A/N: Hello! I read KKV on Wednesday, and it inspired me! This one-shot takes place during it, so if haven't read Shell Game, don't read this! I don't want to spoil anything for you. This story takes place towards the end, but not the very end, because... well... yeah...

Also, I'm sick and the cold medication is doing funny things to my brain. So if this is rambly and makes no sense, thats why.

Willa bit her lip, staring at the redheaded boy in front of her. Once again, he was going on and on about the technical aspects of 2.0 and how to use it for the Keepers plans. She tuned out, not focusing on the words themselves but the boy speaking them.

Usually, Willa loved to hear him speak. He always looked so adorable when he got excited. The way his eyes would widen, the slight smile that formed on his face. Not that many people her age knew about technology as much as Philby, and none of them loved it as much. She loved to see him happy.

But was he happy? He certainly didn't act like it. Not anymore. The twinkle in his eye was gone. He got frustrated, moody, arrogant. He complained about how no one understood 2.0 like he did. Talking now, he wasn't smiling, but frowning. Willa could almost hear his thoughts. Why can't they understand it like I do? Whatever delight he got from the Keepers was gone.

Willa wasn't an idiot. She knew he had changed. She didn't know why it happened or when it started, but it was there. The others knew, too. She saw the way Finn resented Philby explanations, the way Maybeck tried to avoid talking to him. Charlene seemed oblivious, though. If only I could be, too, Willa thought. She wished she could ignore this change, act like it never happened. But she couldn't. The Keepers were falling apart.

Was it all because of Philby? Or was it something more? Were they just growing up? Was it the stress of the Overtakers, or perhaps the growing threat of being replaced? Philby certainly wasn't helping, that was for sure.

She wouldn't lie to herself—Philby words hurt her. She hated how he treated her as if she was below him. Like she was an idiot. Sure, she didn't understand 2.0, but none of them did! And if Philby's knowledge made him a colossal jerk, then Willa didn't think she wanted to.

She saw Storey say something to Philby, and smile. He smiled back. She was the only girl he would smile at lately.

Gah! How Willa hated her. Okay, maybe not hate. That was too extreme. But Willa certainly didn't trust her. And why should she? True, Storey had given them some information, but she refused to say where this information came from. What if she was an OTK? What if she was only helping them to gain their trust, then stab them in the back? She didn't like the way Storey was looking at Philby, or Finn for that matter. What kind of twenty year old hits on high school kids?

"Willa?"

Willa looked up. Philby was staring at her intently. "You okay?" He asked her. Like you care, Willa thought bitterly.

"Fine," she mumbled, turning away.

"Oh, okay," he said tonelessly. He sounded almost… indifferent. Uncaring. So unlike the Philby she knew and loved.

Loved?

Yes, she loved him. She had been denying it for a while, especially after Maybeck admitted his feelings to her. She hadn't wanted to admit it, afraid that she would be rejected. Sure, the others told her that Philby liked her, but was that still true? He certainly didn't act like. There was a moment, in the plane, where she thought he still did, but that vanished. Philby had changed.

No, he was gone. The person in front of her—that wasn't Philby. It was something foreign, someone she didn't know and didn't like.

It wasn't him.
