The Big Bang pt. 2

We make our way on to the roof to see that it is daylight out.

"What, it's morning already? How did that happen?" Amy questions.

"History is shrinking. Is anybody listening to me? Universe is collapsing. We don't have much time left." The Doctor takes a satellite dish off its pole.

"What are you doing?" Rory questions.

"Looking for the TADIS."

"But the TARDIS exploded," Rory points out.

"Ok, then, I'm looking for an exploding TARDIS."

"I don't understand. So, the TARDIS blew up and took the universe with it. But why would it do that? How?" Amy questions as the Doctor runs to the end of the roof. He turns to look at us.

"Good question for another day. The question for now is…total event collapse means that every star in the universe never happened. Not one single one of them ever shone. So, if all the stars that ever were are gone, then what…is that?" He directs our attention to the sun. "Like I said, I'm looking for an exploding TARDIS."

"But that's the sun," Rory comments.

"Is it?" The Doctor holds up the dish and points it at the sun. "Well, here's the noise that sun is making right now." With the help of the sonic we can hear the noise the TARDIS makes when it lands. "That's my TARDIS burning up. That's what's been keeping the Earth warm."

"Doctor, there's something else. There's a voice." Amy and I turn and look at Rory.

"I can't hear anything," she says.

"Trust the plastic," Rory says pointing to his ear.

"I'm sorry my love." River's voice can be heard.

"Doctor, that's River. How can she be up there?" Amy questions.

"It must be like a recording or something," I say with a guess.

"No, it's not a recording. Of course, the emergency protocols. The TARDIS has sealed off the control room and put her into a time loop to save her. She is right at the heart of the explosion." We stand in shock for a moment. The Doctor jumps off the ledge of the roof and walks back toward us. He puts the dish down and taps the manipulator before disappearing.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

"Amy! Jaz!" We turn around to see the Doctor and River. "And the plastic Centurion?"

"It's ok, he's on our side," the Doctor assures here.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"I dated a Nestene duplicate once-swappable head, it did keep things fresh. Right, then, I have questions. But number one is this," she turns to look at the Doctor, "what in the name of sanity have you got on your head?"

"It's a fez. I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool." River gives me a sideways glance. I grab the fez off his head. "Oh!" he exclaims. I throw the fez in to the air and River vaporizes it with her gun.

"Exterminate!" The Dalek flies up on to the roof.

"Run, run! Move, move! Go! Come on!" We all run for the hatch and make our way down. The Doctor sonic locks the door.

"Doctor, come on," River insists.

"Shh! It's moving away, finding another way in. It needs to restore its power before it can attack again. Now, that means we've got exactly…" the Doctor pauses at the bottom of the ladder and looks at his watch, "four and a half minutes before it's at lethal capacity."

"How do you know?" Rory questions. The Doctor pauses and looks at us.

"Because that's when it's due to kill me."

"Kill you? What do you mean, kill you?" River questions. We start heading back down the stairs.

"Oh, shut up, never mind. How can that Dalek even exist? It was erased from time and then it came back. How?"

"You said the light from the Pandorica…" I start but the Doctor interrupts.

"It's not a light, it's a restoration field, but never mind. Call it a light. That light brought Amy back and restored her, but how could it bring back a Dalek when the Daleks have never existed?"

"Ok, tell us," Amy comments.

"When the TARDIS blew up, it caused a total event collapse, a time explosion. And that explosion blasted every atom in every moment of the universe, except…" he pauses and looks at us.

"Except inside the Pandorica," I finish for them.

"The perfect prison. And inside it, perfectly preserved, a few billion atoms of the universe as it was. In theory, you could extrapolate the whole universe from a single one of them, like cloning a body from a single cell. And we've got the bumper family pack."

"No, no, too fast, I'm not getting it," Rory states.

"The box contains a memory of the universe, and the light transmits the memory. And that's how we're going to do it."

"Do what?" Amy questions insistently.

"Relight the fire. Reboot the universe. Come on!" He heads off.

"Doctor, you're being completely ridiculous," River comments as we follow him. "The Pandorica partially restored one Dalek. If it can't even reboot a single life form properly, how is it going to reboot the whole of reality?" River pauses and the Doctor turns and walks back to us.

"What if we give it a moment of infinite power? What if we can transmit the light from the Pandorica to every particle of space and time simultaneously?"

