AN: I'll just leave this here..
The sun was slowly creeping it's way up the horizon and steadily tinting the early morning sky in woderful hues of red and yellow. The whole Seireiteiand with it the Academy and it's students seemed to sleep in on this day, since it was a peaceful saturday morning and there wouldn't be any classes for today. But one transcendal being sat alone in his dorm room brooding over his current situation.
He had revealed himself way sooner than he actually intended to, and the first year of his academy life was now nearing the midterm exams, and he is now expected to recive exceptional good grades in the upcoming exams, because the headmaster wanted him to immediately exceed into the last year already. That would of course lead to finishing the academy within one single year. But would he want that?
It had already been several weeks since his incident with Byakuya, and the raven haired did a great job in ignoring him completely. Ichigo couldn't care less, since he wasn't at the academy to gain any friends, it should have been a mere tool for him to officially get into the Seireitei and be able to act as an officer when Aizen came around eventually. That's at least what he tried to tell himself all this time now. But he already said things to the future clan head he shouldn't have. He'd already changed him, and deep down in his heart he couldn't find the courage to leave Byakuya be now. He never thought he'd go this far for the Kuchiki boy, but he considered him a friend now, he wasn't just an ally anymore.
What about Ginrei? The old man surely wasn't alive anymore in his previous timeline, that was for sure, but what happened? The taicho had seen him using his actual powers when he fought against those Hollows weeks ago. Sure, he had knocked him out at the end of the fight, trying to seal his short term memory, and that usually works but he wasn't so sure when it came to such a strong person as a captain. He never really tried before. Ginrei would remember for sure... sooner or later.
It was time for a visit. Time for breaking into the Kuchiki mansion.
„You sure that's a good idea, Aibou? I mean, they have guards... they won't be a problem for me, ya'no. I just ain't so certain we could get in and out without accidently killing anyone." Shiro said in a serious manner, and Ichigo knew where he was going at. Killing any innocent person was out of the question. Heck, he wouldn't even dare to harm Ginrei.
„But Ichigo, what are you trying to archive by going there? He would never let you leave after you have spoken to him, even if you were to threaten him." Zangetsu added.
„I know... I know. But tell me, what should I do? I'm kinda helpless right now. I don't want to leave Byakuka here alone when I leave the academy. I dragged him into this mess, which was my own miskate. Now i have to set things right..." Ichigo answered his spirits with a rather said voice.
His mindscape was silent a few minutes after he said that. Zangetsu seemed to agree with his opinion but neither of them had some kind of plan.
„Oh, Ichi! Shikari knows what to do. You could use me, right? I'll grant your whish. I really could. But you wouldn't i know... What if you tell gramps about that wife that is going to die?" Shikari chirped in her usual singsang voice.
The not-really-blonde had thought about that as well, but was it enought to convince the old man? He was trying to take Byakuya into a completely different direction his family wanted him to be.
„That is not a bad idea, Shikari. But for that to actually work, I'll need to convince Byakuya himself fist. And that's what I'm going to do. He'll be certainly dealing with schoolwork right now, which would grant me a chance to catch him before he is able to run away."
Byakuyas Reiatsu signature was calm in the dorm right next to his own, meaning he was still asleep. A good time to confront the man and catch him unprepared. Ichigo gathered his thoughts for a few seconds before he went outside his room, standing in front of the door right next to him, he sighed. Byakuya had locked his door, and not only with a mundane key that every student had, instead he placed a more or less simple Kido seal on his door, warning him if someone would enter without him knowing.
It was a very weak seal and Ichigo could easily break it with brute force, but that would alert the man inside the room for certain and he'd have enough time to prepare to either jump through the window or outright attack him. Both wouldn't be a problem as well, but the young time-traveler wasn't so keen on having so much action first thing in the morning, so he closed his eyes and analyzed the seal for a minute or so.
Byakuya had paid attention in Kido class. Even being it a simple seal it was well done, and quite strong, so it took several silent minutes to undo the Kido. As Ichigo was nearing the end of his procedure he prepared a silent Bakudo in his mind, intending to bind the noble as soon as he catches sight of him.
He opened the door slowly, shunpoed directly in front of the confused Byakuya, who just woke to someone entering his room. Ichigo pointed his finger in front of Byakuyas face and whispered „Shibireyubi". Byakuya instantly dropped back into his bad, as he just lost all controll over his body. His eyes remained wide and he looked at the figure, that just intruded his personal space and left him helpless within a matter of seconds.
Ichigo revealed his face under the dark hood he got used to wear, and glanced at his friend who was forced to lay motionless in his bed. He didn't want to retort to using such methods, but he had to make sure that he would be listened to.
„It's okay Byakuya. Just me. I didn't want to do this to you, but you're leaving me no other choice. If you promise me to just listen to what I say, I'm gonna release that spell now. You don't have to say anything while I talk, I'm just pleased when you listen. After that I'm gonna leave and if you don't want to, you don't have to talk to me ever again, ok?"
Ichigo noticed that the frantic reiatsu hat calmed down and he released the spell on Byakuya.
„Just to be sure we'll be alone »Kyomon«" Ichigo said leaving a heavy seal on the door, closing the room from the outside and any intruders.
