Authors notes: so I was originally inspired to write this back at the beginning of the year when it was raining like every day at my house, so I started writing both a Densi and Neric FanFic and then one day I thought 'no this is a one-shot I can't have both Densi and Neric, that is just way too much for such a short FanFic' then I kinda forgot about rewriting it, then back about a week ago it was raining and I decided to go ahead and rewrite it. So I decided to make it just a Neric FanFic because there are hardly any Neric FanFics on the site. DO NOT OWN IT! If I did Eric and Nell would have been together a long time ago.

Red haired, hazel eyed Nell Jones sat on her couch and looked out her window watching the rain fall.

A few minutes later she became aware that a car was pulling into her driveway, a few seconds later she realized that it was only her best friend, wait no… her work partner… her work partner/best friend.

A few seconds later he knocked on her door

"Who is it?" she asks even though she already knows who it is.

"Your geek" he said from the other side of the door.

"Come on in Eric, it's unlocked" she said as she was standing up so she could greet him properly.

"Hey Eric" she says as he walks in.

"Hey Nell"

"What are you doing here?"

"I thought you said you hated the rain."

"No! I love it, it reminds me of when I was a kid!"

"How?"

"It used to rain all the time at the house I grew up in, and I mean all the time. Me and my sisters would spend all day playing I the rain, we were homeschooled, mom would, almost literally, have to drag us in to eat and do school because we loved playing in the rain so much. But then one day we just kinda stopped…I was 13 at the time, I had twin 16 year old sisters who had about a month until they were 17, I had a sister who had just turned 15, then me, then I had twin 11 year old sisters at that point in time. We all still loved then rain, we were just getting too old to go out and play in it, so I suggested that we get a tarp and sit in the rain, that's what we did from then on; we got a tarp and sat in the rain and talked. My sisters were my best friends, but me and my sisters liked it that way." She finished her story with a sigh as she gazed out the window again.

"what about now? Are you and your sisters still close?"

"No, nowhere near close"

"Why not?"

"Well I started at N.C.I.S. O.S.P. I have to lie to them about what I do, so I just found it easier to just stop talking to them as much as I used to. And don't get me wrong, I love working at N.C.I.S… with you… and the team, just watching the rain makes me think of the days when I was truly happy, thats all."

"Who says you can't be truly happy here?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean this" said Eric as he leaned in and kissed Nell.

A second later, after Nell had recovered from the shock, she pulled her hands up and rested them on Eric's shoulder for a second before pushing him away saying "Eric we can't do this."

"Why not?"

"Because Hetty will kill us."

"Come on Nell; take a chance, I love you and I need to know if you love me"

"I… I love you Eric" said Nell causing Eric to lean down for a more passionate kiss "Come on geek, let's go to bed" said Nell as she dragged him into her room.

End authors notes: Yay I went back and edited this so hopefully it is easier to read. I know this is like really short but it was bugging me and not going away so I finally decided to write it. And also sorry about not keeping Eric in character at the whole: ' "I mean this" he said as he leaned down to kiss her' I have a hard time keeping him geeky in all my FanFics but oh well.
