Marshall stared at the man he punched in wide eyed horror. "Holy-!" He clapped a hand over his mouth, in too much shock.

"Barney, is that really you?" Ted asked, squinting at the two men. "Are you Dr. Horrible?"

"Yes, Ted..." Dr. Horrible admitted. "Marshall, will you get off of me?"

Marshall got off of Dr. Horrible and up from the ground. Dr. Horrible stood up and dusted himself off. Ted shook his head in disbelief while Lily stared at him.

"I can't believe it..." Lily said in shock. "You killed someone..."

"Lily, let me explain..." Dr. Horrible began.

"You singlehandedly took down Captain Hammer and shamed him to go into hiding," Lily continued angrily, jabbing a finger into Dr. Horrible's chest. "Then you kidnap Robin? What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Is Barney even your real name?" Marshall chimed in.

Dr. Horrible shook his head. "No. It's Billy." He admitted with a sigh. "Listen, I was in love with Penny and I didn't mean for her to die! Things just got out of hand..."

So he told them everything. He told them his motives, his hatred for Captain Hammer, why he chose to move to New York, his new persona...As Dr. Horrible finished his story, Marshall actually patted him on the back.

"Hey, it's a lot for you to go through that and then start over," Marshall said when Dr. Horrible finished.

"Y-You guys don't hate me?" Dr. Horrible asked in fear.

"Hate you?" Ted snorted. "No. Why would we? We're your friends."

Dr. Horrible stared at the three. "Really? After all I did?"

Marshall nodded, grinning. "Hey, you've put up with Ted's attempts at getting a wife!"

"Yeah," Ted added until he realized what he said. "HEY!"

"But we love you," Lily said in a loving tone of voice. "No matter what."

Everyone laughed. Dr. Horrible realized that it felt good to laugh. He didn't need to take over the world anymore. As long as he had his friends, especially these friends who loved him, he had the world! Suddenly, he remembered Robin.

"Wait, what about Robin?" he asked.

"Don't worry, I've got a plan!" Marshall reassured.

An hour later, Robin was still moping in her little room when she suddenly heard crashing and banging outside the door. She stood up from the bed and placed her ear on the door to listen.

"What are you doing here?" She heard Dr. Horrible demand.

"I'm here to rescue Robin Scherbatsky!" She heard Barney yell. (Imagine that Barney and Billy/Dr. Horrible have two differently toned voices here).

"Me too!" yelled Marshall, pretending to act. "Right, Ted?"

"You said it!" Ted added. "Same with Lily!"

"I'm here to kick your ass, Dr. Horrible!" Lily yelled in a masculine voice.

Marshall turned to his wife. "Don't do that," He whispered.

"But I wanted to sound macho!" Lily whispered in protest.

Robin heard kicking, punching, crashing, and screaming. Marshall yelled like Tarzan while Barney shouted, "Take this, and that! And some of these!" Then he changed to Dr. Horrible, crying out, "No! Ouch! Have mercy!"

Finally, there was the sound of a vase breaking. "At last, Dr. Horrible is dead!" Barney said. Robin smiled. "Now let's rescue Robin!"

Robin jumped back to make it look like she wasn't eavesdropping. She did it just in time because Marshall kicked down the door and in stepped Barney, no longer wearing the Dr. Horrible coat or gloves. Instead he wore a dress shirt and coat.

"Barney!" Robin cried happily, throwing her arms around him. "You-"

Before Robin could continue, Barney pressed his lips on Robin's, locking her into a passionate kiss while Ted, Marshall, and Lily stood by and watched in joy. He broke away. "Come on, we've gotta go! The place is on self-destruct!"

"Are you serious?" Ted cried in disbelief. "This guy steals my design, builds it, and now he has to blow it up? You've got to be kidding me!"

"Five minutes!" Barney shouted, pointing at his watch. He took Robin by the hand and began to run. Marshall and Lily followed. Ted groaned and joined them.

