It's been quite some time since I last updated, and I apologize for that, I didn't have much inspiration to write after a death in the family. But here is the next chapter to prove that this is not dead, though I can't promise I will be updating frequently in the coming weeks with my job taking up most of my time.
Also, this chapter was very, very, hard to write for some reason, and even now I'm not completely satisfied with it. I mean, it sends out what I want to the audience, but I guess I don't like the way I worded it. I dunno.
And now to the story!
I hope you all enjoy this chapter, even if there isn't much action.
Resurrection: The Last Z Warrior
Chapter Five: Aftermath Part 3
Within the inner sanctum of the Lookout of Kami, the quiet peace that persisted there was broken by the sound of two pairs of footsteps, an occurrence that had not happened in many ages.
The sound of boot and sandal hitting the ancient, yet beautiful marble floors echoed throughout the chamber, the sound reaching deeper into the structure as the owners of the footsteps ventured further within.
The footsteps stopped, their sound replaced by that of an opening door, before they resumed through the door way.
Within the white, windowless, room were simply three items; two purple seat cushions, and a small, wooden, low table placed between them. Strangely, the room was extremely bright without any light source to cause such a thing.
The footsteps ceased as the two figures reached the table, both easing themselves into the comfortable cushions.
It was time.
"Minato Namikaze, there is much I would like to ask you, and you of me, so let us begin." Son Gohan spoke to the man in front of him, who while keeping a strong face was very anxious about this meeting.
This was a foreign concept to the young adult shinobi, there was very little that ever put him in such a state, but he understood that today was very taxing on his person, and it didn't seem the day was going to end soon.
But he was resilient, and he would endure, and he was sure the knowledge he would gain today would be crucial in the balance of the Shinobi World.
"I will begin then," the ageless Saiyan said after receiving confirmation from his guest, "As I have said before, I have not been around for a very long time, and many things have changed it appears, one of them being is that Humans are much more advanced in the manipulation of inner energies. I want to know more about the power you use and how it came to be." Gohan requested to the Hokage, who nodded in turn and began to speak.
"The power we use is called Chakra, a mixture of our physical energy, Ki, and our spiritual energy, Reshi. The two energies are mixed into Chakra, in our Chakra cores found in the center of our being. Chakra has its own body system similar to the circulatory system through which chakra flows. The Chakra System has 361 tenketsu points throughout the body, which act as release points for our chakra. All living things have chakra, and there hasn't been any proof of otherwise, though there are those born with defects that do not allow them to channel the energy."
The shinobi paused to take his breath before he continued "Chakra is mainly used by the main military force of the continent; The Shinobi. Every major country has a Shinobi Village that houses, trains, and employs their Shinobi.
We use Chakra for many different things as Ninja. It can be converted to attacks of fire, earth, water, wind, or lightning or it can be used for healing wounds and illnesses, or to place an illusion over an enemy to disrupt their senses, or to augment our speed and strength. As you can tell, it is very versatile and has many uses."
Gohan had to agree, it was definitely a useful power, and it seemed that it was made partly from the energy he used. It was quite astounding in his long absence humanity actually evolved from having a measly average power level of 5, to possibly containing warriors that could give low to mid class Saiyan warriors from before Vegeta's destruction a challenge. He even believed that Minato could probably give Tien a good workout with the variety of abilities Chakra seems to make possible.
But how…?
As if reading his thoughts, Minato began with the second part of his host's question.
"As for how Chakra came to be, I can only tell you the legend of the man who was said to first wield Chakra, and gave birth to the Shinobi Era:
Long ago this continent was lost in darkness, a never ending era of conflict and strife. Man betraying man, the slaughtering of innocents occurring on daily, peace just a fools dream…
But then a wandering Sage appeared, this Sage was said to have discovered the truth of humans inner potential; our Chakra, and with it he tried leading the world out of the darkness, and instill peace in the land. He travelled across the land, spreading his ideal and religion, the Shinobi Sect, which is now known as Ninjutsu. His great deeds and ultimate desire to bring peace to the war-torn land made him widely known as the Saviour of this World."
Now this certainly surprised the Saiyan. Sometime during his long absence from the world, some wandering messiah emerged having found the way to manipulate energy? But some things still didn't add up. The young man before him stated that humans use a specific network to channel this Chakra energy. Yet Gohan was sure that the humans alive before gaining his cursed state didn't have such a system. This network within the humans of this time sounded like a mutation of some sort.
'Evolution, perhaps? Gohan pondered.
