Okay so here's a preview for a new story. In this story, Rachel is me. I am a type one diabetic and while I do exaggerate a little, this is what life for me.

YJ goes to Bearskin Meadows Camp

"Hi, I'm Rachel." Who would have guessed that those words would have changed our lives and flipped our world upside down. Those words introduced us to a world where heroes are everyday people. Mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, and complete strangers. They serve in armies, navies, police forces, and the FBI. They, and so many others, save others everyday. They wear uniforms, not costumes. The are the superheroes. But they aren't the superhumans. True, there are times when it seems that they are superhumans, rescuing people who were about to fall into death's clutches. Giving their lives to save others. And I don't want to take anything away from them, but the real superhumans are the people who fight a losing battle everyday. They don't go out with armor and guns, though. It's not that type of battle. It's an internal battle. The real superhumans are the people who fight things like cancer, diabetes, and all types of other diseases. We, as in the team and I, got to meet one of these people.

Rachel. She is the craziest, coolest, and overall best person you will ever meet. She is a diabetic. She has lived with it sense she was two and a half years old. She's fifteen now. She showed us what it means to be strong and to never give up. She didn't think her diabetes was a big deal, she always said that there are people who live with cancer and other worse diseases. But, if I were in her shoes, I wouldn't have been able to deal with it. She tends to right it off as something that came naturally to her like breathing or talking (she talks a lot). She was raised to be a good person and take care of herself. Other diabetics got the disease at an older age so it might be harder for them to adjust. Not Rachel. She can only remember herself with diabetes, not as a non-diabetic. So again, not a big deal for her. She has Type 1 diabetes, also called juvenile diabetes. This is where the pancreas doesn't produce the hormone, insulin. This causes flu like symptoms along with having to go to the bathroom a lot, passing out, and many other things. Her parents had to take her to the hospital and the rest is history.

Rachel came to us from another version of this Earth. She came here from California and she was very hesitant to accept the heroes of this world because of the absence of them in her world. She was transported here after Kalrion's magic made the adults disappear. No one really knows how she got mixed up on the magic. It took a little while, but she opened up to us. First to Kaldur, because he reminded her of a nicer version of her own brother. Then to Robin because, well, who doesn't like Robin. Then, to Megan and I. She showed Megan how to cook and I taught her how to shoot a bow better than what she had picked up at diabetic camp. Then she made Zantanna happier than she had been sense her father became Doctor Fate and took interest in her magic. She got Conner to open up a little bit more and she got Wally to teach her a lot about science. She got Roy to shut the hell up. She made everyone's life a little better.
