Author's Note: ….well, I've taken forever with this, huh? Haha, I'm sorry everyone! Forgive me, please!
Anyways, I'm sure you're curious as to why it took so long. Point blank, I didn't feel like writing. I hadn't felt like continuing since I updated the sixth chapter. Though, now I have nothing to do. I can't go to school because I have no money at the moment. I'm trying my best to find a job but I don't have that much experience so nobody would hire me. Thing is, I don't have a schedule to worry about.
On that note, I decided to update. I feel excited, happy, motivated, inspired and I am deciding to transfer those feelings into writing as well. Yaaayy~!
Information on a need-to-know basis: Previously, I have stated that this story will not necessarily be in chronological order as the books/ film but that's only because I want to do it my way. Seeing as I am adding Kagome into the mix, I feel that the timing should be changed around.
Disclaimer: Really? I still need to do this? I already stated I don't own them at all and never will...
Have fun!
Hearing the sounds of footsteps running throughout the hallway, Kagome looked up and to the right. "Hmmm, who could be running through the halls this late anyway?" Kagome spoke quietly to herself. "Tch, like I care about what student is running late."
Although Kagome had stated that, her curiosity got the better of her. Her eyes never left the area in which the sound was coming from. What met her eyes made Kagome smirk.
The Golden Trio had ran past the pillars of the hall and towards the small hut located on the grounds of Hogwarts. "Of course," Kagome said, "I should have known it was them that would be running somewhere."
'But where exactly are they going?' Kagome thought before taking notice of how late it actually was. Kagome's eyes widened a considerable amount before she rushed to place her things within the bag at her feet. "I should have taken more notice of the time, dammit! If Father - or worse, Sesshomaru - found out about this, I would be scolded for sure!" Kagome frantically placed her bag onto her shoulder and ran in the direction of the stairs which was coincidentally where the three Gryffindors were headed as well.
Making it to the start of the stairs, Kagome started to go past them before noticing that the Gryffindors had unknowingly took the wrong staircase. "Unknowingly... Or maybe they plan on going somewhere forbidden again," Kagome whispered as she stealthily watched them panic. "The third floor. Isn't that forbidden?" Kagome asked. "Whatever. It doesn't pertain to me."
Although having said that, Kagome found herself racing up the staircases and managing to make it to their destination before the other three got there. Looking around, Kagome noticed how dank and dark the floor was before she saw the torches turn on before she noticed Harry, Ron, and Hermione running towards where she was at.
Gasping in shock, Kagome turned and tried to open the door only finding it locked. The other three breathlessly made it to where she was at before noticing Kagome struggling with the door. Ron, his breath ragged and face a bright red, asked her directly, "What the bloody 'ell are you doin' here, Kagome?"
Letting go of the handle in frustration, she turned and basically snarled, "I followed you guys earlier only to find myself coming here before you. Now, can one of you open the damn door?" Kagome half - yelled, half - whispered.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Oh, move over!" Pushing Kagome and Ron out of the way while ignoring Kagome's hate-filled glare, Hermione muttered, "Alohomora."
The others watched in amazement as it opened up before being pulled into the room and having the door shut behind them.
Ron and Kagome both looked at her, Ron in amazement and Kagome in slight interest. "Alohomora?" They both asked her.
Hermione smiled a little before rolling her eyes and answering, "Standard book of spells, chapter seven."
With that Kagome had moved forward to stand next to Harry as Ron and Hermione placed their ears to the door to listen. After a slight moment, Ron nodded to Hermione.
"Filtch is gone," Hermione stated.
Ron responded, "Probably thinks this door's locked."
Kagome spoke up to them, "It was locked." She stated with a slight smile as she found the moment slightly exhilarating. 'I should follow these three around more often...''
"And for good reason."
All three turned to look at Harry in question before they paused in horror and fascination. They watched as the large three headed dog snored then growled as it felt the intruders.
All of their eyes widened completely before they let out a unanimous yell. "Ahhhhh!"
Hearing the yelling, the dog awoke completely and sprung to attack but the four first years had managed to leave and close the door; however, the dog still fought against it before they finally managed to close it completely.
Kagome jumped away from the door and took a deep breath in to gain back her composure. "Well," Kagome started and gained their attention, "that was fun. Let's not do it again, yeah?" She turned to walk away but Hermione stopped her.
"Why did you follow us then?"
That one question rang through Kagome's brain as she tried to realize just what her reason was for following the Golden Trio. Not turning around, Kagome threw the answer over her shoulder as she walked away. "I was bored."
Kagome had continued down the staircases while making sure that no one took notice of the Slytherin walking down past school hours. It was one thing to still be walking around, it's another to be walking around in an area where you clearly have no business; student or not.
Sighing, Kagome quickly made her way down to the dungeons before reaching the door and uttering this month's password. Making her way inside, Kagome casually made her way to the left to head to bed before realizing that she no longer had her bag with her. "Oh, dammit! I dropped it behind one of the torches before entering that room." Kagome scolded herself for her carelessness before quickening her pace.
Just as she was about to head up the stairs, a cold voice stopped her. "And where were you at this late hour, Kagome?"
Kagome clenched her eyes shut in hopes that she was just hearing things. Exhaling the breath she was holding in, Kagome turned around. Upon seeing her eldest brother standing a mere five feet away from her with his eyes narrowed and arms crossed in front of his chest, Kagome knew that she had to think of something quick before she got into more trouble that she is in.
"Hello, brother," Kagome started, "what are you still doing up?"
Uncrossing his arms, Sesshomaru stepped towards Kagome. He took note of how she hesitated before standing her ground in front of him. "I asked you what you were doing outside of the dormitories at this late hour, little sister."