But that still didn't explain what the catalyst for such a change could be. What could have triggered such a change in humans? What had this wandering sage discovered or witnessed that allowed him to gain access to this power?
It seemed that there was much to be explained, Gohan mused.
Breaking away from his speculations, the Saiyan returned his attention to the blond youth before him.
"Thank you for your detailed reply. Though it did give me more questions than answers, but that's beyond the point. You can ask me now if you wish."
The Hokage had been waiting for this, and was grateful that his host gave him the chance to ask a question before he asked another.
And he already knew what he wanted to ask first.
"Who exactly are you?" Minato began, "I mean, never in my life have I heard of someone capable of having such raw power like what I witnessed you do today. I understand you said that you have been away for a very long time, though I don't completely understand what you mean by that, it still doesn't answer how no one has ever heard of you, even by a legend or myth of someone with powers beyond what we shinobi can do."
A silence settled over the two occupants of the inner sanctum of the Lookout, one anxious to receive the answers he sought, and the other contemplative of how to answer the inquiry directed to him.
A sigh escaped the lips of the cursed demi-Saiyan as he ran his fingers through his gravity defying hair, his head tilted up to look at the bight ceiling, his eyes seemingly lost in memories long since passed.
"My name is Son Gohan, or at least, that's who I once was," The Saiyan began, "Long ago, before you shinobi came about, when humans barely had any knowledge about inner energies except for a rare few, and instead focused on advancing with technology and science, I lived a life under the roof of the man who once was known as the Protector of the Earth and a woman who was arguably the strongest woman alive at that time; my parents."
Here, the seemingly young Saiyan stopped to take a breath, looking at his guest who sat quietly across from him with a hard face tinged with curiosity.
Shaking his head, Gohan continued, "My mother was human, an extraordinary human, but I believe that she would have fit right in with your society if what I saw from you is any indication." Gohan chuckled humorlessly, "As for my father, he was many things, but most importantly he most certainly was not human. He was a Third Class Saiyan Warrior born on the Planet Vegeta, sent to Earth to eradicate all life as to have the planet ready for sale, and yet he became its greatest savior and protector for almost his entire life."
The blond haired Hokage could hardly believe what he was hearing. Alien? This person who looked completely human before him was sired by a human woman and an Alien sent to earth to destroy it, but instead decided to protect it.
Namikaze Minato had seen and heard many things that most would have dismissed as hearsay and blasphemy, yet even though the proof was right in front of him, he still was finding it hard to believe that life forms exist beyond the stars.
His attention was snapped back to reality as his host began to speak once again.
"I know that it may seem farfetched to you, but believe me when I say that aliens are very much real, and many have come to this planet, some with peaceful intentions, most with destruction in mind, and that's where my father came in as the protector of this planet; my father, myself, and a group of our close friends and allies stood together to face anything that might cause harm to our loved ones and the innocent yet ignorant population of the planet. Believe me when I tell you that I have fought beings of such immense power that they could destroy an entire planet with simply a flick of their finger."
Gohan looked straight at Minato, his gaze steely and cold, but within there was the fire of pride of a warrior, and the Hokage could do nothing but stare back at him in utter silence.
"We were known as the Z Warriors, and we were Earths only defense against those who wished to cause harm to the planet, and I am last." He finished.
A silence most common to the Lookout settled over as both men retreated to their thoughts, one lost in nostalgia after finishing his tale, and the other stunned and for once since he started his career as a shinobi, felt all that he had ever done was inconsequential.
"I-I thank you for being so up front with you answer, in my line of work I am used to receiving half-truths and vague answers to such important information." He said, slightly bowing his head in respect to the man in front of him.
Gohan simply let out his normal humorless chuckle, responding to the man before him, "I told you all this simply because I know you are a good man, Minato Namikaze, I can sense your soul, and while it is stained in the blood of countless, I can sense that it was only to protect your people, and that I can understand, but more than that, I can tell that you never let it change you, that you never let it affect you, that you would do what needed to be done for the people that you love and only that. In that respect, Minato Namikaze, you are a better man than me."
"Besides," The demi-saiyan began anew, "My powers do not stop at what you have seen me do to that beast. If I so wish, I can remove from your memories all that I have told you this day, but I will not do that since I believe you are a man worthy of this knowledge and would not abuse it like many others would." Nodding his head in respect to the Hokage, Gohan stood up and began walking towards the door, "Come, Minato Namikaze, there is something that I wish to show you."
Nodding dumbly, Minato wondered what next shock was in store for him.
