Sarah walked the darkened hallway in silence, loving her new house, but feeling a bit lonely just the same. She couldn't sleep during a storm, too many memories would shake her into thinking about him. Making her way into her small kitchen, she flipped on the light and made some cocoa. Coffee was for adults, she rationalized. And she definitely was not feeling very grown up today. Over the past six years, she'd obviously matured, in some small part by her continuing friendships with her Labyrinth friends. But - and this was a big 'but', she never had felt the loss of wonder she felt when she thought about her trip to save Toby.

"Sarah, you have to get a grip," she told herself, mixing her cocoa. "He doesn't miss you at all, he's off tormenting some other girl right now, and you are fine with that." Even spoken out loud, the words had no conviction and she sighed angrily. The clouds swarmed over the blackened sky, crowding out the starry night. "He hasn't bothered to send a message - I mean not even some sort of creepy threat, or promise. Or - anything. And still you stand here in your newly remodeled kitchen wondering about a self centered narcissist who hasn't even taken the time to invade your dreams."

"Maybe you aren't wishing hard enough," a voice startled her and she looked at the huge antique mirror on her kitchen wall. Hoggle stood there, hat in hand, smiling. She smiled back at him and toasted him with her cocoa.

"Hoggle, good to see you," she smiled, taking a small sip. "But I gave up wishing for the impossible years ago."

"Pshaw, you are the queen of wishes, Sarah. Champion, and all that. But you wish for the happiness of everyone around you. Why not wish some for yourself?"

"I am happy. I have you and Ludo and Sir Didymus. I have a good relationship with my dad and stepmother now and Toby is growing so big," she paused, blinking back tears that came from nowhere and were making it hard to focus on the reflection staring back at her.

"You need to find your own happiness, Sarah. No one can give that gift to ya - you have to decide to find it and claim it. Get some rest and I'll talk to you soon." He looked out through the glass to see rain finally pelting the windows with a soothing rhythm. "When you figure out what you need, you'll find a way to get back." The old dwarf faded out of her sight and Sarah finished her cocoa.

Putting the cup into the sink, she paused, seeing a book lying there that had not been there before. Astral projection and olde magick, she read cautiously. Had Hoggle left this for her? Queen of wishes, she smirked. Always with the pretty nicknames now, Hoggle was - trying to make her smile. She picked up the book and settled into a cosy nook in her kitchen, opening its pages and beginning to read.

And somewhere, down in the Under Ground, a Goblin King smiled.
