This took a lot longer to finish than I thought it was going to, but I did finish my story. I'm sorry this last update took as long as it did, but when you're basically working full time, you really have to make time to write, and I just haven't done that much lately. At this stage, I don't have any immediate plans to work on another Power Rangers fan fiction story, though I still have ideas for a sequel to this story as well as a Go-Busters adaptation on the back burner. So on that note, I hope you enjoy the final chapter of Day of The Green Ranger.

Chapter 20

Jason walks slowly through the downtown area. He's looking for Goldar, but isn't sure where he went. He is suddenly knocked back by a blast of energy coming seemingly from out of nowhere. Jason lands flat on his back. The blast had caused smoke to start rising from the ground. Through the haze of the smoke, Jason sees Goldar walking slowly towards him.

"I have to give you credit, Powerless Ranger." Goldar says. "I didn't think you'd make it past the squad of putties I left for you."

Jason slowly rises to his feet. "I'm full of surprises." he says. He pulls out his morpher. "Tyrannosaurs!" he shouts, and morphs into the Red Ranger.

"You have your powers?" Goldar says puzzled. "But how? You handed over the Power Coins. We even made sure they were emitting the right energy."

"Like I said earlier, I'm full of surprises." Jason says.

"Well, I've got a surprise or two myself!" Goldar says. Suddenly, a beam of light appears out of nowhere, knocking Jason to the ground. The beam of light then lands next to Goldar and Scorpina appears from out of it.

"It's time to end this game." Scorpina says. "These foolish humans have made their choice. They would rather die fighting us than see us win. It's time to grand that wish."

"2 against 1?" Jason asks. "This hardly seems fair. Are you guys sure you don't want to call some putties to help you and make this fight a little more even?

Scorpina and Goldar snarl at this remark. They both pull out swords and fire a laser blast at Jason. Jason quickly dives out of the way.

"Power Sword!" Jason shouts, pulling out his weapon. He charges at the two of them. Though Jason has faced multiple opponents before he knows that this battle will be more difficult. These are not mindless creatures, like the putties. He knows in order to come out victorious, he will need to remain focused and in the moment.

Jason swings his sword at Goldar, who blocks it the attack with his own sword. He quickly pulls his sword backs and dives away, anticipating Scorpina coming in from behind. He pulls out his blade blaster from the holster on the side of his suit. He fires at the two monsters, but they evade the attack.

Goldar looks at Scorpina, and smiles. Scorpina nods, and charges straight at the red ranger. Jason begins to back up slowly, ready for Scorpina to swing her blade at him. Instead, when she reaches about 2 feet in front of him, she leaps high into the air, out of Jason's reach. She lands on the other side of him. Meanwhile Goldar has closed in closer to him. Jason continues to turn back and forth, trying to formulate a plan, with the two creatures on either side of him.

"Just remember, Jason, it didn't have to be like this." Goldar says. "You brought this upon yourself." Goldar and Scorpina are both about to fire when they hear a couple of loud voices from behind each of them.

"POWER BOW!" "POWER LANCE!" Goldar hears from behind while Scorpina hears "POWER DAGGERS" and "POWER AXE" from behind her. The other rangers seemingly come flying in from behind the monsters, attacking them with their weapons. Goldar and Scorpina fall to the ground in pain.

"Alright guys!" Jason says, rushing to the other rangers side. "Our plan worked. You got the coins back."

"It almost didn't." Zack says. "Tommy nearly stopped us."

"Well, he didn't. That's the important part." Jason says.

"I've had about enough of this!" Scorpina shouts. "Everytime we almost win, they come in at the last second and grasp victory from our hands. Well, not this time. RITA, MAKE GOLDAR AND ME GROW!" She demands.

Rita, who has been watching the fight from her moon palace, loves this idea. She pulls out her magic wand and chucks it towards the Earth! "Magic Wand, make my monsters grow!" The wand hits the ground next to the two monsters and smoke comes out. The monsters begin to glow and grow rapidly. In an instant Goldar and Scorpina are the size of the nearby buildings. The rangers stare at the giant creatures.

"Looks like it's time to call in the zords!" Zack shouts. The others nod. "We need dinozord power, now!" They all shout. Their zords come forth from their resting spots. The rangers quickly jump into their zords.

"We've got no time to waste." Jason says. "Let's form the megazord!"

"Right!" The other rangers reply. They all press the buttons in their cockpits and the zords transform into the Megazord. The Megazord walks slowly towards Goldar and Scorpina. Goldar pulls out his sword and swings it at the rangers, but they quickly manuever their zord to block his attack. They then use their sword to slice Goldar in the chest, knocking him backward. Scorpina tries to sneak up behind the rangers, and hold then still.

"Behind us!" Billy shouts, as the Megazord quickly turns around to block the attack of Scorpina with it's arms. The rangers then make their zord kick Scorpina's legs, knocking her to the ground.

