Like a Boss
Prompt: The End
Characters: Sawada Tsunayoshi, two OCs [Sawada Carina and Madison]
Tsuna opened his eyes to the sound of frantic whispering.
Karina's voice was rough as she insisted, "You have to be lying."
"Karina, I'm sorry," Madison, her sun guardian, murmured. Tsuna could hear that this was effecting her to. She had lived in Italy long enough that she had learned to hide her accent but now it was slipping through. "I've tried everything! He's just not responding to any of it."
A sob broke through the doorway. "I can't lose Papa, Maddie. Everyone else is gone. I can't lose him too."
"Oh Karina." Tsuna could imagine what they looked like outside the door, Karina with her head buried in Madison's chest and the other girls blonde girls shielding her from the world. "I'm so sorry to be the one to say this, but have you considered that you're papa has lived the best he could? He's done so many good things for this family, he's had a beautiful daughter and a genius son, and three grandchildren who adore him. But, Karina, his siblings, friends, and his guardians are gone. You would be the same, wouldn't you?"
"I know, I know," Karina cried.
Tsuna smiled a bit, happy his daughter understood.
It wasn't like he was purposely rejecting Madison's flames, but he had seen his life through to the end.
Although he loved her and Leo and his grandchildren, the year he'd lived without any of his guardians had been hell.
Tsunayoshi Sawada let his eyes close, knowing it would be the last time he did so with a beating heart.
E/n: Mhm, it's hard to figure out what to say now.
I've been working on this story for a little under two years (would have been two this May) and it was the first thing I remember really getting attention for regarding my reading. There's a certain amount of apprehension in that sort of change.
I hope everyone's enjoyed this story as much as I did writing it.
And maybe, if you've read the whole thing recently enough, tell me some of you're favorites in the reviews?
I'm pretty fond of #57: Go and #78: Seeing Double
