The End of All Things

One year... it's been one whole year to this day that Kid had boarded his plane to go on his European tour with the rest of Luring Soul's and Death's Apprentice leaving Maka to take care of her ill mother. When Maka went home, she found out her mother received some rare virus that she must have received from one of the poorer countries she had travelled to, to help the people who lived there. That was what Maka's mother, Kami's, purpose in life was to do, help people, but seeing as she had lost all movement below her waist. Plus there was also the fact of Kya.

Maka looked towards Kya now, they were standing in the kitchen together, the two legal daughters of Kami Albarn, one biological and one adopted, but Kya and Maka did not care about this small border between them. Kya was adopted by Kami while she was helping some villages in a small region of Chad Africa(*1*) when Kami came across this little girl, who was 6 at the time. She was being abused by her father for not purifying the water before bringing it back home as well as for not being considerate enough to buy him alcohol instead of the loaf of bread she actually bought. Kami bought the girl off of her father that instant and she renamed her Kya and she has been a better mother to Kya than her father, or anyone else could have been. Now Kya was 10, helping Maka back cookies for her birthday party at school tomorrow. Kya in contrast to Maka had a rich dark black skin ton as well as chocolate colored eyes and frizzy black hair that was left to hang around her head in a half afro have bob-cut style. Her front two teeth were crocked, but it only made her cuter when she smiled, already 5 ft, Maka knew she would grow up to be a tall beautiful woman. "Oneesan, how many cups of flower do we need?" She asked over her shoulder, getting the measuring cup out. Before Maka could answer there was a small beeping sound coming from her laptop. Maka nearly pounced on it causing Kya to laugh.

"Ooooo oneesan's imaginary boyfrienddddddd!" Kya teased as she went to go and read the email over Maka's shoulder. Maka shooed her away so she could read it in private. It was from Kid, Maka knew that for sure, because it was his special tone she set specifically for his email and no one else. Since he left, they have been constantly emailing each other because texting and face time would be too difficult with the time zone differences. This email was special though, because she hasn't received one from Kid for 2 weeks, the longest time span yet, plus he should eb returning home soon. As far as Maka could tell, Kid has kept his promise of staying faithful to Maka, not showing a lick of interest in any other girl Maka has seen him on the news with.

Due to the bands success, they were able to keep the media on them and not on what Maka was doing now. The news has dubbed her "the one that got away" seeing s she was able to disappear off their radar for a year successfully (which Maka could also thank the people in her town for).

Maka reread the email twice, not believing how short it was or why there was nothing more than a sentence out of the ordinary: At 4:30 on November 3rd, stay home all day and make sure you turn to channel 88 and watch what's on.

Maka checked the clock and flung herself at the television. "What's wrong?" Kami asked as she saw her distressed daughter run into the t.v. room.

"Mom I'm sorry but I need you to go to channel 88 now, I only have a minute and I got this strange message from Kid to watch-" Without a seconds hesitation, Kami nodded changing the channel. Maka was happy they closed down her entire block for the day, not allowing people to enter or leave their homes due to this major movie scene or photo shoot or whatever being taken outside. No one was allowed to even look out the window seeing as police were guarding the street for trespassers.

Maka watched the t.v. program give off a quick introduction. It said it was the new music video from Death's Apprentice called Somewhere in Neverland and that the entire song was written by and will be sung by Death the was a small message at the beginning of the video, it read;

To My Dearest Wendy... let's run away

It began with guitars strumming to a catchy tune in the background with the drums setting a steady, easy to dance to beat. Kid's image appeared on screen and he was wearing a school uniform as he stood in the hallway with the rest of Luring Souls and Death's Apprentice. They all looked exactly the same as how Maka remembered them and she gave off a slight dismayed sound at seeing them all goofing around without her. As the guitar got softer, Kid turned towards the camera and began to sing, taking small steps forward at a time, everyone from the band dispersing from where they were standing. Kid's clothes rapidly changing into work clothes as he took off his school vest and swapped it for a suit top.

