So this was written to cheer me up after re-watching 'Reading is fundamental" I wasn't going to post it here but a few people on Tumblr liked it so yeah I decided to post it here. It is part of a verse fic I'm going to make so yeah hope you like it.
Running his hand down his face Dean made his way down the hall following the sound of the cries. He was fighting to keep his eyes open and there was a definite sway in his steps as he made his way to the nursery. Hell, he'd only gotten home an hour ago, dead tired, where he was allotted thirty minutes of sleep before the baby started crying. Now he was up at 2 am tending to a screaming six month old.
Pushing the door open to the nursery he let a small smile spread across his lips as he quietly crossed the room pausing to read the wooden letters Bobby had made that spelt out her name, 'Deanna Mary Winchester. Letting out a small sigh he reached into the crib lifting the crying infant. The small curls of black hair were sticking up all over her head as she cried opening her eyes revealing the large blue eyes only when he held her to his chest.
"Hey princess daddy's here." He let his eyes fall close slowly as her cries became less screams and more actual cries. Dean momentarily wished he had the same powers of whatever uncle Sammy had with Deanna; anytime he held her she stopped crying. Dean teased him and told him it was just because she's never seen a wild moose before but it still stung a little. No matter what he did it always took her time to stop crying when he held her. "Please stop crying for me."
Dean was so wrapped up in his daughter he didn't hear the movement behind him until a solid body was against his. "She's still crying?" the rough voice behind him asked reaching out a hand to run a finger down her arm. "It's because she wants your attention more so than anyone else. She's smart she knows if she cries you'll hold her."
Glancing behind him Dean noticed the faintest of smiles on Castiel's full lips. "Yeah she quiets up with Dad or Uncle Sammy hold her but not for daddy." Neither of them like the name Papa so Dean was daddy and Cas was dad.
Cas let out a sigh putting his hand on Dean's shoulder over the handprint scar he'd left the man years ago. "That's because she is happy with Sam's attention for a little while, Dean trust me she likes it when you hold her." He leaned in pressing a kiss to the back of Dean's neck.
Dean smiled lightly back at the smaller man when he noticed Deanna stopped crying. "I think she likes us together." Dean muttered leaning back slightly into his husband's chest.
He felt Cas's silent laughter vibrating from his chest, "Of course she does, she is our daughter most children like seeing their parents together."
Nodding slowly Dean lifted Deanna slightly pressing a kiss to her forehead before placing her back into her crib lightly. Reaching down Cas grabbed Dean's hand slightly pulling him away from the crib. "Come on." Dean turned to face the shorter man as Cas leaned up and pressed a small kiss to his lips. "You're tired and you need sleep."
Dean couldn't argue with that so he let out a small chuckle and let Cas lead him back to the bedroom they shared.
