"If you suffer, I suffer too."

Heo Hwang Ok remembers saying these words to the man before her. Kim Soo Ro grieves for his lost mother and Hwang Ok's heart goes out to him. She understands the pain of losing one's parent. How could she not, when her own father lies in the ground? Her hand rests reassuringly on his back but she dares not get close. Soo Ro cannot see Hwang Ok's anguish; but then again she's rather adept at shielding her feelings from the eyes upon her. Right now, he's at his weakest and she has to be strong for the both of them.

"I know what you are feeling in your heart right now."

This brings a certain quote to mind: "At the temple there is a poem called "Loss" carved into the stone. It has three words, but the poet has scratched them out. You cannot read loss, only feel it." - Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha
