With Max freed, Sakuya, Koakuma, Yuugi and Parsee ran up to him, but they dared not get too close to him. The voice of the Unspeakable One was still echoing inside their minds and this was tearing at the strings of their sanity. Patchouli also appeared, stunned to see Max freed from the grip of the King in Yellow. She felt some level of hope now that Max was back along with his powers, but that power still came from the dark spirit inhabiting him so she remained wary. With his powers, they may have a chance in stopping the Crawling Chaos.

Patchouli stared at Max, still finding it hard to believe that he was able to hold it together with an Outer God inside him. "Max… How did you manage to escape?" she asked.

Max stared back at her intensely. "Why does it matter? What I want to know is why you five idiots are still here. Run the fuck away already," he said, angry with the girls' presence.

Sakuya went to slap Max, but refrained herself. "We just helped break you free and that's what you have to say to us?" she asked, quite angry herself.

"This isn't like last time, sweetheart," Max said. He held up the Yellow Sign Medallion. It's yellow glow was violent and it scared the girls, causing them to take a step back from him. "He's not asleep this time. He's awake and one pissed off son of a bitch. I… I'm barely hanging on as it is. I don't know how long I can contain him."

"You have to for as long as possible," Patchouli said with determination in her eyes. "You need to find that alien reptile and destroy it. With it gone, our powers will return and we'll all be able to fight the Crawling Chaos together."

"I'm already one step ahead of you," Max stated.

He looked up into the sky to see that Nyarlathotep was still hanging high in the sky, looking upward at Azathoth. She didn't seem at all concerned with Max's ability to regain control over Hastur. She didn't even give him a glance. He wondered what was going on through her mind. Despite losing control over the King in Yellow, she seemed awfully calm and collected.

"Max…" Sakuya started. The thoughts running through her harmed mind made her shiver. "Do you know what happened to Lady Remilia and the others?" she asked, unsure if she wanted to hear the answer.

Max looked sullen. "I do. That bitch up there took all their souls. All except for Remilia's. She… was destroyed," he said, gravely hurt from the truth.

Sakuya nearly fell to her knees as her heart ached painfully. "No… I can't believe it," she said.

"It's the truth," Max said as he quivered with anger. "Remilia is gone, but the others can be saved. Somehow…"

"As I said, the reptilian god needs to be defeated so we can all fight the Crawling Chaos and take back their souls. That's all we can do now," Patchouli said, to everyone's agreement.

Not far off from the shore of Misty Lake, a large being could be seen rising up from underneath the surface of the water. "Well, look who it is…" Max said moodily.

Yig, with his three ghastly eyes burning with rage, rose out from Misty Lake. He walked up onto the shore, pulling behind him by the hair a giant Suika. She appeared quite beat up and burnt all over. One of her horns was broken off and was barely hanging on by a thread. She thrashed about while she was dragged across the ground, yelling at the beast to let her go. He did release her then went to stomp on her face, but she rolled out of the way. She jumped to her feet and went to punch the monster, but he caught her fist with one hand then punched her in the gut with the other, knocking the wind out of her. She coughed up blood from the blow, but she remained stout and grabbed the beast by the shoulders then rammed her knee into its gut. His gut was like steel and even with her massive strength, she was only able to make the monster cough. She hurt her knee, but that didn't stop her from kneeing him in the gut a second time, then a third, then a fourth. The fifth was the final time before the pain in her knee was too much. She groaned loudly from the pain, but was then silenced by Yig when he wrapped his arms around her. He then lifted her over his shoulder, performing a suplex on her and slamming her head first into the ground. She was buried nearly to her waist. Yig then pulled her out by her legs like a carrot and held her there.

The giant monstrosity grinned horridly. "Had enough, you sad creature?" he asked.

Suika spat blood off to the side then looked up and stared intensely at him. "At least I got you away from the Human Village, you asshole. No food for you!" she said.

The giant reptile chuckled. "That is no problem. That village will be devoured soon enough. I can be patient when I want to- OOF!"

Suddenly, Max had landed on top of the monster's head as hard as he could, causing the beast to nearly bite its tongue and to release Suika. Max bounced off his head then floated in front of the beast's face. With great anger flowing through both of them, they each stared intensely at one another. Moments passed by the time one of them spoke.

Yig was the one to speak. "So… This is the Harbinger of Madness. A pitiful looking human being," he said.

