So... Hey... I have no explanation, other then I have several other stories in progress and I'm a university student. So... yeah. Hope you liked this and I make no promises as to when the next chapter is coming out. Enjoy.

As always I do not PJO, HOO or the new TOA. Kaira is a character of my own invention though.. I own her, just not the universe she lives in.

Chapter 4

Kaira and Hestia spoke for hours. Kaira explained what life was like before Hestia was born, before the war, before everything went wrong.

"We were happy" Kaira admitted. "Father and I would dance, and mother would laugh as she watched us, We would spend our days sipping nectar, mother would sing to me to lull me to sleep, and father would tell me stories. Of his great feats of strength, I knew most of them were lies, even as a child, but… they were so fascinating that I never cared."

"Father!" A young Kaira cried wrapping her arms around her father's small frame. "Dance with me!"

Kronos took his little girl in his arms and danced around the meadow, Rhea laughed as Kaira twirled around in her father's arms. Flowers were entwined into her hair, her violet eyes bright and laughing, and Kronos was looking down at her as though she were the most precious thing in the world.

He picked her up and spun her around and kissed her on both cheeks.

Kaira turned in her father's arms. "Mother!" She cried, "Dance with us!"

Rhea stood and danced with her daughter and husband. Kissing her little girl on the cheek, and her husband fully on the mouth.

The night was slowly darkening and father tossed Kaira into the air before catching her.

"Tell me a story!" Kaira asked as they tucked her into bed.

Kronos sat on her bed and smiled. The smile was a little crooked, but to Kaira, it expressed love and safety.

Hestia listened as Kaira talked about the time before the birth of the gods. The light in her eyes seemed to shine brighter as she remembered her parents. When she came out of the story she blinked and her light faded and her face fell as she came back to the present.

"How did you get your power?" Hestia asked wanting to keep her mind off of her current predicament. "Time?"

Kaira chuckled a little "Father promised me a gift shortly before the destruction of Ouranos, I was such a selfish child that I asked that he give me control over time, father agreed."

Hestia looked at her surprised. "Father willingly, shared his domain?"

Kaira nodded her head twice. "He was a crooked man," She admitted. "but I had him wrapped around my little finger from the moment I was born," She said with a smile. "It's why I'm stuck here, instead of cast into Tartarus like so many others."

Then Kaira's smile slipped, and she looked down. "At least until, he was cursed, I don't know the full details, not even mother really knows what truly happened. I just know that after the battle against Ouranos he became withdrawn distant, he never smiled anymore, any time I asked him to sing and dance he refused, he became far more crooked then I had ever seen, and he started to become extremely worried whenever I used my power." Kaira laughed darkly. "I had wanted to make his crops grow faster, show him how much further along I was in my control of the power he had given me…" Kaira trailed off.

Hestia stared at her and waited for her to finish. "He wasn't pleased?"

Kaira turned back to Hestia. "He shouted at me to never use my power on his things ever again, I hadn't understood, had thought that I had broken a rule… thought that he had warned me of this before and I had just forgotten about it. I never questioned him why. He was my father, why would I question him? She said. "I should have been suspicious then," Kaira said staring up at her younger sister. "Perhaps if I had been, you and the rest of my siblings would not have suffered in his stomach for so many years."

Hestia clasped her hand. "You were a child. The blame lies with Kronos and Kronos alone. Even if you had known there was nothing you could have done. You acted as a sister should, it was Kronos who could not be a good father to us."

Kaira turned to Hestia and held her cheek silver tears fell down her eyes before she dragged her sister in for a hug Hestia paused only for a moment before she smiled and returned the hug. "I love you" Kaira whispered. Hestia smiled and tightened her hold. "I love you too"
