Note: Technically, the story is done, but here is the epilogue for anyone who doesn't like loose ends.
A New Day
Day 42
You sure about this?
You survive a near-death beating and NOW you're scared? What gives?
I dunno…I mean, I know Fuyuki is back to normal, but I can't help but think that, you know…
Oh, no. Woman, you are so messed.
W-wha?
You're afraid Fuyuki won't pay as much attention to you now, right? You actually want him to be your psychotic stalker?
NO! NO! Of course not! I just want him to be happy!
Come on. It's fine. You're goody-goody, but you're also human.
Whatever. Anyway, you saw how happy Aki and Natsumi were when Fuyuki returned to normal.
Hmph. Let's not talk about those two traitor bitches.
We've been over this like a thousand times! They were scared and desperate! Besides, they were so apologetic and kind afterwards. Oh, and remember, I started this whole thing. I kinda had it coming.
Yeah…
Listen. We'd probably do the same thing in their shoes.
Well I got an excuse! I'm pure evil!
And about that. How can you be pure evil and still care about both me and Fuyuki?
You don't believe Kururu's explanation or something?
No…I'm just curious to your thoughts.
Well, he said that in the process of creating the evil Fuyuki, a portion of MY "bad aura" siphoned off into him. I guess it kinda makes sense. I mean, I never had any urge to talk to such a weakling like you before.
What changed?
I felt bad for you.
Look, if you're just talking to me out of pity, you can stop. I don't need that.
Hey hey! No need to get so touchy! We're a team now, right?
I suppose.
I hope you're not this cold when you enter that classroom and talk to Fuyuki.
Sh-shut up!
Momoka's hand faltered on the sliding door of her classroom.
Hey, other self?
Wassup?
You think my feelings got through to him? You know…do you think he remembers anything?
Momoka…
Yeah, yeah. I know. We've gone over this a lot too. I'm prepared for everything to be back to normal. I don't even have scars to prove my experiences were real. Keronian tech is too good sometimes.
One, you really don't want scars. Two, who cares if everything is back to normal. You've changed, and that's all that matters. Go in there and say hi. What's the worst that could happen?
…
Come on, now. You've proven yourself to be braver than I ever gave you credit for.
…thank you.
Without another a thought, Momoka opened the door and walked in. Fuyuki sat on the far side of the room. He was looking out the window.
Sucking in a deep breath, she walked quickly over to him.
"Um…hi!"
Remember! Stay classy!
Shut up!
Fuyuki turned around and stared into Momoka's bright eyes. His serious face slowly changed into a smile. As their gaze locked, Momoka knew that her love unceasing was not one-sided anymore.
"I don't think I've told you this before," began Fuyuki, "and I think it's pretty late in coming, but…I…I love you, Momoka."
"I love you too."
It was the only words she could squeeze out of her choked up throat.
A small tear formed in the corner of her left eye, and, for the first time in over a month, it was a tear of joy.
THE END
Thank you for all your support, dear readers!
