Chapter Six
All and all, talking and spending some one-on-one time with Roxy had done some good for Bloom. After talking things over, Bloom started to re-consider late admissions to Concordia Arts as an art major. After spending nearly a year in 'the real world' the conforms and security of returning to school and becoming a student once more was a bit of a security blanket. The more Bloom thought about Concordia and started to wonder what it would all be like and what it might be like to be a somewhat normal college student. Bloom began to feel her mood brighten and some of her insecurities fade away. As she turned down Water Street and onto Rogers' Way, Bloom pulled out her phone and called up the magic wide web, slowly becoming more and more oblivious to the world around her.
As Bloom's wide bambi-like eyes locked onto an image of Concordia's large and modern campus, the sky above her slowly grew darker and stormier. Dark rain clouds flocked together and thunder started to rumble. Just by chance, Bloom glanced up from her phone and looked around.
Silence.
There was no traffic, no chatter, and no anything.
Only silence.
Downtown Gardenia appeared to be a ghost town with no sign of any life. There was no cars on the street, no venders, not as much as a light from the many appartements shined thought the window treatments. The only sign of life was Bloom herself, who stood in the middle of the heart of downtown, nothing more.
What's going on here? Bloom did a three-sixty as she looked all around her. This was all too strange, Bloom looked down at her phone's screen, in bold letters it read the time, seven thirty am. "This isn't right." She said under her breath as she hit speed-dial number seven, Stella. No sooner did Bloom press her phone to her hear, a bolt of lightning flickered in the sky and a chill when up her spine. Bloom's eyes widened when she realized that that chill wasn't just any run of the mill chill, but an effect of dark magic at its finest.
"Dark magic," Bloom said as she waited for the call to go out. "Come on Stella, pick up."
Just as the words escaped her lips her connection was lost. Surprised, Bloom pulled the phone away from her face and examined the mobile device. Full batter and bars. Bloom's eyes narrowed into stills, after slipping her phone away her hands found themselves forming fists and her body automatically adopted a battle ready pose. Her heart beat faster as she felt the dark magic strengthen and effects of it getting stronger on her. Her palms began to sweat, and breathing increased rapidly as she felt her own energy lose power. There was only one thing left to do- Bloom raised her arms and called out, "Bloom Magic Winx, Believix!"
One cue a gust of bright shimmering light emerged from within her body prompting her to elevate into the air as she danced in a familiar motion. As she danced around she could feel her own inner magic emerge, fire escaped from her body and wrapped itself around her body, burning her street clothing away and replacing it with her shimmering blue and pink Believix outfit. As she turned, Bloom felt a light tugging sanitation on her upper back as her wings grew outward. After one last turn the light diminish and Bloom found herself in the middle of a dark downtown Gardenia.
Instinctively, Bloom rose into the sky and flew up higher into the sky. The high she got the stronger the dark magic became. Her previous symptoms increased and her wings began to lose their luster and gained unseen weight. Determined as she was, Bloom kept flying.
"Come to us, chosen one. The Black Flames await you." A voice called out.
Bloom whipped away sweat from her brow, she wanted to call out for whoever it was. But her gasps for air where too close together. "I…am…." Was all she could say.
"Don't listen, chid. BEWARE!"
"Come to us."
"Don't chosen!"
"Come!"
On and on, the voice flooded Bloom's mind. Too caught up with the argument of the unseen, Bloom failed to notice a ray quickly headed her way. The ray of energy plowed right into Bloom, sending her flying down towards the Earth and knocking her out. Too weak from the effects, her Believix form vanished and a unconscious Bloom was left in midair. Seconds away from hitting the hard cement.