"And all I see is a giant green dickhead that's gonna die," Max said.

Yig laughed out loud. "You gain the powers of the Unspeakable One and suddenly you think you can defeat me. Arrogant and stupid, you are," he said.

"It's not like I'm going to kill you on my own, you little bitch," Max snarled.

Yig went to retort, but he was suddenly punched in the back of the head by Yuugi. His head bounced forward, right into a strong fist from Max. Max punched him in the nose, bouncing his head backwards. Yuugi struck him in the back of the head a second time, sending Yig forward, right back into a punch from Max. Yig's head was bounced back and forth several times until his rage broke out into a blistering roar of hate. Yuugi was blasted backwards from the winds created by the roar while Max managed to hold on tight.

Yig's roar only annoyed Max. "Oh, shut the fuck up already, you noisy cunt," he said before delivering a devastating jab to Yig's nose. Yig was knocked backwards off his feet and down to his back. The ground quaked from the impact. The beast, with fire burning maddeningly inside his three eyes, leapt back to his feet then immediately blew a torrent of fire from his mouth at Max. Max's vile red aura enlarged to protect him from the murderous fire, keeping him from harm. He then flew forward and kneed the reptile in the nose, making him stumble backwards.

"Auugh! Stop hitting my nose!" Yig roared, causing sweltering winds to blow all around him.

The heat forming around the monster was becoming too great for Yuugi to get near, but she was desperate to aid Max in the fight against Yig. So, with resolve tightly formed in her heart, she resisted the burning aura around the beast and went in with a kick. She struck the side of the creature's head, nearly knocking him over. He took a swing at her with his deadly claws, forcing her to quickly evade. He swung again and again at her, but she was quick enough to avoid being struck. With Yig distracted, Max held out his hand and in the palm of that hand formed a sword from his vile power. It glowed a twisted red color. His aim was first to cut out the eyes of the reptilian god, so fly towards the beast he did. He aimed at the beast's left eye and went to swing, but the creature blinked right before the sword hit him. Sparks blew out in every direction on impact. Max clicked his teeth in annoyance then took a second chance and swung his sword again at the eye lid in a bid to break through it, but again the eye lid proved to be incredibly hard and dense. Sparks flew out all around Max as he swung his sword against the eye lid again and again until Yig retaliated. Yig opened his eye and in an instant a blast of green energy was fired out from the eye, hitting Max and blasting him away. Yig grinned in delight, only to be hit in the chin. Yuugi had uppercutted him as hard as she could, almost lifting him off his feet.

Yig, feeling actual pain from Yuugi's punch, went on a rampage and started to swing his claws in a storm of swipes. Yuugi, feeling sudden terror in her heart, went on the defensive and dodged the swipes the best she could. But flying was made difficult by the scorching winds. Yig's mad swinging was creating twisters all around him. They tore up and burned the ground as they glided around. The Scarlet Mansion suffered more as the twisters tore at. Twisters formed over the Misty Lake, boiling the water.

Yuugi grew tired of dodging and stopped where she was. Yig went to strike her out of the sky with his claw, but Yuugi caught the claw. She cried out in pain from having stopped the powerful momentum that was behind the claw, but she did manage to stop it. But it proved to be a bad idea. Yig immediately snatched Yuugi up in his hand then started to squeeze her. Not even a moment went by by the time one of her ribs snapped as she was being crushed. She went to cry out for help, but all the air in her lungs was lost. Then Max appeared from high in the sky. He fell downwards, landing hard on Yig's middle eye. The painful blow forced him to release Yuugi as he placed both of his hands over his injured eye. He began to scream, the screams rattling the minds of all that heard it. Now with a free opening, both Max and Yuugi gathered their strength into a fist and launched it forward. They scored a hit right into Yig's stomach, but the beast stood its ground. Both Max and Yuugi pulled back.

Max sneered, frustrated from the lack of real damage they seemed to be doing. "Damn it. His scales are tough. I'm going to have to use my sword to try and slice into him, but it's hard with him thrashing around like that," he said.

Yuugi panted, winded from all the flying she had done and hurting from her injured ribs. "Yeah, getting him to stop isn't going to be very easy, but we can do it. Somehow…" she said.

Once Yig regained his composure, he glared at the two. They could almost feel themselves burning up from the glare. With a mighty roar, the beast balled his hand into a fist and sent it flying. Max flew forward towards the fist with his own fist ready to fly. He threw his fist just before he was about to be punched, and their fists collided with one another, unleashing a devastating blast that overwhelmed Yuugi, sending her flying. The blast struck the Scarlet Mansion, damaging it even further. The clock tower that stood proudfully was sent crumbling to the ground. Max and Yig held their place as they tried to push back the other with their fists.

Yig snarled. "You think you can match my level of strength, little human?" he said. "Even the Unspeakable One's strength can't match mine."

"God, you're such an idiot. I've barely even gotten started with you," Max said as his muscles tightened.

He then began pushing forward, forcing Yig, to his surprise, back. Yig tried to stand his ground, but his feet dragged across the ground as he was forced back.

"Y-You damn bug!" Yig exclaimed. He then unclenched his fist and went to grab Max, but he flew out of his reach.

Max then rushed towards the enormous reptile in an attempt to deliver another punch to his nose, but Yig was quick this time. The moment Max drew close enough, he opened his mouth wide open then bit down on Max, catching him in his mouth. He then proceeded to chomp down on him over and over again as he tried to grind Max into nothing but a glob of meat. He continued to chomp repeatedly, only to be stopped when Max pushed up on the roof of his mouth. Yig tried to shut his mouth on him, but Max proved stronger than his jaw. Failing to bite down on Max, Yig started to inhale air with fire building up in his throat. That's when Max grabbed hold of his tongue then pulled it. Once his tongue was pulled from his mouth, Yuugi appeared from the sky and landed on his snout, causing him to bite down on his own tongue and snapping it off. The beast wailed from the pain.

Max threw away the still wiggling tongue as Yuugi appeared by his side. "Now we know he's not indestructible," he said.

"Thank the gods for that," Yuugi replied with a hardened smile.

The giant Suika had gotten to her feet despite the agony she was in after having wrestled with Yig. She walked up to Max and Yuugi with the most miserable expression she probably ever made. "You need me to get him to stop moving around, don't ya?" she asked, not liking the idea, but still willing to get the job done.

"You think you can do that, my not-so-little friend?" Yuugi asked, worried for her fellow oni.

"You better be able to or we'll be punching at this wall for the rest of the day," Max said.

"Yeah, yeah, I got this," Suika said with a bit of sulking.

Yig, despite having been kicked in the center of his eye and having bitten his own tongue off, recovered quickly. His rage knew no bounds as the earth around him ignited into flames. He let out a hate-filled roar then charged towards the three, his aim on Suika, determined to finish her off.

He leapt into the air then went to land on Suika, but she rolled to the side, avoiding the attack. When Yig hit the ground, the earth cracked underneath him. Suika let out a roar of her own when she swung a fist towards the alien god's head, landing the punch. Yig endured it with a snarl then slashed at the oni. She caught his arm then used her mighty strength to pull him over her shoulder and throw him. He landed back into the Misty Lake and the second he touched the water, steam was rapidly produced from his burning body. He thrashed in the water as he stood up then got on our fours. He ran at high speeds and rammed Suika in the stomach with his head, knocking her to the ground. The reptile jumped on her, pinning her to the ground. He then inhaled a great deal of air, ready to unleash a hellish torrent of fire onto the oni, but he was stopped by Max and Yuugi. They both flew downwards and upwards, slamming into his snout and jaw. His mouth was forced shut just as he unleashed his fiery spit, forcing the fire to come out of the sides of his mouth instead of forward. Suika took the chance to grab hold of the beast's head and roll him over to his back, this time with Suika on top. She tried to keep him pinned down, but his strength proved greater and he shoved her off. Yig got to his feet first then jumped into the air, his right elbow outward. He landed his elbow on Suika's gut, causing her to cough up blood. The monster then went to slash her throat, but again he was stopped by Max and Yuugi. Yuugi had grabbed him by the tail and pulled him off of Suika. Max, with a vile red sword in his hand, swung down on the thing's middle eye, slashing it open. Boiling blood burst from the slashed eye and Yig let out a heart-stopping howl.

"Gotch'a, bitch," Max said proudly.

"Nice one, Max!" Yuugi exclaimed.

With both hands on his wounded middle eye, Yig thrashed around wildly. He was in pain, but the pain fed his burning rage. The scorching aura he emitted grew larger and larger, forcing Yuugi to back away, unable to be near him too long in fear of being lit aflame. Max had his vile aura to protect him, while Suika had become rather numb after being burned by Yig so many times.