"Well, that would be lovely, dear, but we can't, because it's completely impossible," River comments with her hands on her hips.

"Ah, no, you see, it's not. It's almost completely impossible. One spark is all we need."

"For what?" River questions.

"Big Bang 2. Now listen…" Before the Doctor can continue he is shot by the laser from the Dalek.

"Exterminate! Exterminate!" Rory shoves Amy and I out of the way as River kneels down next to the Doctor.

"Get back! River, get back now!" Rory insists.

"Exterminate!" Rory points his gun arm at the Dalek and disables it.

"Doctor. Doctor, it's me, River. Doctor, can you hear me? What is it? What do you need?" The Doctor disappears. "Where did he go? Damn it, he could be anywhere."

"He went downstairs…12 minutes ago," I inform her.

"Show me!"

"River…he died," Amy relays sadly.

"Systems restoring! You will be exterminated!" The Dalek springs back to life.

"We've got to move. That thing's coming back to life," Rory comments.

"You go to the Doctor. I'll be right with you." I grab hold of Amy's arm and pull her away. Rory follows closely behind us.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

We make it down the stairs to find the Doctor gone.

"How could he have moved? He was dead! Doctor? Doctor!" Rory calls out as he runs down the stairs.

"But he was dead!" Amy insists.

"Who told you that?" River questions as she appears at the top of the steps.

"He did," I inform her.

"Rule one…the Doctor lies," she says putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Where's the Dalek?" I ask her.

"It died." River walks down the stairs and in to the room where the Pandorica is.

"Doctor!" Amy yells as we see him sitting inside of it.

"Why did he tell us he was dead?" Rory questions as River checks on the Doctor.

"We were a diversion. Long as the Dalek was chasing us, he could work down here," I state.

"Doctor, can you hear me? What were you doing?" River questions. We look up to see the sun growing bigger in the sky.

"What's happening?" Rory question.

"Reality's collapsing. It's speeding up. Look at this room," River directs. We turn around to see everything gone.

"Where did everything go?" Amy questions.

"History's being erased. Time's running out." River turns back to the Doctor. "Doctor, what were you doing? Tell us! Doctor?"

"Big…Bang…2," the Doctor finally states.

"The Big Bang. That's the beginning of the universe, right?" Rory questions."

"What, and Big Bang 2 is the bang that brings us back? Is that what you mean?" Amy questions the Doctor. He nods his head.

"Oh…" River and I state at the same time.

"What?" Amy questions.

"The TARDIS is still burning. It's exploding at every point in history. If you threw the Pandorica into the explosion, right in to the heart of the fire…" River starts.

"Then what?" Amy questions hopefully.

"Then let there be light. The light from the Pandorica would explode everywhere at once," I finish.

"Just like he said," River confirms.

"And that would work? That would bring everything back?" Amy asks.

"A restoration field, powered by an exploding TARDIS, happening at every moment in history. Oh, that's brilliant. It might even work!" River takes his sonic and points it at the manipulator. "He's wired the Vortex Manipulator to the rest of the box."

"Why?"

"So he can take it with him," I comment.

"He's going to fly the Pandorica into the heart of the explosion," River says. Rory, Amy, and I all look up at the exploding TARDI.

"Are you ok?" Rory questions Amy.

"Are you?"

"No."

"Well, shut up, then!" Rory turns to look at her and she hugs him tightly.

"Amy, Jaz…" we turn to look at River, "he wants to talk to you."

"So, what happens here? Big Bang 2? What happens to us?" Amy questions.

"We all wake up where we ought to be. None of this ever happens, and we don't remember it," River informs us.

"River…tell me he comes back too," Amy pleads.

"The Doctor will be at the heart of the explosion," I tell her.

"So?"

"So all the cracks in time will close, but he'll be on the wrong side-trapped in the never space, the void between the worlds," River continues for me. "All memory of him will be purged from the universe. He will never have been born. Now, please…he wants to talk to you before he goes."

"Not to you?" Amy questions tearfully.

"He doesn't really know me yet. Now he never will." We both make our way over to the box.

"Jaz, you go first," Amy says. I stand unable to move as a thought strikes me fast and hard. "Jaz?" Amy questions placing a hand on my shoulder. I turn to look at her.