But more importantly he wondered what would this discovery mean for the entire world.
[Present]
"Minato…t-that's a lot to take in. I mean, we live in a world with giant monsters with multiple tails, but beings from other PLANETS?!"
Sighing, Minato rubbed his forehead, "I know, Kushina, I know, but if his power wasn't enough to convince me, he showed me undeniable proof with what I saw next…"
"What did you see? What did he show you?" The redhead ask.
Looking into the eyes of his beautiful wife, the Hokage answered. "He showed me his fathers home world.
[At the same time]
Green bolts of lightning flashed across the ominous, dark, red sky, the claps of thunder accompanied by shrieking winds
The blackened ground was completely flat as far as the eye could see, yet there stood one spire of black soil and rock, seemingly high enough to touch the sinister clouds.
Atop the grand spire was a flat piece of ground jutting out facing northward, a single solitary figure stood there, slumped, shackled to the ground with shining chains that stood out against the bleak surrounding , his attire nothing but rags barely covering his lower body, his heavily scarred chest completely bare and covered in dust and grime.
The Figure's head was tilted downwards, his spiky blue hair, now almost black from decades of lack of care, was swaying as his shoulders trembled as he muttered something over and over.
"K-ka…rot"
Suddenly the winds stopped, the lightning ceased, and the thunder quieted, these primal elements seemingly scared of what was about to happen.
"K-ka-kakar-ot…"
The Figure lifted his head to look up at the sky, his face an expression of hate and anger. He struggles against his binds, the figure roared to the sky,
"KAKAROOOOOOOOT!"
And with that single cry the clouds parted to show the utter blackness beyond them, not the sight of space as you look out to it from planet, no, this was the sight of utter despair, the sight that let you know there was no salvation.
The sight that let you know that there was no escape from the Dead Zone.
[North Quadrant, Unidentified Planet]
Bodies littered the ground as soldiers walked around, some barking out orders, whilst most running around with the bodies of the planets former inhabitants to the burning site.
Atop a hill overlooking the former capital of the planet, where its denizens decided to make their futile last stand, a massive humanoid man decked in sleek, pure white armor that covered his whole body up to his neck, with a blood red cape that flowed down his back barely reaching the ground. His whole face was covered in a mask with one massive lightning bolt symbol going down from the top right down past the right eye hole, and a red streak to symbolize a smile.
His shaggy white hair ruffled with the passing breeze as he swept in the sight of carnage wrought by his platoon.
Yes, this conquest would surely put him in favor with the Council.
His scouter beeped as his first lieutenant established connection between their scouters,
"My Lord Frost, our surveillance team aboard our ship picked out a massive energy signal on a planet within the quadrant. Sire, the energy level was Alpha Class."
Frost paused as he absorbed the information, before a giggle escaped his lips,
"An Alpha class you say, my dear First Lieutenant, in the weakest Quadrant in the Galaxy? How could this not have been discovered sooner? Ah, it matters not. All that matters is that this Alpha knows how to dance properly…"
The soldiers below couldn't help but shiver as they heard the mad giggles of their Lord.
Someone had excited him and that never ended up well for whoever was nearby.
CHAPTER FIN.
And that is a wrap for this chapter, I am sorry that I didn't conclude the Minato Gohan conversation, but it turned out too big and I have now ten, read, TEN story board document about that particular scene and none of them seem to fit the way I want.
Anyway, instead of finishing that, I decided to show you guys a few more pieces on the board, the actual challenges that Gohan may or may not face in the future of this series.
Next chapter I promise will conclude the flashbacks, will have the council meeting in Konoha, meaning prepare to see the clan heads, Danzo, and all the other older generation, looking for some information as to what the hell happened. Oh that will be SO much fun to write, already looking forward to it.
So yeah, Brolly, that is a really big part of this story, and I promise that the reason for his living will be explained and it's definitely something I've never seen done before.
And my first OC! Frost, crazy, giggly, random, murderous frost. Think Jinx from League of Legends crazy, just to give you an idea until he gets more screen time to really show off his personality.
And last thing I would like to clear up something I stated in one of my previous AU at the end of the chapter. There will not be any other crossovers within Resurrection, I merely meant that there might be other stories after this one is concluded that will be in other anime universes.
On another note, I feel like my style is like that of Kubo TIte, the author of Bleach with how many cliffhangers I put in this story.
Anyway, thank you to all of you that read this chapter, and as always
May your mind be filled with ideas, and your inbox filled with reviews.