It took the gang four minutes to get out. They wanted to continue running but Barney asked everyone to stay for a bit. So they stood outside for the last minute and watched the building blow up. As soon as it did, it stopped snowing. The weather machine was brought to the building but was blown up, causing it to stop snowing. But Barney felt he had to watch because he wanted to watch Dr. Horrible's persona blow up in that building. He was a new man. He was Barney Stinson.

At the hospital where Captain Hammer was, Captain Hammer laid happily in his bed, eating his hospital dinner while watching the news.

"Breaking news," said a news anchor on TV. "There was an explosion tonight in which Dr. Horrible has been reported dead. There was no body but his kidnap victim Robin Scherbatsky from Canada has made it out safe. She is currently being checked for any injuries and will be released later tonight."

Captain Hammer grinned. "Ah, I knew they could do it!" He relaxed and put his hands behind his head.

"Hey, Hammer!" yelled a voice from the doorway.

Captain Hammer looked to the door and found Barney, Ted, Marshall, Lily, and Robin. He grinned wider. "Well hello! I see you all made it out!"

Robin glared at Captain Hammer and crossed her arms to reveal a hospital bracelet on one wrist. She had already been released from the hospital after being declared healthy. "So, you were too injured to come save me?" She asked casually.

"Well, I broke my back," Captain Hammer defended.

"That's funny," Lily said, raising an eyebrow. "Because I overheard the doctor saying you just sprained a muscle in your back. You're fine, not crippled! You were just too lazy!"

Captain Hammer's eyes remained glued to the TV mounted on the wall. Barney put his hands in his coat pocket.

"That's okay, because with my job and connections to the media, PLEASE," Barney paused to say. "I let every media outlet know you're a fraud. You're going to be driven out of the city." He smirked.

Captain Hammer's grin suddenly disappeared. "You didn't..."

Barney nodded.

"Hey, there he is!" shouted a tabloid reporter. "Is it true you faked an injury to get out of saving your girlfriend?"

"WHAT?" cried Captain Hammer.

Suddenly, a bunch of reporters came flooding into the hospital room to question Captain Hammer, overwhelming him. He turned to Robin for help, who instead walked out of the room with her friends.

Captain Hammer was driven out of New York right after. Barney never revealed him or his friends to be Robin's hero and he preferred it that way.

A few weeks later, Lily and Robin were casually drinking at MacLaren's when Lily brought up who she had recently run into.

"So guess who's working with Scooter in the cafeteria?" Lily asked.

"Who?" Robin asked, eating some buffalo wings.

"Captain Hammer," Lily replied, stifling a giggle.

Robin snickered. A hairnet did suit Captain Hammer better than his superhero outfit. "You know," She pointed out, stirring a wing in some ranch sauce. "I knew Barney was Dr. Horrible all along."

Lily put down her glass of wine. "You mean when you were kidnapped?" She asked.

"No," Robin casually said. "The whole time I was dating Captain Hammer."

Lily's eyes widened.

"But I thought it was more fun to not say anything." Robin said with a smirk. "But I knew Barney could break free from the Dr. Horrible personality and he did it. That's a superpower in my book."

That was when Barney spun around on a stool at the bar, grinning like a jack-o-lantern. He turned to a random blonde woman next to him. "Hey, did you know that I'm a superhero?" He asked her.

The woman, wearing a green pencil dress, looked impressed. "Really?" She asked. "Which superhero are you?"

"I'll show you!" Barney answered. "In bed!"

Robin and Lily rolled their eyes as the woman slapped Barney in the face. Defeated, he returned to the booth.

"Rejected?" Robin teased.

"Yeah..." Barney admitted in defeat.

"Come on, you great big hero," Robin said with a laugh, grabbing Barney's tie. "Let's go to my place."

Barney grinned, getting up and leaving behind Robin. Lily shrugged her shoulders, taking the remaining buffalo wings and eating them before being joined by Ted and Marshall...

Yes, Barney did have it all. Money, power, a woman lusting for him, and more importantly, friends. He just didn't realize it before.

The End