At this time, Tommy runs up to see the ongoing battle. "How are those two so incompetent." Tommy asks to no one. "There's two of them. The rangers Megazord should be no match for them." He shakes his head. "I guess it's time to end this." He pulls out his Dragon Dagger. Pulling the dagger towards his mouthguard, he begins to use it as a flute. A tune echoes throughout the sky that can be heard for miles around.

"What's that music?" Kim asks, inside the megazord cockpit.

Miles away, at the D.E.T.A. facility, the giant Dragonzord comes to life. It swings it's arms and tail around, knocking out the lights in the holding bay. It heads toward the door at the end of bay. The door is closed, but the Dragonzord does not stop it's movement. Instead, it pulls up it's hands and fires missiles out of it's fingers at the door. A giant hole is now formed in the door and the Dragonzord walks through it. It heads toward the downtown area where the current battle is being ranged.

Back at the fight scene, the rangers suddenly see the Dragonzord walking towards them. "What the hell is that?" Zack asks. The Dragonzord moves much quicker than the Megazord does, and quickly runs up next Goldar and Scorpina.

"Looks like Tommy's got a zord of his own." Jason says, starring at the 2 monsters and giant zord in front of them.

Suddenly, the tune Tommy is playing changes, and the Dragonzord charges at the rangers. It swings it tail toward them, which the Megazord catches between it's hand. The blade begins to spin, and sparks begin to fly. "How are we supposed to fight that thing?" Trini asks.

As the rangers fling the Dragonzord's tail away, Goldar and Scorpina come jumping in from behind it. The rangers all throw their controls to the left, causing the Megazord to dive out of the way. It rolls, and quickly rises back to it's feet, but the Dragonzord then fires it finger rockets at the Megazord. These are a direct hit. "We can't take many more hits like that," Billy says. "Shield's are holding for now, but they're down to about 60%."

Goldar and Scorpina both pull their arms back then throw them forward, causing lasers to emerge and fire at the rangers. The ranger try to avoid the attack, and though this is not a direct hit, it still causes some damage. "Shields down to 53%" Billy says.

"There has to be something we can do!" Jason shouts

Back at the Command Center, Alpha is still trying to get Zordon back. Though Trini found Zordon's signal once, she was unable to bring him back. Alpha managed to reverse the course of the search to find Zordon's signal again.

He is watching the battle on the Viewing Globe as this is ongoing, and is getting nervous for the rangers.

"Please be careful, Rangers." Alpha says. Suddenly, the computers begin beeping again. "That's it. This is Zordon's signal!" Alpha says. He beings frantically pressing buttons on the command's centers computers. "Locking in the information now." Alpha say. "Oh, I hope this works." He presses one more button. Suddenly the two collums surrounding Zordon's energy tube begin to glow, then they shoot light toward the tube. A bright flash occurs, and then Zordon's face reappears.

"Zordon! You're back! I did it! I did it!" Alpha says.

"Good job, Alpha 5." Zordon says. "That being said, now is not the time to celebrate. The rangers are in trouble."

"Yes, I know." Alpha says. "There's so much information I need to tell you."

"I'm aware of the situation, Alpha." Zordon says. "Though my communications with this world were cut off, I was still able to monitor the situation from my cut off state."

"Well what are we going to do?" Alpha says. "There's no way the rangers defeat Goldar, Scorpina, and the Dragonzord."

"No, but if the rangers, can get the Dragonzord on their side, there might be a chance." Zordon says. "RANGERS!" Zordon shouts.

Back in the zord, the rangers hear the familar voice of their mentor.

"Zordon!?" Kim shouts.

"He's back!" Trini shouts. "Alpha did it."

"What is it, Zordon?" Jason asks, still focus on the task at hand.

"I may have a way for you to defeat Tommy and the monsters." Zordon says. "Tommy is being controlled by Rita. The only way to break the spell is to destroy his weapon, the Zord of Darkness. The weapon is the only way Rita was keeping Tommy on her side. Destroy it, and the spell will be broken. Perhaps with his help, you can defeat Goldar and Scorpina."

"That's great, but how are we supposed to do that?" Zack asks. "We're a little preoccupied at the moment."

"Jason should go." Billy says. "I can disable his controls so we can still fully control the Megazord without him, plus we don't need to defeat these monsters. Just hold out long enough for Jason to destroy that sword."

"Yeah, and if Jason is engaged in battle with Tommy, then we the Dragonzord won't be attacking us, just Goldar and Scorpina." Trini explains.

"Right." Jason asks. "I'll do my best, guys! Hold them off for as long as you can." Jason quickly exits the Megazord, and starts looking for Tommy. He spots him on a nearby building rooftop. "This ends now, Tommy!" Jason shouts. He sprints towards the building and leaps. His powers amplify his jumping ability and he lands directly next to Tommy.

