When John opened the front door of the orphanage, Bruce was standing at the door. John paused, looking him up and down. He was wearing a black shirt with a light jacket and jeans. This was the first time he had ever seen Bruce dressed so casually.

"I'm-"

"I know who you are," John said cutting him off. He opened the door wider while stepping to the side. "She's inside." Bruce nodded mumbling thanks under his breath as he stepped through. He began walking with John barely keeping up behind with his fast strides. He instructed where to go and Bruce listened by turning corners.

"She's in there," John said pointing to the door. Bruce hurried up along.

"Gen…Gen…" Bruce shook her shoulders gently to wake her up. She stirred slightly but was still groggy. But when she opened her eyes seeing Bruce standing over her she gasps and almost jumped out of her seat to embrace him. He closed his eyes, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Gen breaks away from the hug and went to hug John. He was always the misbehaving teenager but not in her eyes anymore. He was going to be someone that she will be proud of when he grows up.

The couple left the orphanage hand in hand. John watched from the window. Bruce opened the passenger door for Gen to step in and closed it shut then made his way around to the driver seat. The car turned on with a purr by Bruce. She looked at the orphanage again, spotting John from the window and waved bye. He raised a hand, mimicking her action.

Gen turned her attention to Bruce. His eyes were on the road but his hand was holding tightly onto her hand. He brought her hand up to his face and rubbed his lips over her knuckles. The action made her smile and she squeezed her grip on him.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Gen asked.

He shook his head. "No, not yet."

She nodded and turn to look at the road instead. It was a silent ride but she didn't mind. Bruce kept holding her hand while occasionally rubbing his thumb over her knuckles. When they reached the penthouse, the sun was beginning to rise. Alfred gave her a tight hug once she stepped inside.

"Oh thank god," Alfred whispered. After taking a hot shower and having some breakfast in her belly, she settled down on the couch with Bruce by her side, Gen was the first to explain what happened to her.

"I'm going to kill him!" Bruce exploded up from the couch. Gen grabbed his wrist and pulled him back down.

"My hero," She said sarcastically. "But, you've got some story to tell too, mister,"

Bruce sat back down and hesitated. He was unable to find the words and form them to explain to her what happened. But he nodded and began. At first, she was horrified but then shock overcame her hearing her best friend's death. She felt hot tears rolled down her cheek as he finished the story, avoiding to look into her eyes. He then informed her of Harvey's injuries and she shook her head.

Her shoulders shuddered and Bruce went over to her side and pulled her toward him. She leaned against him and cried. It almost sounds like she was wailing too. She sniffed, wiping the last tears on her sleeve and stood up going to the bedroom.

"Where are you going?" He asked still sitting on the couch.

"I have to go. I have to go the hospital. To see Harvey." She replied.

He shot up, "No, you are not. You are going to stay here and rest. I lost count of how many times you've had a close brush with death." He stopped her by her shoulder when she finished putting on her shoes. He turns her around to make him look at her. His face, pained. "Please, Gen." He whispered.

Gen pushed away his hands and unlock the door. "I just to see for myself. And then I will be back." The door opened with a click.

"You promise?" He asked. Gen turned around and cupped one side of his face with her hand. He leaned into it, nuzzling.

"I promise." She said with a smile.

Harvey awoke with one eye opened. He was bandaged on one side. He felt sluggish probably from the sedation. He reached to touch the bandages but he stopped when he spotted something on the table. His lucky coin. He fumbles for it, marveling at its shiny face. Suddenly, he remembered Rachel catching the coin. He turned the coin over. The other side was devastated. Harvey stared at the scarred face and started crying, shaking his head and then let out a scream. It bounced and echoed off the walls.

When Gordon arrived, he asked the receptionist which room Harvey Dent was staying in. When she informed him, he nodded a thanks to her and made his way through the hallway she pointed for him. When he entered, Harvey was staring to one side. He looked normal from where Gordon was standing.

"I'm sorry about Rachel," Gordon said waiting for a response. Nothing. "The doctor says you're in agonizing pain but you won't accept medication. That you're refusing skin grafts-"

"Remember the name you all had for me when I was at Internal Affairs? What was it, Gordon?" Harvey interrupted him.

Gordon shifted, uncomfortable. "Harvey, I can't-"

"Say it!" Harvey snapped. Gordon flinched at the sudden anger. He looked away, ashamed.

"Two-face. Harvey two-face." Gordon said almost mumbling. Harvey turned to face Gordon. The left side of his face was destroyed. The skin blackened and shriveled. His molars visible. The eye only a ball and socket. Harvey managed to form a small smile with the good side of his face.

"Why should I hide who I am?" He asked.

"I…I know you tried to warn me. I'm sorry. Wuertz picked you up- was he working for them?" Gordon asked. Nothing from Harvey. "DO you know who picked up Rachel?" Again no response. Feeling a bit frustrated, he spoke again. "Harvey, I need to know which of my men I can trust."

Harvey looked at him coldly. "Why would you listen to me now?"

Accepting the cold shoulder and persisted no further questioning, Gordon spoke again, "I'm sorry, Harvey."

"No. You're not. Not yet." He spoke.

"Harvey? I heard the news. I rushed here as possible. I heard about Rachel too-" Gen's voice was heard through the door and she stopped midway and gasped looking at Harvey. Gordon and Harvey turn to look at her. A hand came up to cover her mouth in horror.

"Gen." Gordon greeted.

"They…they told me it was bad. But…" Gen said her voice shaking. She couldn't stop staring at the burn. In all her years of seeing injuries from infections, diseased body organs and so on, never had she seen a burn like his so this degree. Harvey narrowed his eyes but said nothing.

"You!" He shouted making Gen jumped. "It was you!" Harvey yelled, jabbing a finger at her.

Gen looked at him with wide eyes, confused and concern.

"It was your fault! It was your fault she died! It should have been you!" Harvey roared. Gordon kept an eye on him, watching to make sure he didn't make a move at her. Gen stepped back, her bottom lip quivering. Her eyes were starting to water and her vision was blurry.

"It wasn't my fault!" She whispered. Her voice shaky. Her knees felt wobbly.

"It should have been you!" Harvey screamed. His hand shot out and he grabbed the nearest object next to him. It was the plastic food tray. Gordon acted immediately and blocked Harvey's view from Gen. But it was no luck, Harvey was quicker and threw the object at Gen. She let out a yell and jumped to the left as the tray hit the wall and clattered on the floor.

"Get out! Get out!" Harvey screamed as Gordon tried to hold him while avoiding his injury.

Gordon turned to look at her, "Gen! Go!" He ordered. Gen walked backward. Her back hitting the doorknob and her hand blindly finding the knob while her eyes still locked on Harvey. He was screaming and thrashing around while Gordon was struggling to hold him down. She opened the door and the cop that was standing guard by the door rushed in along with a staff of nurse and a doctor as well. Gen excused herself and went straight to her office.

Her shoulders bumped into patients and staff but she didn't care. She just wanted to be in her office before anyone can see her cry. When she reached her office, she slammed it shut and leaned against the door frame and heaved out a sob. Her body sliding down against the door and she sat on the floor. She brought her knees together to cover her face.
