Lighthouses are really quite strange, aren't they? They are like sirens, beckoning a weary heart to the very shore they are meant to warn away from. They herald danger in their fierce beauty, light dancing off the wild crests and playing across the inky drops and folds between. They cast shadows across the hulls of damned ships that have been dashed across the sharp rocks. They promise warmth on the stormy nights when the rain pours in freezing rivulets down your spine, on the nights when your heart has been torn from you and you have nowhere left to turn.
