When Sam and Freddie both got married, they were young, fresh, full of life. At 22, Sam wanted to travel the world, and so Freddie traveled with her. Sam lusted for an adventure in South Africa, so they went. Then Indonesia, so they went. Freddie filmed and Sam experienced different became full of culture. Her feet were wet, and she wanted to dance with the world. Freddie danced with her, for three years of their marriage.

Freddie grew tired of the restless wandering. He wanted something stable, stationary. Maybe they could buy a house, start a family, get real jobs. So they relocated back to Seattle after three years of wandering. And that's when it began.

Freddie got a job at a video gaming design company, and Sam… well, Sam hated working. She hated the concept of a "job". She picked up a number of odd-jobs: babysitting, doing occasional labor for neighbors. Freddie figured that eventually she would get used to staying in one place, having a home, thinking about children. But a year had passed, and Sam never did. He eventually scolded her into an office job she hated, and after 3 months of trying to be this stationary, stable adult, she grabbed her old motorcycle and left.

She explored the West Coast with enthusiasm and a new vigor that had long been left in forgotten continents. She walked barefoot on the beach. She was never meant for one place. She was never meant for shoes. She was never meant to stay.

But she did eventually realize that she was married, that she did make vows that still mattered to her, that should matter to her, so after about a month she returned to Seattle. She entered a home of silence, where Freddie left for work in the morning and left her to her own devices without saying a word. It took them another month to actually talk about it.

Sam was a wandering woman. Freddie was a stationary man. They made love in this way, too, with her wanting to go to different places and him wanting to just stay still and secure as they were.

The bed rocked and the tears fell. Sam let out pleasurable moans that turned into uncontrollable tears, before collapsing into Freddie's body. This was their final goodbye.

Freddie was frozen underneath Sam's warm body and wet tears. This was the last time, and after tonight they would never be one again.

Sam eventually pulled herself away from him and lied flat on her back. Freddie sighed into the heavy air.

"This is it." He whispered. Sam nodded. "We're done."

"Forever." Sam added. Freddie nodded.

"Forever."

And then he flashed back to the last time they said forever. The first time they said forever. Forever changed.
