Author's Note: True statement: themed weddings are becoming very popular in this century, including Portal-themed ceremonies.

After doing some of this research for a school project, I thought about the relationship between Chell and her original, charred, thought-dead Companion Cube, which was given back to her by GLaDOS at the end of Portal 2. I then read a review talking about a wedding between Chell and the Cube on the link below and thought that would be an amusing story.

On that note…enjoy!

A Portal Wedding

It was a beautiful day for a wedding.

As the cores and turrets gathered into the Aperture Science auditorium, they gazed in wonder at the beautiful video screens that showcased the majesty of the company, ranging from demonstrations of scientific ingenuity to showcases of technological wonder.

After the guests all settled in, the Turret choir on the stage began to sing and the Companion Cube, carried by its caretaker Dr. Doug Rattman, was led up to the stage and set down on the ground before the doctor himself exited the facility in a panicked rush, as usual.

Then, the beautiful bride Chell, who was dressed in a special, designer-edition Aperture Science orange jumpsuit, walked down the aisle to join the Companion Cube on the stage.

As the music ended, GLaDOS, who was officiating the ceremony, came down from the ceiling and began the service.

"Fellow robotic contraptions of Aperture Science," she started out as she looked at her former test-subject and the object she tried to incinerate many years ago.

"We are gathered here today to witness the marriage between our test subject and her faithful Cube."

She then cleared her voice before she continued on.

"I met Chell when she was first starting up in the testing ring," she said as she gazed toward the audience in front of her.

"After demonstrating her abilities in shooting multi-colored portals and not getting killed by various flying or falling objects, I introduced her to the Companion Cube."

"It was truly love at first sight."

She paused before she continued on.

"However, as a test of mental fortitude, I ordered her to dump her beloved Cube into the burning depths of the Incinerator."

"Though I challenged her with more tests and even put in cryo-stasis for an indefinite amount of time, our test subject never forgot her Cube."

"After putting me through death, reactivations, disconnection, potatoes, birds, and reconnection, I decided to reunite these two lovebirds for the chance that a relationship could be re-established between human and Cube."

After pausing again as the Turrets and Cores squirmed in their seats, GLaDOS looked at Chell and the Companion Cube one last time and motioned them closer together with her appendages.

"Chell," she told the woman as she stared at her former charge.

"Do you take the Companion Cube as your lawfully wedded husband?"

Chell, the silent protagonist she is, jumped once.

"Companion Cube," she then said, turning her attention to the object.

"Do you take Chell as your lawfully wedded wife?"

The Cube said nothing, so the robot took that as a yes.

"Now you may take the bride," GLaDOS finally answered as the Turret choir began to sing a happy song and the audience applauded the newly-wedded couple as Chell and the Companion Cube took their leave with the help of the Portal Gun.

After everybody calmed down, GLaDOS called all the Turrets and Cores to attention.

"There will be a reception held in the honor of the newly-wedded couple," she said as she gave directions for the place on an Aperture Science Lecture Screen.

"There will be cake…and that wasn't a lie."