Tommy turns toward Jason. "Hello, Jason." he says calmly. "Did you miss me?"

"Tommy, I know Rita's controlling you." Jason shouts. "You're not an evil person. I don't want to fight you."

"You don't have a choice." Tommy says, charging at Jason. Tommy swings the Dragon Dagger at Jason, who blocks the attack with his Power Sword. "Come on." Jason thinks. "Pull out the Sword of Darkness already." Jason pulls the Power Sword down from the dagger, slicing Tommy across the chest and sparks fly. This knocks Tommy down to one knee. Tommy pulls himself back up, and pulls out his blaster, firing at Jason. Jason dives out of the way, coming dangerously close to the edge of the building.

Tommy notices how close Jason is to the edge. He smiles, and again charges at Jason. This time, rather than pulling out a weapon, he simply tackles Jason off the edge, and two go tumbling down from a large height. Jason lands hard on his back, while Tommy pulled away in midair, and lands on his feet. He laughs.

"Give it up, Jason." Tommy says. "Sooner or later, Rita will win." Jason stares back at Tommy, struggling to get up from the ground.

Meanwhile, The other rangers are engaged in an intense battle with Goldar and Scorpina. Scorpina grabs the Megazord from behind, and the rangers struggle to break free. Goldar swings his sword across the chest of the Megazord, causing more sparks to fly.

"We can't take many more direct hits." Trini shouts.

"We just need to give Jason a little more time." Zack says back to her. "If I know my best friend, he won't let Tommy and Rita win. We just have to hold out long enough."

"Diverting Power from the weapons to the shields." Billy says. "We better hope Tommy is willing to help. We won't be able to defeat these two with our weapons almost completely depowered."

The rangers manuever the Megazord to break free from Scorpina hold. The grab her shoulder and flip her over them towards Goldar. Scorpina regains her balance, and stops before hitting Goldar.

"You will never defeat us!" Goldar shouts. The rangers stare out the window of the cockpit of the Megazord at the Dragonzord just standing there. "Come on, Jason!" Zack mutters under his breath. "Come on!"

Jason is still catching his breath staring at Tommy, who has begun slowly walking towards him.

"I will enjoy destroying you." Tommy says. "I'll almost be sad to see it end." He pulls out the Sword of Darkness and it glimmers in the sunlight. "Almost." Tommy says.

"Bingo." Jason thinks upon seeing the Sword of Darkness. "That has to be it." He quickly pops up to his feet and charges at Tommy. He pulls out the Power Sword and it clashes against the Sword of Darkness. Tommy kicks Jason in the chest knocking him back and pulling his sword free. Tommy the slams his weapon in the ground, sending a wave of energy toward Jason. Jason dives out the way.

"I'll only have one chance at this." Jason thinks. He pulls out his blade blaster and fires it at Tommy. Tommy deflects the blasts, but as he is doing this, Jason throws the Power Sword at Tommy. This catches Tommy off guard, and ends up hitting him right in the chest. Tommy drops the Sword of Darkness and goes flying backwards.

Jason walks over to the sword lying on the ground. He pulls out his blade blaster again, this time firing at the Sword of Darkness repeatedly. Tommy reaches out for his weapon, but it is too late. The sword begins to smoke and then disintegrates. Tommy then reaches for his head.

"What…" he says. "What is going on?" Tommy asks.

"Tommy!" Jason says. "You were under Rita's spell, but that should be broken now."

"Broken? But how?" Tommy asks.

"I destroy the Sword of Darkness. It made you obey her every will." Jason explains. "Tommy, we need your help. The Megazord can't take much more. Scorpina and Goldar are going to destroy the others. Maybe with the Dragonzord we can…"

"Say no more." Tommy says. Pulling the Dragon Dagger up towards his mouth, he commands the Dragonzord into action.

The other rangers are barely holding on in the Megazord. They notice the Dragonzord spring to life and walks towards the other monsters. It walks up next to Scorpina and Goldar.

"Ah, the Green Ranger must have defeated your friend." Goldar says. "Say goodbye rangers."

Scorpina goes to attack the rangers, but is grabbed by the Dragonzord. "What?" She exclaims. The Dragonzord then swings it tails around and stabs her through the torso. It swings it's tail back around and sends her flying. Then it fires finger missles at Scorpina. "Scorpina, No!" Goldar exclaims. He is stunned by the development of the situation.

The missiles hit Scorpina and cause a huge explosion. In an instant she is gone. The Dragonzord then turns toward Goldar. Goldar quickly pulls out his sword. "This isn't over Rangers. You may have won the day, but the war is just beginning." And then Goldar disappears. The other rangers catch their breath.

"We won?" Kim asks.

"We won!" Zack explains. "Jason did it."