Yig let out another terrifying scream before snapping at Max in a bid to devourer him, but Suika, resisting the hot touch of Yig's body, got her arms underneath his arms and pulling off a full nelson. The monstrosity thrashed about as he tried to break free from the oni's hold.

"Now's the time! I can't hold him forever!" Suika yelled as she was burning.

Max, with his sword at hand, flew towards the alien beast's chest and slashed downward. Sparks exploded everywhere upon contact. Max was unable to break through the thing's adamant scales, but he was far from giving up. Again he swung downward with more sparks created. He slashed upward then downward again, repeating this over and over again. The speed of his swings increased rapidly over just a short amount of time until Max became a blur to one's sight. Sparks rained down to the world below. Yig's scales started to turn red. Yig himself yelled and screamed as he was slashed in the chest until Max, with one monumental swing, broke through the scales, creating a gash in the reptilian god's chest.

"Ahhhhrgh! You…! You actually cut me!" Yig bellowed.

With a hole in his chest, Suika released him then grabbed him by the shoulder, forcing him to turn around and face the oni. She then took the horn that dangled off her head and broke it off and with it, shoved it into the gash in Yig's chest, puncturing his vile heart. The thing let out a rancorous scream of agony, crippling any soul that heard it. The scream rang out throughout Gensokyo, echoing everywhere. Yig went to attack the oni, but his strength was rapidly draining from him. His body began to turn gray and only once his entire body had become gray did it finally fall silent. And with but a single breeze did the thing turn into ash. Yig had finally been destroyed.

The moment the reptilian god was defeated, everyone with magical abilities across Gensokyo felt a rush of magic run through their bodies. A huge feeling of relief washed over them as the curse Yig had placed on them had been broken. They all were finally free to use their magic once more.

With a sigh of relief, Suika popped back to her normal size then fell back to earth. Max caught her before she could hit the ground. She lay there in his arms, exhausted from the battle and hurting quite badly. Her skin was burnt everywhere. She breathed heavily as she looked up at Max.

"It pains me the most to see those red eyes of yours again, but I can't argue with the results," she said.

Yuugi appeared, quite burnt herself and tired from the battle. She gave her fellow oni a thumbs up. "We're back in business, my friend. You did your part in this fight so take it easy while we finally put an end to that Outer God's plans," she said.

Suika gave Yuugi a nod and closed her eyes. Max lightly laid her down on the ground to allow her to recover.

Sakuya, Koakuma, Patchouli and Parsee appeared and greeted the ones that defeated Yig.

"Finally we are free from that thing's terrible curse," Patchouli said with great relief.

"Sorry we couldn't help," Sakuya said with regret. "That heat was just too much and we don't have the physical strength you three have."

"That's quite alright," Yuugi stated. "But now you can do something. Now we can take the fight to the Crawling Chaos."

"Hmm… It's not going to be easy," Max started. "You should probably leave the Crawling Chaos to me and get as far away as you can."

Yuugi sighed. "Not that talk again… Look. We're in this together. You don't have to fight that thing all alone," she said.

"It's not that," Max said with a bit of annoyance in his voice. "If I'm to use my full power, it will drive you all insane. It would get ugly real fast."

"You need to trust in our strength, Max," Sakuya said.

"It's true that we may fall into madness with your vile power pouring out like it is, but it's a risk we're willing to take," Patchouli added.

Max rolled his eyes. "You girls are stubborn as fuck," he said.

"Damn right we are," Yuugi said with a haughty laugh.

The group of six looked at one another before nodding all at once. They then looked towards the sky where the Outer God Nyarlathotep was waiting. They all hesitated, but the hesitation only last for a single moment before they all flew up towards the evil god. Once they were there, they surrounded the Crawling Chaos. The dark god still paid them no attention as her eyes were still set on the giant eye of Azathoth in the black sky. Max, with gritted teeth, was the one to speak up.

"It's over, Nyarlathotep. Finally, your stupid little plan to overthrow Azathoth has come to an end," Max stated with a hardened heart. "You will return the souls you have stolen, and pay for what you did to Remilia."

With a slow, dark laugh, the Crawling Chaos's eyes slowly descended upon Max. "So… You've come for me, have you?" she said in a chilling voice.

The entire group felt despair creeping into their hearts, but their resolve remained strong. With the Crawling Chaos before them, they prepared themselves for the most terrifying battle of their entire lives.
