First, I have to say (as a warning) this is not a legit chapter. So, I began this story a while back and around the last chapter of this story I was going through a lot of life stuff that was out of my control with my family. Let's just say I was at the hospital a lot; I don't really want to get into it because it's a very long story. As a result, I stopped writing for a while because I just couldn't do it and was too stressed. Now, that everything is relatively normal again, for the past year I kept looking at this story, trying to get myself to finish it. Since I hate reading unfinished stories on this site because usually they are AMAZING stories, I really wanted to finish this on principle alone and because this story had so much support. However, I just can't. I pretty much had this story planned out and knew how it was gong to end, but my writing style has changed and I just don't have the inspiration to write it out. I feel like if I tried, it would just be forced and bad. But, when I was still writing this story, I actually wrote out the ending. I'm not sure how many of you are still reading/following this story, but I wanted to get this excerpt out just so this story could have some closure.

So, this is the ending of The Catalyst: Story of Sam. A couple of things to know before reading. This chapter was going to go into the final battle against Vlad and his army. The Far Frozen, ghost hunters, Danny's family, Valerie, Danny, Tucker, and Sam all team up to fight. They begin to win but of course, Danny has to face off with Vlad, thinking that he was the one that had to end it by killing him. But, Vlad gets the upperhand and starts to beat Danny. When it's obvious that his is winning, Vlad starts to gloat, talking about how Danny should have been grateful when he took him from his family(the usual rant). Before Vlad can deliver the last blow to Danny (intending to kill him), Jack takes out Vlad with the killing blow after overhearing everything and discovering Danny was his son.

I want to say thank you for all the reviews/support. Also if there are any questions about the ending or the story/how it was going to go, feel free to message me, I'll answer (although like I said, I'm not too sure anybody cares at this point haha) Maybe one day I will make this chapter a proper ending chapter. So without further ado, here is the ending excerpt.

"Nice shot," Danny said to his dad through a bloody smile.

Jack just stared at his son, his expression devastated.

"Danny!" Maddie screeched, sprinting past me and sliding beside her son, taking the top half of him in her arms.

"I can't lose you, not again." She's crying, sobbing. "My boy, my baby boy." She clutched him in his arms, sobbing, agony in her features. The only agony a mother could feel for her child. "You have to be alright," she whispered fiercely. "I won't lose you, I won't."

She kept raking her hand across his face, in his hair, over his arm. "I just got you back," she whimpered quietly. The tears now overflowing, spilling out from her eyes.

"Mom," he said, looking a bit taken aback. He clutched her arm. "I'm okay. I'm going to be okay."

I felt the tears I was trying to hold back stream down my face. I didn't voice it, but I was feeling my own kind of agony. I knew he was going to be okay, but I really thought, for one horrible second, that Vlad was going to kill him. That the boy I was in love with was going to die.

I choked back a sob. I immediately wrapped by arms around myself as if by some way it would hold everything I was feeling inside me. I didn't want to cry; I didn't want to look sad. I wanted to be strong.

"Sam?" I heard him call.

I looked up then to see him staring at me.

I forced a smile his way, trying to ignore all the bruises and scratches on his face. I focused on his bright green eyes.

"Oh, Sam," he said understandingly. I didn't have to say anything. I didn't know what he saw in my expression, but he got up as quickly as he could manage, stumbling a bit in the process. He stood, his mother and father getting up with him, both giving him wary expressions, worried that he was going to collapse any minute. He gave them a reassuring look before taking me into his arms. His warm touch tightening around me, making me feel safe. I burrowed my face into his chest, allowing myself to take one shuddering breath, to release all the pent up emotions I felt since the moment I saw him go down.

He rubbed circles in my back. "It's over. Don't worry, it's over," he kept repeating, trying to soothe me.

And, he was right. It was over. It was finally over.

I found him on the Op's Center balcony. He was leaning over the railing looking over the city. His black hair tousled by the wind. He looked good; there was no sign of the injuries from the battle that was merely a week ago.

I joined him, leaning over the railing next to him, nudging him with my shoulder. "Hey."

He smiled back at me. "Hey."

I looked out to the city then. Most of it managed to escape the battle and the damages that did occur were being taken care of by the City's Clean-Up program, a program that was created and funded by Maddie Fenton since she recently became the sole acquirer of all of Vlad Master's money, trusts, and possessions. Something Danny didn't seem to be too surprised about. He told me he guessed with Vlad's obsession with his mom, that Vlad truly did believe his mom would love the man eventually.

"How is it? Being back?" she said, still looking at the skyline. She tried to give Danny his space for the past week, knowing it must have been a lot to handle, with his parent's constant questions and general overbearingness.

"It's kind of weird being really back," he said, leaning against the railing. "Mom and Dad are trying, but they're getting the hang of the whole half ghost for a son thing."

"How are you guys explaining the whole dead son magically appearing?"

He smirked. "They are saying that I was one of the victims saved from Walker's prison by Phantom and the hunters. Mom thought of that one. Pretty good, huh?"

"So, everybody thinks Fenton and Phantom are completely different people. That's going to be kinda difficult to keep pulling off," I said, eyeing his amused expression.

He shrugged. "I have you and Tucker to help me with that. Sure, I'll probably have to lay low as Fenton, but that wasn't any different from before really."

"You'll have to stop getting into fights at school," I smiled, remembering the look on Dash's face when Danny interceded on Mikey's behalf.

"That was seriously one time."

"Yeah, in the one day you were there," I deadpanned. "You know, Dash will probably have it out for you now."

He grimaced. "And, I'm not going to be able to do anything about it, huh?"

"Not if you want to keep your secret identity a secret."

"So, I'm going to have to let him beat me up?" he said, sounding more annoyed than frightened.

"Yeah, I think that's pretty much the only solution to that one."

"You really have too much faith in my self-control, Sam." He took a breath, looking out at the horizon, watching the sun set on the city. I smiled at the sight of him. This was the first time in a long while that I've seen him so relaxed. "So, it's all over, now. Life is going to start being normal again. No ghosts, no lies."

I laughed, more out of picturing Danny trying to be normal than his statement. "I don't really know about the ghost part; there are still some out there that want to take over the human world." I cut my eyes at him, smiling. I took his hand. "But, there is a process to this. We see the ghost, we fight the ghost, you have your puns, I kick some butt—"

"This sounds strangely familiar," he laughed.

"Oh, but the ending is different," I said, leaning closer to him. "The ghost boy doesn't go home alone learning some lesson. The ghost boy goes home with me."

He cracked a smile. "I'm really starting to like this new ending, now."

"Something," I said briefly, and kissed him long and hard. "Something tells me you'll love it."
