The aftermath of Amon's visit had left the Probending Arena in shambles, especially the upper levels. Mako had no doubt that his and Bolin's little attic had not been lucky enough to escape the damage. They, along with Korra, had run up hazardous flights stairs and tried to salvage what they could of the brothers' belongings- anything that had managed to remain in one piece even as the rafters collapsed and the floorboards caved in.

Mako had vowed to never again let his brother sleep under the stars without a place to call home. So much for that. Even Toza had informed him that he would be staying with relatives until the building was repaired. For a moment, Mako considered contacting Asami. Surely she would have more than enough extra rooms for the two brothers to crash in for a short time. But it was late, and truthfully, Mako didn't have the energy to face her father and apologize for losing the tournament- even against a cheating team- after all the yuons he had invested into the Fire Ferrets. So once again, they had nowhere to go and no place to call their own.

He signed heavily, tipping his head back to look at the now visible starry sky, and despite Bolin's relentless noisy rummaging, it did not go unnoticed by Korra. She cocked her head to the side and seemed to read his current predicament.

"You guys can stay at the island, if you want. There are a few guest bedrooms. Tenzin won't mind; he knows what you went through tonight."

A refusal was on the tip of his tongue, Korra could tell from the way Mako's eyebrows furrowed together in refute, but a glance at Bolin in the smashed up space settled them back down. "Thanks, Korra."

In response, she smiled and hefted one of their bags over her shoulder. With a last look around, they left the destroyed attic, Pabu scampering along behind them.
