Hello all! Sorry it's been so long since I last updated, there's just been a lot going on and I just never ended up updating. But I'll try to be more frequent with my updates. Please enjoy Chapter 8, which I made longer than the rest of them because I said I'd do my best to make longer chapters.

Ch 8: Home Sweet Home?

"Cody, can you get some wood and cobble?" I simply nodded back, unable to speak. I took a few pickaxes and axes and headed out into the forest to get some supplies for our new home. I replanted trees as I chopped them down, not wanting to change the environment drastically, and knowing I may need them later. When my axes broke, I moved into a small nearby cavern, mining as much stone as I could before all but one of my pickaxes also broke. I like to save one for emergencies.

Heading back to the small dirt shelter with the wood and cobble, I wondered what our new house would be like, and how it would look with children in it. The thought was warming, and I was very excited for the days to come.

As I continued to walk, thinking about the future, I noticed that the leaf overhang was growing more dense than it seemed earlier. I scanned the area for any signs of my saplings from before, but found none. Panic began to take over, and I looked for a break in the trees so that I could find the sun's location in the sky.

Running back in the direction that I came from, I struggled to find an opening. I then realized I could build up, and found that the sun was quickly setting. Cursing myself under my breath for not being more careful, I quickly set up a small dirt home in the entrance to a nearby cave, and hoped Luna was ok.

I ran through the grass as fast as I could. Oh, how I wished to enjoy it. But the mobs, so many mobs, chasing me through the beautiful grass. The root. The dreadful root. I saw it a second too late, tripping and falling. The mobs caught me then, and I tried to scream. Nothing came out.

I didn't even bother trying to get up. I knew I was a goner. Much to my surprise, the mobs lifted me up by my limbs and began to carry me. To where, I was clueless. So I watched with nervous interest as we continued on our way. There were some Endermen and Creepers in front of me, some Skeletons in line with me, and a variety of mobs gathered behind me. A couple of Zombies were carrying me.

Within a few minutes, we had entered a forest. I thought maybe they were going to bring me back to their lair, or something similar, and possibly torture me for information. Information that I didn't have. Information that I couldn't give them. But I froze as soon as I recognized the small house in the clearing. There were children playing outside. Innocent children. Unsuspecting children. My children. I watched with silent horror as the mobs moved towards my children. I tried to cry out, break free, anything to protect them. But it was no use. And as the first Creeper began to hiss, their high-pitched screams were the last things that I heard before the chorus of explosions.

I woke in a panic, frantically looking around, trying to break free. But I was alone, surrounded by dirt. As I remembered everything, I drastically calmed. Breaking a block of dirt, I looked into the sky, trying to guess the time. It was still dark, the stars still out, and the moon just beginning its descent. I covered the hole and lay back down on the ground, drifting off once again into sleep's calming care.

I awoke to the sounds of burning mobs. Getting up, I began taking down my little dirt hut, hoping beyond hope that I would find my way home.

I walked back towards the direction that I believed to have come from. Sure enough, after about an hour of wandering around, I came across familiar surroundings. Allowing my feet to guide me, I sprinted through the forest, silently gasping when I realized where I was.

I quickly ducked behind a tree, not wanting to be seen. How did I end up back here? I wondered silently. Peeking from behind the tree, I noticed that the street was empty. I also noticed where my previous house was, and quickly darted from tree to tree to get closer to it, remembering how I ran away before.

Once I was closer to my house, I could see where I had run into the woods when I escaped with my wife. Luna, I thought, hoping she was ok. I began to run towards the familiar area when I was tackled to the ground. Grabbing for my sword, I jumped up and held it defensively, searching for my attacker. When I saw it, I gasped. It was a dog with a black collar. A police dog, I thought worriedly. I knew that if I didn't kill this dog it would either follow me home or take me to the police station. I also knew that if I killed it they would know that I was here.

Suddenly I saw a blur out of the corner of my eye. It tackled the police dog to the ground and growled in its face. I smiled. Rex. I had forgotten about my dog in my haste to get my plan done. I watched as the two dogs growled at each other and brawled in what used to be my backyard. I silently hoped that no one would get suspicious and come to see what all the noise was.

I glanced around. All was unnaturally quiet. While wondering why this may be the case, I didn't notice that the growling ceased until I snapped back into focus. Looking at Rex, a wave of surprise washed over me. Him and the police dog were looking at each other, a new light to their eyes. A familiar light. A light of love. Smiling a little, I motioned to Rex to follow, indicating that his friend could come too as long as she didn't give us up. He nodded and they followed me into the woods and towards where I now call home.

I pressed on through the trees, increasing my speed so that I could get as far away from the village as possible. I dodged the trees haphazardly, rushing to get home to Luna, the dogs following behind closely. Soon, I reached the saplings and followed them back home.

The sun was slowly descending behind me as I ran between the saplings to get back to my home. The sweat was beading down my face, and my vision was beginning to blur. No! was the last thing that crossed my mind as I fell face-first into the ground, passing out from exhaustion.

I could feel the rope before I opened my eyes. The rope bound me tightly and chained me to the floor, restricting even the slightest attempt at movement. I was trapped and gagged, despite my lack of voice. I looked up, unsure of what was going on. I was in some sort of a vehicle, being transported to who knows where. Outside I could see trees, and I quickly came to the conclusion that we were in a forest. But who was 'we'? I glanced around, but I was alone.

Suddenly and without warning, the vehicle came to a violent stop. I looked up to see figures wearing all black moving silently towards me. I was unchained from the floor and fell with a loud thud, then was picked up by the strange figures and blinded and carried off of the vehicle.

I was thrown to the ground roughly, and re-chained to something. My blindfold was removed, and I looked around, taking in my surroundings. The figures were leaving, and I was in a large dark room made of what appeared to be cobble. I looked around and noticed a window. Squinting, I saw the dark figures approach the window. Quickly, one looked at another and nodded, and a lever was pulled. I watched in horror as a spawner fell from a hole in the ceiling and landed on the opposite side of the room. Slowly but surely, mobs began to spawn, and I silently hoped that I wouldn't be noticed. And for a while, I wasn't. Until the Enderman spawned.

He noticed me right away, being that I was watching the mobs and didn't have enough time to look away. The other mobs were then aware of my presence, and they began to cross the room, stumbling over each other in their haste. I struggled uselessly; the rope was too strong and too tight for me to escape. As the first of the mobs reached me, a Zombie with a sword sliced at me just as everything went black.
