It was always raining in Seattle, Washington, and it was raining at that moment too. Dr. Sasuke Uchiha, a handsome psychologist at the developmental clinic, had finished stacking his papers neatly along with everything else in his small office. Since he had recently finished his latest patient, he had thought it best to go home and continue to work some more. He hated the rain, it builds up sooner or later in large puddles, and will splashes anyone walking near a busy street. Yes, rain is good and yes rain is important for society but to what excess? His shift was over and was about to leave the building when someone called out to him.

"There you are Dr. Uchiha, how was your day," the nurse said. Ino Yamanaka, if he was right; short red hair, about five feet and two inches, and wearing a dress to impress him. Yet, he could always tell that she was a bit nervous around him, and had a hard time looking directly at him in the eye. He still continued to walk as she followed closely behind him.

"Very well, if I say so myself I just finished with my last patient for today. He seems to be calm, and it looks like he is getting better without the desire for too much attention. I still needs to finish the overview reports of last year-,"

"I mean, how was your day in general. Anything interesting happened? Anything new or exciting?" she stood in front of him clutching files to herself and smiling. He gave her a incredulous look.

"Ms. Yamanaka, as I have multiple times repeated the same answer to you before, I keep my personal and professional business separate. However, if you are really that keen to know, no nothing exciting, interesting or new has happened. In fact I suspect that in my remaining lifetime nothing new will ever occur. she sighed.

"You know that's impossible doctor."

"To an extent yes, I can not prevent anything unusual to occur during my work, but I do have some control at home."

"It's not a bad thing to experience new things, besides you work too much" she walked with him to the parking lot.

"I know that very well Ms. Yamanaka," he got into his mercedes clk convertible, flashing her a quick smile.

"Apparently not," she laughed in embarrassment, before rubbing her arm. "Maybe you would like to go ou-," Sasuke did not hear her since he rolled up his window and drove off, leaving her disappointed.

The rain still continued on as Sasuke drove back home, silence from his car up to his home. His neighbor greeted him as she lean over the divide fence, running her fingers through her long hair. The umbrella lifted for her to get a good look at him.

"Hello Dr. Uchiha," she said so sweetly, but to him he was disgusted; a married woman flirting with a neighbor. She was dressed extremely nice in front of him. However, he bite his tongue, and kept quiet. "How are you today?"

"Well enough I suppose," he replied nonchalantly. He wanted to avoid talking to her, the last thing he needed was to get in a fight with her husband. His house was two stories high and concrete , very modern but mostly walls rather than windows, not that he minded anyway; grass, trees, bushes and everything else outside was trimmed neatly.

The inside was a bit too neat, everything in shades of white and grey; furniture shaped and symmetrical and placed very well in the open space. The only message was from his friend Dr. Naruto Uzumaki, who wanted to hang out tomorrow. He rubbed the temples between his nose before heading up the glass stairs to his office. He spent the rest of the night until eleven working, before going to bed.

In the morning when he got inside the building of his work, Jennifer was there to greet him, but a bit more nervous. "Good morning Dr Uchiha," she ran her fingers through her hair like his neighbor but with less confidence; she stared at the floor a bit.

"Good morning Ms. Yamanaka. Who do I have today?," he extended his hand out for the folders she held.

"You have 17 year old girl by the name of Hinata Hyuga. I think you also received a letter from her school. They were the ones who sent her I think," she shuffled through the files to pull out a letter and a clipboard. He first took the clipboard:

Patient Application

Name: Hinata Hyuga

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Social Security: *********

Address: -

Additional Notes: Letter from School Board

He took the letter and open to read:

It has come to our attention that we have recently received a letter from a school in concerns about a student. A staff at the school has noticed unusual change of behavior, both physically and emotionally. Deterioration in quality and quantity of work, negative change in school performance, repeated absences from class, dramatic change in energy level, falling asleep in class, changes in hygiene or personal appearance, emotional outbursts, withdrawn, direct statements indicating distress, hints of bruises and thoughts of suicide.

Hints of thought of suicide? What morons Sasuke thought as he read the letter, the school is probably over exaggerating her change in behavior, they just love to pick on kids who are not the same. Still, he was not a person to refuse a person in desperate need. It was his duty to help those who are or could become mentally ill. It did not matter how long it took or the necessary steps to help them, it would be worth it in the end when they can lead a normal life. What constitutes as normal? Anything that does not involve suicide, malice thoughts, low self-esteem, and prevention from a better future. He was considered the best, he has seen the effects of a mentally ill person.

