The shrill screams women usually made during labor rang through the air, making Inuyasha flatten his ears against his head. He was sitting on a branch on the sacred tree, but the girl's screams still stung through his sensitive ears.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome called, running towards him. "Come on! Rin's in labor, and you're not even helping! It wouldn't do for Sesshomaru not to know about this!"
"I'm surprised he couldn't hear her screams from wherever the hell is." Groaned Inuyasha, jumping down the tree. He wasn't in the mood to suffer from Kagome's malicious sits.
"I already sent Shippo to call him," said Kagome as they ran through the forest. "It shouldn't take long."
"Then why the hell did you call me, wench?"
"You're the baby's uncle! You've got to b there for her!" Kagome exclaimed. Inuyasha stopped in front the hut, and helped Kagome down.
Inuyasha covered his ears as Rin screamed again. Kagome rolled her eyes at him, then proceeded into the hut, while Inuyasha waited outside. Men, after all, weren't allowed in the birthing room.
It had been a year since Kagome had returned to the feudal era, and he'd claimed her as his mate and his wife. Shippo was going out with another fox demon named Sayuri, and he'd already asked her to be his future mate. Kouga's and Ayame's cubs visited with their parents from time to time, and had become good (sort of) friends with Inuyasha and Kagome.
Sesshomaru claimed Rin a month after she had turned fourteen (the standard marrying age for girls in the feudal era), and Rin had gotten pregnant two weeks after that. Inuyasha was slightly jealous of his half-brother, since he wanted a pup of his own.
At last, Rin's screams had stopped, and baby's cries filled the air. At that moment, Lord Sesshomaru himself landed in front of the hut, with Ah-Un, Jaken, and Shippo hot on his heels.
Kagome lifted the bamboo curtain blocking the doorway of the hut.
"It's a girl!" she announced, and Sesshomaru shoved past her into the hut.
"He always's hated half-demons, but ended up fathering one." Inuyasha mused.
"I know." Kagome smiled up at her mate, who smiled back at her, and they entered the hut.
Rin was sitting up, and leaning against Sesshomaru. Her face was pale and tired, her hair wet from sweat. The happy couple was currently looking over at their half-demon baby, who Rin was breat-feeding.
Kaede was washing the cloths she used for labor in a wooden pail, while Shippo was helping her by taking them out to dry.
"What are you going to name her?" asked Kagome, Sitting in front of Rin and Sesshomaru.
"Yuuki." Rin smiled, looking down at her baby. Yuuki was as pale as her father, with a tuft of silver hair on top of his head. Her eyes were amber, and her ears were pointed.
"Spitting image of her father!" Kagome clapped her hands together. "Just no markings."
Sesshomaru glared at the miko.
Hours later, Kagome and Inuyasha were walking back to their hut, holding hands.
"Kagome?" asked Inuyasha.
"Yes?"
"I want a pup." He said bluntly. Kagome gave him a teasing smile.
"Do you, now?"
Inuyasha sighed and looked up at the sky. "Kagome, I've always wanted a pup of my own. Probably because I knew it was impossible, with everyone turning me away."
Kagome gave him a sad look and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face into his chest.
"If we had a baby, what would he be?" asked Kagome. "Would he still be a half-demon?"
"Yes," nodded Inuyasha. "The demon blood is stronger, so only that would be passed."
Kagome smiled seductively. "You wanna go make one, then?"
Inuyasha grinned and scooped her into his arms.
"Hell yes." And he sped off towards their home.