"If we wake up where we ought to be…" I trail off not able to finish the sentence. She places her hand on my cheek.

"I know." She smiles at me sadly before motioning with her head, "Please go talk to him." I slowly walk up to him.

"Jasmine Pond, the girl who shouldn't exist, yet here you are," he says with a small smile.

"The question now is where I will wake up. River said that we wake up where we ought to be."

"You will wake up in the future. You will have no memory of me or your life with Amy." I blink back the tears that are threatening to fall.

"You can't miss something if you never knew of it in the first place," I say almost in a whisper.

"Remember, the universe is complicated and full of miracles." He winks at me and I smile sadly.

"Amy," I say turning to look at her. She comes up next to me.

"Hi," she greets the Doctor. She walks up in to the box.

"Amy Pond. The girl who waited. All night in your garden. Was it worth it?"

"Shut up. Of course it was."

"You asked me why I was taking you with me, and I said… 'No reason.' I was lying."

"It's not important."

"Yeah, it's the most important thing left in the universe. It's why I'm doing this. Amy, your house was too big. That big, empty house. Just you and Jaz."

"And Aunt Sharon."

"Where were your mum and dad? Where was…everybody who lived in that big house?"

"We lost our mum and dad."

"How? What happened to them? Where did they go?"

"I…I don't…" she turns to look at me with a completely lost expression. I shrug my shoulders having no recollection of it at all.

"It's ok, it's ok. Don't panic. It's not your fault."

"I don't even remember."

"There was a crack in time in the wall of your bedroom. And it's been eating away at your life for a long time now. Amy and Jaz Pond…all alone. The girls who don't make sense. How could I resist?"

"But how could we just forget?"

"Nothing is ever forgotten, not really. But you have to try."

"But Jaz…" Amy says glancing at me and then back at the Doctor.

"I know," he says sadly. Suddenly the room starts to shake.

"Doctor! It's speeding up!" River calls out. I step back as Amy talks quietly with the Doctor. The room continues to shake as Amy steps out of the box and it closes.

"Back! Get back!" River calls out as she tackles me and Amy to the ground. We watch as the Pandorica flies through the roof. River's communicator beeps. "It's from the Doctor."

"What does it say?" Amy questions.

"'Geronimo.'" She reads back to us. There is a bright light and then everything goes dark.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

I am lying on something cold and hard and someone is shaking me.

"Jaz, wake up," I hear the Doctor say as he shakes me.

"Doctor?" I shield my eyes as my eyes adjust. Slowly the Doctor helps me sit up. "What's going on?" I ask looking around and taking my surroundings. "Where's Amy?"

"I'm going to need you to be very calm," he says giving me a hand up. "Take a few deep breaths."

"Doctor, just explain to me what is going on." The Doctor pauses as he contemplates how to answer.

"Well, first of all, it worked." He opens his arms and indicates the TARDIS. "The universe has been restored. The cracks in the universe are gone."

"Ok, well that's good then." I rub my hands together taking a moment to process. "So, um, how did I end up back on the TARDIS with you?"

"Apparently, this is where you ought to be."

"What do you mean?" The Doctor comes over and places his hands on my shoulders.

"Waking up here was the only way for the universe to make sure you were still you."

"If I hadn't, then I would never have been Jasmine Pond." He drops his hands from my shoulders.

"Exactly."

"But I'm not really Jasmine Pond. I never fell through the crack in time, so I was never taken in by the Ponds. How can I be Jasmine Pond?"

"You can be whoever you want to be. You officially exist outside of space and time. You are an anomaly." The Doctor heads towards the control panel and after a brief moment I follow.

"Wait, what does that mean?" I ask as we reach the console. The Doctor fiddles with a few nobs before turning to me.

"I'm not really sure. This has never happened to me before." He takes both of my hands in his and looks me in the eyes. "I promise you we will figure everything out together." I take a deep breath and nod my head.

"Right, then. Now what?"

"Now, you need to get changed." I finally notice that the Doctor is wearing a tuxedo. "We're about to crash a party."

"Amy and Rory's wedding?" I ask excitedly. He grins and shoves me off.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

We land and rush to the door.

"Let's have a little fun, eh," the Doctor says pushing me out of the way of the door. We hear a knock on the door.

"Ok, Doctor. Did I surprise you this time?" We hear Amy question. He gives me a wink and then opens the door.

