Anne slipped through the church's back door, unseen. She saw Josie, in a giant dress, yelling at Julia Bell, her bridesmaid, about something. She saw Gertie, Anthony, and Mrs. Pye, all dressed in matching light blue garb. Fred Wright was talking to Gilbert, just feet from where Anne needed to be, the main part of church.

Anne hid herself in the curtains, waiting for her cue. While hidden, Anne thought of her plan. Her plan to stop the wedding at all costs.

Anne was awoken from her reverie by the horrible sound of the organ. Josie glided down the isle like the queen of the world, whereas, Gilbert didn't look too excited.

After a few moments of welcome, the preacher said, "If anyone objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace."

It was Anne's final chance. She stepped forward. Everyone was looking at her with either horror or confusion. Then Anne finally spoke up.

"I am not the kind of girl who should be rudely barging in on a white veiled occasion, but you are not the kind of boy who should be marrying the wrong girl. So don't say yes, run away now. I'll meet you when you're out of the church back door. Don't wait or say a single vow. You need to hear me out, and they said speak now."

"You will not be saying anything, Anne Shirley! You already blew your chance with him!" Josie said harshly

This time, Gilbert spoke to Anne, "Let's run away now! I'll meet you when I'm out of my tux at the back door. Anne-Girl, I didn't say my vows. So glad you were around when they said speak now."
