Hello! It's been so long! I hope either you are still reading or this update has convinced you to get back into Ouran, because even after 4 years it still holds up as a great show! Here is my follow on of the story, please review and tell me if the gap has changed my writing at all!

Haruhi awoke to the faces of four devastatingly handsome gentlemen whispering over her.

"Well it clearly wasn't soundproof enough, Hikaru! Poor Haruhi must have been up all night down here!" Tamaki thought of Haruhi tucked up in one of the caves in the Jungle pool they were currently arguing in, shivering with fright at the storm that had been raging on above.

"I don't know what to tell you Tamaki, we had the best guys in an-"

"The room was fine Hikaru, thank you very much for going to all that trouble. I came down here because I couldn't sleep just knowing the storm was happening. After some time in the pool I was too tired to go back upstairs so I guess I just drifted off here?"

Tamaki continued to scold Hikaru for not thinking of giving his precious "dau-FRIEND!" a basement room.

Haruhi looked around, she was sat on a makeshift bed that consisted of bathrobes and towels on a patch of fake grass near the waterfall. She decided she must have sleepily constructed it herself last night, despite feeling like she would have remembered doing it.

Haruhi then recalled the discussion she had had with Kaoru last night, how he had kissed her and said he didn't think she'd made her choice in Mori.

Oh no, Mori! She thought, I don't know much about dating but I am pretty sure you are not supposed to kiss someone else!

Haruhi put the thought to the back of her mind, though her improvised bed was comfortable she realised she had slept in her swimsuit and needed a shower and some dry clothes.

Hikaru and Tamaki were so engaged in their bickering that they did not notice when she stood up, and caught Kaoru's eye. He mouthed, "You're welcome" and gestured to the pile of robes and towels, Haruhi smiled a thank you and the boy responded with a wink. This interaction did not go unnoticed by the host club's shadow king, who twitched at the thought of Kaoru Hitachiin stealing his top contender for a future bride.

Kaoru could not stop smiling after his late night encounter with Haruhi in the Jungle pool. After leaving her to ponder the kiss he went to the Jacuzzi room to try and calm himself down, but the excitement was too much. After well over a year of subtlety and sexual tension he had finally been straight with the girl, she now knew the score. Sure there was the possibility Haruhi would push this to the back of her mind and resume her indifferent approach to romance but Kaoru was hopeful that he had awakened something in the girl.

After an hour he was still desperate to know what was going on in Haruhi's mind, so he went back to the Jungle Pool to see if she'd had any revelations. Instead she had fallen asleep by the poolside, so Kaoru went to the locker rooms to grab some robes and towels.

After a shower and some dry clothes (ripped jeans, a cream sweater, and some brown chelsea boots) Haruhi joined the hosts in the lobby, who had decided a day out of the resort would be a nice break from the water. Haruhi felt substantially different around the host club that day. She wondered if it was the late night she had had, or maybe it was the new outfit she was wearing, courtesy of the twins ("Ripped jeans Kaoru? But they haven't been in for years!" "Relax Hikaru, the author neglected this story for so long they are back in!"). Regardless, Haruhi felt very aware of herself, and just how handsome these rich bastards were.

Haruhi thought about an awkward conversation she'd had with Ranka a few years back. He had failed miserably at giving his daughter the sex talk as she was already well educated from school and even had to correct him a few times. After what felt like more of an education for Ranka, he said to his daughter

"Well what they can't teach you in school, Haruhi, what you cannot read from a book, is how you are going to feel"

"Dad, you know I am not some love crazy fool! All I want to do now is focus on my studies so I can get into Ouran Academy, and even then I will be so busy maintaining my scholarship I doubt I will even have time for extra curricular activities, let alone a relationship!"

"But Haruhi, soon there will be a time when you aren't so busy, and you will start to feel new things for people! Exciting things! Sometimes they are good things, and sometimes they are bad things. I just want you to know that love can be really complicated and that I am always here if you need to talk it out."

Haruhi thought about that night at Kyouya's beach house where he'd pinned her to the bed, the time the twins had gotten playful with cookies, and the kiss with Mori that had started this whole thing. At the time she felt indifferent to these actions, Kyouya was just teaching her a lesson, the twins were trying to annoy Tamaki, Mori- well she couldn't think of a motive for Mori, putting it down to an emotional outburst for missing Hani. But when she recreated these scenarios in her head, the information she had received from Kaoru coupled with her new found disposition, meant she felt intrigued, even a little excited.

Kyouya noticed Haruhi's attitude change almost instantly. Though Tamaki and Hikaru made many offensive and ignorant assumptions about "commoners" as they walked through the town next to the resort Haruhi did not once correct them, or call them rich bastards. He was desperate to know what went on between her and Kaoru the night before and decided to corner the more level headed twin in a souvenir store whilst Hikaru and Tamaki were distracted with children's toys and Haruhi was still stuck in her head.

Kaoru grinned at the shadow king.

"Let me guess. You want to know what happened last night."

"We are on a team building retreat and it is prudent to know what kind of team building is going on" Kyouya said with a forced smile.

"Oh Mom, don't worry! If anything I have done you a favour, I have done us all a favour! The cards are on the table. I bet right now Haruhi is considering her options!"

"Her options?" Kyouya raised an eyebrow

"Exactly, she's probably thinking about that kiss with Mori last week, that kiss she had with you after dinner-"

"How do y-"

"Tamaki told me you dropped Haruhi off alone, it's not rocket science. And I bet she's comparing both those boring encounters with the incredible kiss we shared last night. Oh Kyouya, you should have seen it…" Kaoru wrapped his arm around Kyouya's shoulder, and gestured to a flashback,

"I was glistening in the light of the water, her big brown eyes locked onto mine, I pulled her in with the passion of a true lover, and our lips met for what felt like an eternity! I swear she was about to run her fingers through my hair before I had to stop and catch my breath!"

Kyouya took a deep breath and pushed the mischievous type off his shoulder.

"You kissed her. Big deal. So have I. So has Mori. I am sure if he had a stool to stand on Hani could have kissed her, she is very passive. What I want to know is what you have said to her to make her so quiet!"

"I told her I didn't believe she had made her choice yet, and I think she is now realising she has the option to choose."

"She hasn't made it yet? What do you mean?"

Kaoru began scratching the back of his neck in shame

"Haruhi is kinda dating Mori"

Kyouya's face went white for a moment

"Did you find this out before or after your 'incredible' kiss?"

Kaoru chuckled awkwardly in response.

"Well that was not a fair thing to do to your fellow host. I suggest you lay off the incredible kissing whilst Haruhi and Mori are still dating."

"Yeah, you're right. I think we should both let this play out."

But neither host had any intention of doing so.

It's done! I'm sorry if it's a bit short/messy, especially the format! 4 years has made me rusty! Keep reviewing! I love hearing people's thoughts on this! It keeps me writing!