No, he did not want to think about that time. He was so young, yet... felt so hopeless. He stared down at the files without thought, before walking away from a confused Ino. It was when that after it happened that he dedicated to helping the sick and insane. He has multiple times helped the dangerous patients; however, if he ever saw that person again... he was not sure if he could control himself. How he hated that person for what he had done, even after everything-

"Dr. Naruto Uzumaki," that name had startled him and caused him to look up. A female about 5.7 ft, blue eyes, and straight dark brown shoulder length hair; young and pretty, with a hopeful smile. His heart thumped for a moment, before regaining control.

"No, I am Dr. Uchiha. Dr. Uzumaki is a close friend of mine" he saw her smile lose its glow. He rolled his eyes in annoyance, That damn idiot he thought. Dr. Naruto Uzumaki was once a psychologist such as himself, brilliant yes, however being the naïve idiot he was terrible at his job. So he quit and became a doctor instead, which not only was he actually good but enjoyed it a lot more. If she had him for a psychologist then this was going to be more work than he thought. Sasuke wondered how much did Uzumaki screw up. "May I help you?"

"I am Hinata Hyuga," he felt as if a pile of rocks were dropped into his stomach; one he did not know she was his patient, and two, he thought she was older than she actually was. That was not a good sign for him, especially since he was just ogling on how pretty she was; a seventeen year old girl. Quickly he offered her a seat inside. "...where is Dr. Uzumaki," he lifted an eyebrow. She seemed very interested in his so called friend.

"Dr. Uzumaki does not work here anymore, instead he has found a more enjoyable profession as a medical doctor."

"...I see...," she looked down at the floor and brushed the carpet with her feet. Sasuke needed to ask.

"Would you like to get started Ms. Hyuga," disappointedly she nodded and took a seat inside, as he sat opposite from her. "So tell me. Was Dr. Uzumaki your previous psychologist?" he sighed with relief when she shook her head.

"No I just saw his picture on the main desk. He seems so...energetic and cheerfully," she smiled to herself, before returning to a sad expression. Out of nowhere tears began to form in her eyes, and his his heart stopped. Maybe they were not exaggerating too much, which meant the process would take a while. Truthfully, he did want to help her. He did not understand why, he had a lot more patients that could relate with him than she did but...something about her.

"Would you like to take your jacket off, it's quite hot in here", she shook her head no. "That is fine how about for today is that we just sit here", he asked watching her think about it.

He expected either answer. She finally nodded and they both simply sat there for the rest of the remaining lesson. He would have to get a transcript of her grades; get them both on the same of one page at least. There session was about to be over in less than a minute and Sasuke had already began to stack up his papers noticing she looked liked as if she wanted to say something.

"Yes, Hinata?", she looked at him in surprise before directing her focus to the floor, twiddling her fingers. A change in personality in less than a both got up at the same time, except Hinata apparently did not have the graceful coordination Sasuke had and ended up tripping. Luckily for her the room was small so Sasuke reacted quick enough to catch her.

They stared straight into each other's face before he notice something;scars on her stood up quickly and walked off, before he could get a single word out; for a second he thought he saw a smile on her. His heart was still racing from the incident, before he shook it away and regained control of himself. Dr. Uchiha noticed a small diary that Hinata had left;small, square, blue with daisies on it.

Diary entry #1

It's my very first diary. One that I bought with my hard work money, one that I had hid from them. My mommy and daddy.

Diary entry #2

I hid my diary under the couch pillow. Few bruises later he still didn't see it. Phew, only mad at the fact I had money.

Diary entry #3

Today was a very good day. One bruise! And an insult. Mommy and daddy had business meetings all day.

Diary entry #4

I hate teamwork. I hate them. They hate me. My little sister is mean to me too. Why?

Diary entry #5

I think she knows! Oh no, I am scared. Five entries and probably will be in trouble.

Diary entry #6

School is starting soon. I'm new and scared but happy. Might have excuses to stay late. I am going to make lots of friends.

Diary entry #7

First day didn't start out well. Spilled a soda on the most popular girl in school. I didn't cry luckily, it would have made it worse. She hates me I can tell.

