Welcome to the teaser of my new, original story, Let's Not Play With Shadows. I hope you guys like it! Please read and review.
Disclaimer: I do not own Codename: Kids Next Door, but I do own the plot! It's purely from the depths of my own memories. Based around a few Shadows of my own.
Words: 837
Have you ever played with A Shadow?
I'm sure you have.
We all do at one point or another.
This is what happens when you play with A Shadow, that doesn't like to play nicely.
A deleted text message.
A friendship lost.
A broken tire swing.
A forgotten letter.
A healed bruise.
...Make that multiple bruises
A heart crushed
A misplaced love letter
A broken locket
A mistaken identity
A heart broken
An abandoned hope
A dream lost
A lover forgotten
A heart wrenching conversation
A burnt letter.
A fatal mistake
An unmeaningful apology
All of these are Shadows.
Shadows of the past.
You see them every where
And you know not to play with them.
But sometimes we forget this golden rule
And we play with that Shadow.
We play with the shadow, knowing the outcome, and not thinking of the consequences.
At least, not until after the deed is done.
And we all know, that playing with Shadows,
Is the worst Shadow of all.
Life wasn't always filled with harmful Shadows.
Sure there was the occasional Shadow that would appear, and you would vow with your friends to never speak about it again.
But that Shadow likes to come back, doesn't it?
And they like to play, don't they?
They want you to notice them.
They love attention.
But life is easy when you can ignore a few Shadows.
The easiest are the Shadows from your childhood.
The ones that fade as you grow older, you know the ones I'm talking about. Maybe it was a Shadow from preschool that you don't remember as well. Maybe that mean kid finally got on you and your friends nerves enough. So you decide to take his Super Man action figure and bury it under the slide during recess.
Right there, you created a Shadow.
They are the Shadows that you eventually forget about as the clock ticks on.
Why? You may ask.
They could become absolute because you no longer remember the time that that Shadow was created.
And Shadows vanish once they have been forgotten. They always want to be remembered. And they can prosper if you no longer remember.
You could have simply learned to seal them behind a brick wall in which they cannot escape from. Prohibiting them from interfering with your life ever again.
They could be replaced, by new, more powerful Shadows.
And those are the worse kinds of Shadows.
They haunt you longer.
You may think you can finally rid yourself of them by escaping from where they were created.
But keep in mind.
Shadows move quickly. And their creator just might catch up to you.
And that's when you have to hide all of your other Shadows.
Because if too many Shadows are confined in a small space, they grow harder to keep. Harder to restrain. Before they all burst forth and speak of their origin out loud.
And that's what happens when a Shadow is left to manifest long enough.
It creates darkness.
So what did you guys think? Just a little plot bunny I had while talking to my sister, Emma. I've been using the expression Shadow to refer to a moment in the past that was the dark ages. I hope you enjoyed this little teaser.
Please review if you want more.
