Chess

This was one of the first MMAD stories I've ever written! OOC, fluff, and all that good stuff.

Disclaimer: I don't own HP

Minerva and Albus were in the middle of a game of chess when Minerva decided to speak about something that had been on her mind for a while, "Albus?"

"Hmm?"

She started carefully, just in case, "Have you ever…loved someone, but never told them because you thought they didn't return your feelings?"

Albus gave her a small smile; he had, and she was that person, "Yes."

"My sister thinks I should tell him," she said quietly, looking at her hands, a little embarrassed.

He felt like his soul was being eaten from the inside out; Minerva loved another. His one love loved someone else. It was to be expected; he's much older than her, and she would never feel that way for him. His poor old heart was broken, and he tried his best not to show it on the outside, "You should; you'll miss out on a lot if you don't." I know I have, he thought.

"Okay; I'll – I'll tell him soon," she said, nervous.

There was a pause in which both professors were silent. Minerva called his name again, "Albus?"

"Yes, my dear?"

"I love you," she said.

Albus's mouth dropped open in shock; she returned his feelings? His broken heart was mended, and it grew four times its size. He pinched himself, just in case; it hurt, so definitely not a dream. He grinned broadly at the nervous witch before him, "I love you too. You are the person that I spoke of."

"As are you," she smiled shyly.

Albus was too happy to contain it. He got up from his seat, went over to Minerva, gently pulled her from her seat, and looked into her eyes as they stood a few inches apart, "Well, my dear, do you know what comes next?" He held her hands close to his chest, rubbing the back of them with his thumb.

Minerva titled her head to the side, considering him, "No, I don't believe I do. Could you enlighten me?" She smiled a half-smile.

"Of course," he grinned. He closed the distance between them and captured her lips in his. She responded immediately, dropping his hands and wrapping her arms around his neck. As their kiss grew passionate, a moan escaped from the back of Minerva's throat. Albus pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist. The chess game sat forgotten.

Odd ending, sort of…one of my first, remember when (if) you review. Be kind, please!