Diary entry #8

She doesn't hate me! I'm so happy. She says I can never be happy. That really ruined my day.

Diary entry #9

Mommy might be right. Truth is she was mad, she lied to me. I think everyone might hate me now!

Diary entry #10

Happy day tenth anniversary Diary. Sorry it's nothing but unimportant stuff. I will write important things once in a while. Starting...now. Today I had nothing for lunch, and chicken scraps for dinner.

That was all he needed for the moment. By the thought process put into this it seemed as if she started writing it at a young age, either that or she was...challenged to being with. He usually would have given back their stuff, but he unconsciously decided to hold on to it.

He mentally counted down the seconds to zero as Ms. Yamanaka came up to him.

"How did it go with her? Is she crazy? Ill? Misunderstood?" She asked with curiosity.

"Neither of them I think, but it has only been one session so far. I will try tomorrow," he flashed a smile at her. She placed a hand on her own cheek and turned towards the nearest mirror, checking for anything. Nervously she closed her eyes and tried to work up the courage to ask him out.

"I was thinking...maybe we... should...hang out this weekend...like a date".

"Sure".

"REALL-", she spun around in excitement, but stopped when she noticed that it was not Sasuke who responded but her goofy assistant; Ben.

"This Friday then", he said grinning, before walking off to continue with work, and leaving her to stand stupidly; unsure of what just happened. The moment Sasuke got home he immediately noticed something out of place. His eyes scanned the place, but nothing looked as if it was touched; making he was not working hard enough and just slacking off a bit. He still could not put his finger on it but it just did not seem right; nevertheless he made his way back to his office and continued with more work until the rest of the night as usual.

Diary entry #366

I don't like writing in my diary as much because I don't want people to know. My heart is dead but no one would notice, no one ever had noticed. If someone read my diary I would be they might know...

Diary entry #367

I one time read a girl's diary out of curiosity. It was long and beautifully written, with joyous thoughts and the pursuit of happiness. Maybe I can...

Diary entry #368

I lost my homework. I think my 'friends' took it. Only problem is...what friends?

Diary entry #369

I missed a day of school this year. Stayed home because I was 'sick'. I hope no one asks me about it the next day. Then again I wish someone asked me about it. My body is so tired nowadays... I could sleep a year or two.

Diary entry #370

No one asks, as I expected, but not as I hoped. I am not sure that if they asked, would I tell them or not. What would happen if I did? Am I being a brat? Selfish?

Diary entry #371

Missed another day of school. No I didn't go the the doctor, just really weak. I can't wait to leave the house in a few years. Find a job, a house, adopt a child, marry the guy of my dreams or prince charming, whichever comes first.

Diary entry #372

Again another day missed. The school is calling; they are getting suspicious. I might be back tomorrow. I think my name should be spotty instead of Hinata. Though they have to be permanent for my name to change. I am fine the next day usually.

Diary entry #373

I missed half of the school. Only for the first half of the day, and from lunch and the rest of the class I managed to get back to. My grades are slipping but I think I can fix them.

He closed the book, and leaned back into his leather black chair, trying to avoid reading too much into the diary. It had bothered him so much, but he felt as if he should read a few more pages. She did not give him the right to read it, and it could get him in trouble, even to the point where it would not be valid as evidence for abuse.

Diary entry #1460

I don't want to live like this anymore. Mommy was right. I can never be happy. Almost four years and I haven't made one single friend. No one to talk to but myself and my diary.

Diary entry #1461

My body won't hold up longer, I am pale and not the normal kind. Too much blood loss? Or maybe not enough...the knife can only tell.

Diary entry #1462

Diet pills? Nope, sleeping pills. Taking one for tonight. Maybe sleep off the pain, and the rest of my misery while I am at it.

Diary entry #1463

Maybe I should take two pills today. In the morning and before bed. I don't care about my grades anymore. What are they going to do? Hold me back. HA!

Diary entry #1464

Dare me to take five? I took three and didn't feel the pressure and pain. Ha, I am numb, take that!

Diary entry #1465

I am in deep trouble. I think one of the teachers knows about...school...home...does she know about the pills? I hope not. If my dad found out I might be taking more than five before the end of the year.

He stopped reading and placed away the diary, as if it was contaminated. He needed to go to sleep and straining himself wasn't going to be helpful to anyone. So he went to sleep.