Say goodbye to the halls and the classes
Say hello to a job and the taxes
The Weekends with old friends spilling into 9 to 5 routines

Kid walked into a cubical, the walls around him caving in on him as he sang, everyone else was now in work clothes along with Kid, looking worn out doing their work reminiscing on the days they had fun in high school. The cubicles began to spin behind Kid and everyone else as they tried to escape.

Tell me how you feel over and done with
Like your life is a map with no compass to guide
At the bar drinking way to much
We sing along to forever young

Kid gave everyone a look as they jumped out of the cubicles going to escape.

So here we go again
Wishing we could start again

The bands jumped down and came back up their work jackets were rolled up and a little crumpled as they let loose their hair, looking more like their party animal selfs. Liz, Patty and Tsubaki were all letting their hair drop free as they were going to their favorites interments. The sass in Liz's step made Maka laugh. Kid looked around at the rest of the group before a guitar was thrown at him and a microphone popped up in front of him.

Wendy run away with me
I know I sound crazy don't you see what you do to me
I wanna be a lost boy
Your last chance
A better reality yeah

Now the camera broadened out to show a video screen playing in the background with videos of all of their tour some of the videos, actually almost all of them were revolving around Kid and Maka goofy off backstage, writing songs, sleeping on the tour bus together. Maka could feel the piercing star from her family as they questioned what she really did during her tour. The camera zoomed back more towards Kid's face once more.

Wendy, we can get away
I promise if you're with me say the word and we'll find a way
And I can be your lost boy, your last chance
Your everything better plan
Oh! Somewhere in Neverland
Somewhere in Neverland

Everyone threw their instruments away as the screen switched in front of them, a table being pulled across the center while people were sitting together around a dinning room table. They were all eating pasta with shrimp sautéed in clam sauce, Maka's favorite meal. They all used comically large utensils to eat it as well, this idea probably came from Patty and Blackstar, who always thought it would be funny to eat with a giant fork or to murder someone with a giant knife (obviously Patty thought of the murder use of the giant utensils).

We'll start a life of the plain and the simple
With great times and far better people
And weekends with out friends
Laughing about the wine that stains their teeth

Kid jumped over the table as he continued to walk forwards, not waiting for the others to finish there meal as he went to go and jump around on a common street block before entering a park, Maka barely had time to analyze the street seeing as Kid was already picking up a flower in the 'park' he entered and was singing to the camera or in this case, Wendy.

We'll talk about how your parents separated and
How you don't want to make the same mistakes as them

Maka's biggest fear was turning into her parents, and the only people who know about this are Kid, Liz and Blair. No one else knows about how her greatest fear is being cheated on by a man, being taken advantage of, falling in love with someone just to have them run away from her. Maka told Kid this and he replied with how they would work it out together, and that he would forever be there with her. Maka was Wendy.

I say it's all about sticking it out and trying to feel forever young...

Maka gave out a small whimper at the next line in the song. "What's wrong?" Kya asked Maka who was watching the video intently, tears running down her face. Maka whipped away the tears that escaped her eyes as she turned to her family.

"He said that to me, he promised me that we would stick it out when we would separate and that he would always be there to support me... this song was written for me..." Maka said turning to her family before going back to look at the television. Everyone was silent as Kid was walking towards the camera to meet up with his band once more. Together they somehow ended up on a cliffside.

So here we go again
Wishing we could start again

Together they all jumped and a new video was playing of them all in tour, stage diving, Maka flipping, Maka dancing like a professional stripper or a professional dancer, Kid rapping, and finally to their cross stage final kiss, all of these images were flashing rapidly across the screen as the chorus was being sung.