"How could we lose!?" Rita shouts in her palace. She turns to Finster. "This is your fault, you bumbling idiot! How did they break the spell on my Green Ranger!?"

"I tried to tell you my queen that if the Sword of Darkness was destroyed the spell would be broken." Finster explains, cowering in fear as Rita shouts at him.

"And you!" She says, turning towards Goldar. "If I wanted you to retreat from the fight, I would've called you back. I didn't, did I?"

"No, my queen." Goldar says. "I have failed Scorpina, and I have failed you. I don't expect forgiveness."

"Well, good!" She shouts. "Because you're not going to get it. Ugh, I've got such a headache!" She shouts, and then wonders out of the main room in the palace.

Goldar stares at Scorpina's blade. He managed to salvage this from the fight. It was all that was left of the once great warrior. "Scorpina, I have failed you. I couldn't protect you, but I swear I will get revenge on the one who killed you. The Green Ranger will pay for what he did to you." Goldar says quietly to himself, starring of the balcony of the palace, overlooking the Earth.

The rangers, including Tommy, are gathered in the Command Center, with Zordon overlooking them.

"Congratulations, Rangers." Zordon says. "The situation was grave, but you never wavered. You have proven yourselves to be extraordinary heroes."

"Thank you, Zordon." Jason says. "But we couldn't have done it without your guidance."

"And a little bit of help." Kim says, nudging Tommy.

"Don't do that, Kim." Tommy says. "I have done terrible, terrible things. It was like a bad dream. I could see everything that was going on, but I couldn't stop it. I may have helped a minimal amount at the end, but if it wasn't for me, most of this wouldn't have happened."

"Tommy, while some of the actions you completed were despicable, you were not doing them of you own free will." Zordon says. "Had you not been there to attempt to stop the thievery of the Green Ranger Powers, another human being would have been given them."

"Maybe, but…" Tommy starts to say, but is cut off.

"There is no maybe about it." Alpha says.

"Alpha is correct, Rita is an evil sorcerer." Zordon explains. "She would have placed someone else under her spell. Your powers are man made and we enhanced by the Sword of Darkness, but I believe you can help our team. I would love for you to join our Ranger team and help defeat Rita and her army of Monsters."

"We all feel the same way, man." Zack says.

"You could really help us." Kim says.

"Even I agree." Trini says.

"Really, even after everything I did?" Tommy says. "How can you guys forgive me so easily?"

"What you did, you did under Rita's influence, but she can't control you anymore." Jason says. "You own the powers now. Use them to help us fight Rita."

"I've got a lot to make up for." Tommy says. "I guess I can start by joining in the fight."

"Rangers, you have one more person who would like to speak with you. Observe the viewing globe." Zordon says. They turn to the back of the command center where they see Jones on the viewing globe.

"Jones?" Jason asks.

"Hello Rangers." Jones says. "Congratulations, and thank you, for your victory today."

"Rita is far from done." Zack says. "We may have won today, but I'm not celebrating just yet."

"I just wanted to let you guys know that you'll always have an ally in D.E.T.A." Jones explains. "We share a common goal and any and all of our research is available to you guys."

"Really? Did Commander Harrison finally come around to us being the good guys?" Kim asks.

"Not exactly." Jones says. "Commander Harrison is now in the custody of the New Mexico Police Department. Apparently, they found Colonel Freeman's body in the woods near the D.E.T.A. facility. While it's possible that Freeman may have had a heart attack, it would have had to have been in the split seconds before he was repeatedly shot."

"Harrison did that?" Trini asks.

"Well, he was the last one to see him alive and was the one who said Freeman had a heart attack in the first place. Anyway, I know the new commander of D.E.T.A. pretty well and can guarantee you that he'll be willing to work with you guys."

"I can't wait to meet him." Jason says.

"You already have, and you're looking right at him." Jones says.

"You're the new commander?" Kim says. "Awesome."

"Congratulations, man." Zack says.

"Thank you." Jones says. "I've got to go. Lots of important work to get done, but I just wanted to let you guys know that we've got your back. You're not alone anymore." After he says this, the message fades out.

"Well, what are we going to do now?" Zack asks. "Let's not just sit around here waiting for Rita to attack. Let's head out and have some fun!"

"It's been a while since I've had any fun." Tommy says. "Why don't we head over to the youth center? I'll buy."

"You had me at, 'I'll buy'." Zack says jokingly. The rangers teleport out of the Command Center. Zordon smiles a bit and looks at Alpha.

"We've assembled a great team, haven't we have Alpha?"

"We sure have Zordon." Alpha responds. "I just hope that Rita is the worst villain they'll have to deal with."

"They'll cross that bridge when they come to it, Alpha." Zordon says. "And if they do have to cross that bridge, they'll do it like they've done everything else. As a team."