„Alright, Urahara-san... I'll listen, but don't expect me to believe a single word coming from your mouth" Byakuya stated looking down on his hands as he got into a sitting position while Ichigo occupied the only chair in the room, sitting towards him.
„I know this is hard for you. I wouldn't believe anything I said if i were in your position as well, but I tried to let you be. I simply can't. Just the fact that you met me changed your whole future and the simple fact that I let you into this mess is something that needs to be cleared. I won't drag you in, tell you things i shouldn't know and leave you high'n dry. You deserve to know my story, and I won't even try to erase your memory if things don't turn out my way, i promise. I'm gonna start from the very beginning;
I was still alive, living as a more or less normal living teenager since i could aways see ghost wandering around our town. One night your adoptive sister Rukia Kuchiki came wandering in our house, believing nobody could see her. After proving her that I could see her very much, she explained the concept of the afterlife to me... She'd draw everything onto a silly notepad, and god, did her drawings suck!
We were interrupted by a Hollow that thought I'd be especially tasty because I had so much Reiatsu. Long story short; Rukia tried to kill the thing, but reckless as I was I tried to play the hero and jumped between them, which forced her to take the hit for me. She was in no state to fight anymore so she did the only logical thing for us to survive and gave me her powers. Regardless to say that i took them all, when she wanted to give me a tiny bit, so I left her powerless.
After that I had to fulfill her duties as a shinigami, and everything was quite well for a few weeks, when you guys started to notice that something had gone wrong, and Rukia wasn't returning when she had to.
The first time i met you was when you came with Renji Abarai to retrive your sister. I hadn't known you before, but she told me quite some things about you while she trained me to become a proper shinigami.
You were a captain at that time, Renji was your number two. Head of the Kuchiki Clan and you had a major stick up your ass. Not showing any emotion on your face, always acting cool and most important for you was to always stick to the rules and laws of the afterlife... You had a wife once. You were married about 5 years before you lost her to an illness. She was Rukias biological sister and her deathwish was to find Rukia in Rukongai and take her in. Had to believe that you actually broke the rules twice for the same woman. First marrying a commoner and second taking her little sister in as well.
You found Rukia while she was at the academy and made her graduate immediately, but you never took up the act of a real brother. She adored you so much, but at the same time she was afraid of you.
So as you came to get her she obeyed and went with you, but i wouldn't have any of that and tried to fight you. I somehow took down Renji because you still hat limiters on, but i didn't stand a chance against you and you aimed to kill. Using Senka on my had me nearly bleeding to death on the street, and you succeded in taking Rukias stolen powers from me. Kisuke stitched me back together and I was keen on getting Rukia back. She was considered a danger and was about to get executed. You didn't do anything against it... You even took her and handed her out just because you decided to stick to the rules.
I was poweless but unknown to everybody I already had my own Shinigami powers slumbering in me all my life, since my biological father was a Shinigami in exile. And since I'm at it i can tell you that Isshin Shiba is my biological father...
Urahara had some weird procedure to get my powers back and I gained Hollow powers at some point of that. Didn't know I had them until much later. Nobody knew.
So i trained like a madman and went to Soul Society to get Rukia back. I fought my way through until i could stop the execution in the last second. We had a major showoff fight after that, and you actually went Bankai on my ass, which caused my Hollow to take some action and taking control of my body. Even though you saw that and didn't ever tell anybody about it, which i'm thankful for. I'd say our fight was a draw, but you said I'd win and that you wouldn't try to kill your sister anymore.
Just after that three of your fellow captains decided to ditch the Seireitei and stick to their own plans. I won't tell you who that was, because that is the only reason I came back here. So, the three traitors went to Huecco Mundo, alliancing themselves with a new breed of Hollows which equal the power of a captain easily. One of them wanted to create the Ouken and take the king's throne for himself, and let me tell you. He nearly made it some point in the distant future. War broke loose, and we fought for years.
We found allies at the strangest places and where we'd never searched for them.
You and I, we were allies, we would fight back to back, but we never became some sort of friends during that time. I'd always been close to your sister and Renji, but never to you. You always kept up that motionless mask.
The years of war were long and painful... we lost so many lifes, and I lost half of my childhood. I was forced to grow up. I never finished High School, because I had to win a war. But as time went on we lessened in numbers... while his army became bigger and bigger. People were switching sides. But we sticked together.
I... I fell in love with Rukia in that time. But you'd never know. We were too afraid to tell you, and it wasn't the time for love or romance, but it was in vain anyways. You died while fighting one of the special soldiers. You had no chance, and she watched. She was injured and couldn't do anything... I tried to be there for her, but there wasn't much to do. One day after your death we were ambushed and he nearly won that day.
Sh-She took the hit for me, after that everything went blank for me.
The following weeks were a blur of blood and pain and it lead to me to coming back here... I don't belong here anymore, I'm still fighting a war that hasn't happened yet..."
Ichigo didn't notice the tears running down his face as he told Byakuya his story. He didn't notice the shocked face of his friend, and he didn't notice the tiredness that overcame him as he finished, causing him to simply pass out and drop motionless to the floor in front of the shocked raven haired man.