"Oh, right!" Kagome exclaimed brightly as if just having an epiphany. "Well, you see. I was in one of the hallways reviewing my notes and finishing homework when suddenly I realized just how late in the day it was. Practically night time by then." Kagome finished part of her tale in hopes that her brother wouldn't ask anymore. 'At least that part isn't a lie...'
"And how is it that you did not notice when the other students were heading off to their dorms for the rest of the night?" Sesshomaru questioned next with a small smirk.
"Oh that's simple, really. I chose a hallway near the edge of the campus because of how rare it is that a student passed by. There were a couple of the five and six years plus some professors but none that bothered me or were too loud." Kagome spoke in one breath as she struggled to finish her answer.
Sesshomaru straightened up while allowing the smirk to fall. "Hn." He turned around and headed towards the male dormitory. "Head to bed, Kagome. Tomorrow, we shall go searching for your bag that you must have left behind in your rush."
Kagome flinched at the thought of having her brother follow her to where she had supposedly left her bag. "Oh dear Salazar, please help me!" She whispered to herself before turning on her heel and heading off to bed.
The next day, Kagome woke up groggily and anxious as she thought of what to say to her brother to keep him from coming with her to look around the school for her lost bag. As she got ready, she ignored the comments of how she looked like she didn't get much sleep because let's face it, she was too nervous to get any sleep. "I'd rather face a three headed dog than my own brother any day." Kagome said as she walked down the steps only to bump into a slightly soft wall.
Blinking in surprise, Kagome looked up and noticed Sesshomaru standing in front of her and smirking with his eyebrow raised - a look she has come to despise at times. "Oh, good morning Maru! I didn't think you'd be awake this early." Kagome laughed out while rubbing the back of her neck in slight worry. "I was just gonna go find Draco and see if he wanted to spend the free day doing something fun." Kagome figured that if Sesshomaru was too busy today to deal with her lost bag, this excuse would help her perfectly. Moving to go around him, Sesshomaru stopped her by pulling on the back of her robe.
"I don't think so, Kagome. Did you forget about your bag?" Sesshomaru's question made Kagome stop altogether.
Turning her head to look at him as best as she could, Kagome could only laugh quietly. "Oh, about that. You see... I was actually going to ask Draco if he could help in a pretense of having fun! I'm sure you have too much on your hands to deal with me."
"Nonsense, Kagome. I have nothing planned for the day, either. Come, let's get this out of the way." Sesshomaru had long since put her down and had already walked forward before pausing and indicating that he expected her to follow.
"Great, this is going to be one hell of a wild goose chase," Kagome said before groaning. "I did not get enough sleep for this!"
As Kagome caught up with her brother, she made a point to stay behind him as she tried to think of where to lead him.
"You will bring me straight to where your bag was last and you better hope we find it, Kagome." Sesshomaru spoke without bothering to look at her expression.
Kagome flinched before silently sighing. Look at his back, Kagome tried one last time to stall him. Swallowing her fear, she brought out her coldness and asked, "And just what do you plan on doing, brother?"
Sesshomaru paused before turning around. "Then I would know, for sure, that you have lied to me, Kagome. We would not want that," Sesshomaru answered causing Kagone to gulp.
'Yup, I'm going to die today...' Kagome thought before walking in the direction of where she last was. 'No use in prolonging the inevitable.'
By the time they got there, Kagome - of course - took note that her bag was not there. Turning around to face her frowning brother, she grinned. "Maybe someone chanced upon it and decided to take it in... hopes... of... Not working?" Sesshomaru crossed his arms. "No?" He shook his head. "Okay then..." Kagome finished.
Looking at him, she inhaled deeply as she mentally prepared herself for the truth. However, just as she was about to speak up, a voice shouted to her.
"Kagome!"
Turning around and silently thanking the intruder for perfect timing, Kagome inwardly groaned at the site of one Hermione Granger.
"Mud - I mean, Granger," Kagome started, "what brings you here, exactly?" She asked as her brother silently watched on in growing curiosity.
Hermione noticed the eldest Taisho standing behind her somewhat fellow first year before turning her attention back on Kagome. She gestured down to her hand and as Kagone followed her gaze, she barely managed to keep the shock off her face.
Hermione looked at Kagome and gave a small smile. "I found it when -" She paused upon seeing Kagome's slightly panicked expression before continuing on, "when I was walking past this hallway. I was going to bring it to the lost and found but I saw the name on it so I volunteered myself to deliver it safely to you." Hermione finished with a smile that was much less hesitant than her last one.
Kagome looked to her brother to see he had uncrossed his arms then turned back to the Griffindor in front of her. Stepping closer, Kagome extended her hand and waited for Hermione to hand the pack back.
Feeling the familiar weight back in her hand once more, Kagome gave her thanks before her brother spoke up.
"You are lucky this Griffindor was the one to find your bag. Do not let it happen again, little sister." Sesshomaru then turned away and walked off.
Kagome waited until he was at least out of earshot before even bothering with the girl. Turning her cold eyes on Hermione, she sighed inwardly. "Thank you, Hermione."
Hermione Granger expected a lot of things but to hear her actual name fall past the lips of one of the cruelest Slytherins she's ever met was not one of them. She smiled brightly at her then and thought, 'I was wrong. There's still a small amount of good in her. I just know it.' "You're so very welcome, Kagome."
"Hmm, make sure you don't get used to this, Granger," Kagome said to her before placing her bag onto her shoulder.
"I wouldn't dream of it, Taisho." Hermione smiled at her back before running off to meet with Ron and Harry.
And there ya go! Hope you guys enjoyed the long awaited chapter... though I have a feeling that it won't be as enjoyable. I promise that the next chapter will be more productive and interesting and funny and yeah... Hehe.
