" Sarah Jane, come down here please." Dad was calling me down. He may be the great Noble Cabot, but since Ledger stopped the demolition of the old conservatory at his uncle's ranch with his savvy, my father has become a new person. I mean, he still collects the weirdest things in Sundance, but he seems happier. Before Ledge left to go back to his home at the end of summer vacation, my dad explained everything to me. About my mother having a savvy, the birch tree in the front yard, and my savvy. I didn't even consider what would happen if I had a savvy, but life is just like that.

I ran down the stairs in my green converse sneakers, the smell of eggs and bacon wafting through the air. " Coming Dad!" I'd developed my savvy skills well enough to convince Hedda the Horrible to take a... "vacation" to mars. I could write anything and people would feel persuaded to do that or believe every word that I write.

"Sarah Jane, I have to go out for the weekend. I see you have.. Uhhum.. Permanently given Hedda a vacation, so I have no choice but to leave you here." He didn't say this with a smile. " But you are still a Cabot child, and so you still have rules to follow."

WAIT!

Oh no. I finally now realize how dumb I was last night. Ledger's coming; while dad is home. The sheriff came last night. He said he'd tell dad. Oh no, oh no, oh no! Ok, Sarah Jane, don't freak out. You can do this. Send a letter to Ledge. Give a card to the sheriff telling him to forget everything he saw last night at the party.

I zipped through the house cleaning up as fast as possible. Maybe getting rid of Hedda the Horrible was a bad idea after all. I sped upthe stairs and got my pen and quickly wrote to Ledge. But maybe having him come to Sundance isn't such a bad idea, we could go to the salvage yard and maybe he would sculpt another necklace for me and... Wait, Sarah Jane, snap out of it! I finished the letter and ran it to the only post office within 70 miles. Good, done. Wait, no, got to give the sheriff the card.

COMING HOME... NOW!

Just then my phone rang. Daddy. " Sarah Jane, Good News, I'm coming home early. I should be home in an hour. I love you."

An hour. Ok, I can do that. I ran to the sheriff's, and ran home. I was panting and sweating, but I had just made it; dad was pulling up in the driveway now. I took a deep breath , wiped my brow, and put on my best daddy's-girl-face. " Hey Dad!" I said as he got out of his car. My dad looked surprise, and brought me into a hug, and told me that that he was right to trust me.

5 MINUTES LATER

Knock-knock. Who was that? I hadn't expecting anyone. My dad answered the door. I heard a deep growl and so I went to the door. " Wheres the party?" Ledger said with a huge grin on his face. I nearly fainted. My dad simply said, " Sarah Jane, you have a lot of explaining to do."
