmare and someone shakes you awake out of concern. Some, after being roused from sleep, still believe they are immersed in their dreams. It's the soothing touch of another being that pulls them out of their reverie and back into the real world. Touch is an inascapable and crucial part of ones existance.

Another thing every being needs to feel, is love. Even the most archaic and ruthless of animal needs to love and be loved. They might not know it, but deep inside of them they crave that affection. Love is kind of a partner in crime with touch. A gental carress can make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Feeling loved lets almost every species on the planet know that there's a reason. A reason behind the kill you just made, your family. A reason you didn't kill yourself today, your friends. A reason you care, the possibilities. It lets us know that we're not living our lives like ants in an ant hill. Mundanly. Constantly working, struggling to survive and for what? To be, quite literally, crushed in the end. Love is an emotion, a feeling, that everything that breathes is burdened with at some point or another. No matter how much you deny it, you love something or someone. You have to, it's in your nature.

So, pray tell, what happens when you are denied these basic needs? Do you die a slow death from some wicked form of malnurishment? Do you slowly slip through the cracks in life, having no idea why?

Loki had to learn this lesson the hard way. He was never sure why his parents, and he uses this term loosly, never showed him the same affection they showed his brother(once again, very loosly) either verbally or physically.

It wasn't until Loki was sitting in an Asgardian cell did he contemplate these mishappenings in his life. He did not pity himself, but more over scorned those who denied him these essential things. Loki sat there, seething in his rage until his brother came to collect him for a hearing.

He momentarily let himself be calmed by the steadying hand on his shoulder before roughly shrugging it off. Or, however roughly he could manage, chained as he was.

A/N: This will continue onto Loki's Asgardian hearing and his punishment. What do you think so far?
