To me, the story kind of ends abruptly but hey, I was always bad at endings...and beginnings...and middles...yea... why do you people read my stories?

Brainwashed

"Bolin, what's wrong with you today!" I yell out as he gets knocked into zone 3. He's off today, too distracted again. I get knocked into zone 2 while my mind wanders and I'm soon joined by Korra. She shoots me a questioning look, but I just shake it off. While the other team continues to try to knock us back, I notice they're trying to aim past me more than at me. I also notice that Bolin hasn't been throwing anything either.

"Bo?" I call out to him. We lock eyes and I can see all the self-control he tried to hold onto, fade away. Eyes full of fear turn into eyes full of malice and he launches a disk at me, one I barely dodge. I stare incredulously at him as he continues to attack me with a barrage of clay disks.

"What's this? It seems Bolin is going against his own team! What is the Fire Ferret doing and how will his teammates stop him?" the announcer booms in his microphone.

"Bolin!" Korra calls out, still trying to hold her own against the opposing team. When he hears her voice, his attention shifts from me to her and throws a disk at his new target. I run over to her, knowing she won't be able to react in time. Just as she turns to see what's going on, I step in front of her and send a wave of fire to block the attack. Ignoring the fear and confusion on her face, I take her hand and run towards my brother, blocking and dodging the attacks he sends at us. By now, the other team is just watching this unfold along with the rest of the audience.

"And now it seems Mako is leading Korra and heading towards his brother. Have both of the Ferret brothers gone crazy? What's going through their minds!" the announcer's voice drowns out all the sounds of the audience and their jeering. I can see the bewilderment in his eyes when he watches me run towards him and I know he's trying to fight it.

"Mako, what are you doing?" Korra asks as we get closer to Bolin and the edge of the ring.

'Guess the championship isn't going to happen for us.' I think as I tackle Bolin and send us over the edge into the water, dragging Korra with me. Korra's the first one to crawl out of the water and she helps me as I push Bolin out.

"M-mako" he says weakly when I lock eyes with him. I push the little curl that hangs down from his hair off of his face and I can tell he's still trying to fight the damage Amon caused him.

"Is it from the brainwashing?" Korra asks sadly. I don't give an answer, the pain is hitting too deep. I start to sit him up and Korra helps me lift him and take him out of the arena.

The crowd is outraged, the announcer is calling out to us, but I just want to leave.

I want to go back to the time when I could protect my little brother.
