who needed rescuing,

Jack laughed at the watch with a jack of hearts on the face.

100 years later, Jack seemed grateful for the watch,

but not in the mood to laugh.

100 more and the coffee they shared tasted bold;

the night they shared was bolder.

Another 100 years and Jack tried hiding from the Doctor's gaze,

but he enveloped Jack in a tearful embrace.

The watch kept track of Jack's years for the Doctor,

but sometimes the Doctor cheated, because

sometimes it was too hard to stay away.