Wendy run away with me
I know I sound crazy don't you see what you do to me
I wanna be your lost boy
Your last chance
A better reality yeah
Wendy we can get away
I promise if you're with me say the word and I'll find a way
And I can be your lost boy
Your last chance
Your everything better plan

Kid came back onstage once more as the videos ended, he was dressed in his usual white dress shirt, black pants, black sneakers, suspenders and skulls rings as he sang into the camera.

Oh Somewhere in Neverland

'Ohs' were being sung by Soul, Blackstar and Chrona in the background as everyone joined Kid, all wearing everyday outfits they seemed comfortable in. To Maka's surprise, Kilik and Ox were there too! Stein, Marie... everyone they encountered on their tour that made the slightest affect on them was there, even the girl who Liz gave the guitar to was strumming off in the background. Kid looked into the camera, smiling as if he knew something Maka, or the viewers didn't. More people, probably professional back up dancers entered the stage, but... they looked kind of familiar.

So here we go again...
Wishing we could start again

Everyone jumped with Kid as the screen in the background fell back to show a painting of the sky, everyone had wind blowing in their face as they all looked as if they were running forwards through the clouds, as if they were flying away to Neverland.

Wendy run away with me
I know I sound crazy
Don't you see what you do to me?
I wanna be your...

The screen behind them, which was really just a sheet, broke away from it's stand revealing the all to familiar street of Maka's hometown when the break in the song occurred, Kid continued singing as Maka looked at the signs.

Lost boy!
Your last chance
A better reality, yeah
Wendy, we can get away
I promise if you're with me
Say the word and we'll find a way
And I can be your lost boy
Your last chance
Your "everything better" plan
Oh, Somewhere in Neverland

Behind Kid were her neighbors holding up signs that said "Run Away Wendy" and "Go find your Neverland". One sign even said, "Just because we're stuck here, doesn't mean you have to be~ Mom". Maka turned rapidly to look at her mother who shrugged her. "I can handle myself from now on..." She said with a smile. Maka looked back to the screen to see while everyone was jamming out, Kid was walking away. He went to knock on someone's door. There was a knock on the door and Maka was shocked for a moment as the song died to a small steady beat. She felt Kya nudge her.

"That door's for you, you moron." She said, some small tears staining her face like her mother's and Maka's face. Maka nodded her head in disbelief as she went to answer the door. Standing there was Kid, a small oh so familiar Kid smile crossing his face. He grew taller, he towered slightly over Maka now and he filled out build wise she noted as she looked at him as he was actually standing in front of her. A sorry expression crossed his face when he saw tears on Maka's face.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make you cry." He said as he went to whip away the tears from Maka's face. The moment his skin came in contact with her, Maka knew this wasn't a dream.

"Kid... you're actually here?" She asked shocked. Kid smiled, leaning his forehead against her's, looking into her eyes.

"I told you I'd come back for you right?" He asked. Maka laughed slightly as she still had tears streaming down her face. "So my dear 'Wendy'... my dear Maka, will you run away with me?" He asked her. Maka looked behind at her family who gave her a look that said, 'be free'. Maka turned back to Kid and literally jumped on him. Kid caught her as they fell onto their front lawn, the grass cushioning their fall. Maka kissed Kid for the first time since he left and she felt him kiss back with the same longing. She pulled away for much needed air.

"I'll take that as a yes?" Kid said with a slight laughter in his voice.

"You can take that as a hell yes." Maka said going to kiss him again. Everyone around them cheered for the reunited teens as the sunset over the horizon, ending one of the greatest days of Maka's life.

1) Chad, Africa is a place, specifically a country in Africa and since it has a cool name, I thought Kya should come from there!

Well then, to make Kami a little less hated, I made her seem nicer herein some what of an apology to all of you who wanted her dead in previous chapters

And so we have the end of Let It Rock, writing this story was one hell of an adventure, and I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I loved writing it... I wish you all a nice day and for those of you who don't know what to do with their lives seeing as this is over... I'm sorry I don't know what I'm going to do with my life either...

The End...