"Er, yeah. Completely astonished. Never expected that. How lucky I happened to be wearing this old thing. Oh, before I forget, I brought you a wedding present." He pokes his head back inside and motions me over. I step out of the door.

"Jaz! Oh, my God!" Amy laughs as she pulls me in for a very tight hug. After a few moments she pulls away, "How are you here?"

"It's a complicated story that I don't completely understand," I inform her.

"Hello, everyone! We're Amy's imaginary friends." The Doctor walks over to Amy's dad. "But we came anyway," he says giving him a handshake.

"You absolutely, definitely may kiss the bride," Amy says striding over to him. The Doctor places his finger on her lips.

"Amelia! From now on, I shall be leaving the…kissing duties to the brand new Mr. Pond." He gives Rory and handshake.

"No, I'm not Mr. Pond. That's not how it works."

"Yeah, it is," I tell him.

"Yeah, it is," he relents.

"Right, then, everyone, I'll move my box. You're going to need the space. We only came for the dancing."

DWDWDWDWDWDW

Amy and I laugh as we watch the Doctor dance. My eyes drift over the crowd and land on my parents. I watch them dance with a sad smile on my face.

"Does it bother you that they have no idea who you are?" she questions nudging me on the shoulder.

"Not really," I reply truthfully. "I don't really remember them anyway."

"It's weird remembering the life before when I have memories of this life," Amy states.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I would play in your room and pretend that I had a sister," Amy states. "I always felt like there was something missing. And then you and the Doctor show up and I remember everything from both lives."

"That's going to get complicated," I reply with a smile.

"Let's dance," she says pulling me up with a laugh.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

The Doctor and I stand off to the side and watch as Amy and Rory dance.

"2,000 years. The boy who waited. Good on you, mate."

"What happens now?" I ask turning to look at the Doctor. "I mean, I don't really belong here anymore."

"You can always come with me," he offers with a smile.

"Really?"

"Absolutely." He holds out his hand, "Come along Pond." I grab his hand and we head off.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

We make our way to the TARDIS.

"Did you dance?" We turn around to see River standing behind us. "Well, you always dance at weddings, don't you?"

"You tell me."

"Spoilers!" The Doctor takes out River's journal and hands it to her.

"The writing's all back, but I didn't peek."

"Thank you." He also hands her the Vortex Manipulator.

"Are you married, River?"

"Are you asking?"

"Yes."

"Yes."

"No, hang on. Did you think I was asking you to marry me, or asking if you were married?" the Doctor stutters.

"Yes."

"No, but was that 'yes,' or 'yes'?"

"Yes."

"River…who are you?"

"You're going to find out very soon now. And I'm sorry, but that's when everything changes." She turns to look at me, "Jaz, glad to see you're still around." She gives me and wink and then presses a button and disappears.

DWDWDWDWDWDW

We enter the TARDIS and get ready to head off.

"Oi!" Amy says opening the door. "Where are you off to? We haven't even had a snog in the shrubbery yet."

"Amy!" Rory says as he too enters.

"Shut up, it's my wedding."

"Our wedding."

"Sorry, you two – we shouldn't have slipped away. Bit busy, you know?"

"You just saved the whole of space and time. Take the evening off! Maybe a bit of tomorrow," Rory states as he makes his way toward us.

"Space and time isn't safe yet. The TARDIS exploded for a reason. Something drew the TARDIS to this particular date and blew it up. Why? And why now?" The phone starts to ring. "The silence, whatever it is, is still out there, and I have to…Excuse me a moment." The Doctor goes to answer the phone, "Hello! Oh, hello. I'm sorry, this is a very bad line. No, but that's not possible. She was sealed into the Seventh Obelisk. I was at the prayer meeting. Well, no, I get that it's important. An Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express. In space. Give us a mo." He turns to look at Amy and Rory, "Sorry, something's come up. This will have to be goodbye."

"Yeah, I think it's goodbye. Do you think it's goodbye?" Amy questions looking at Rory.

"Definitely goodbye," he confirms. Amy rushes to the door and opens it.

"Goodbye!" she calls out before turning back to us.

"Don't worry about a thing, Your Majesty. We're on our way." The Doctor hangs up the phone, presses a few buttons, and then flips the lever. Another great adventure awaits us.
