Epilogue
The next couple of weeks were a blur for Harley. After that night with the Joker, she had completely shed her identity as 'Harleen Quinzel' and was now Harley Quinn; The Clown Princess of Crime. After getting some henchmen to fetch a few personal belongings from her apartment, including her cat, she moved in with the Joker immediately.
Her skin was deathly pale, her hair a glowing white, her eye's bluer than ever and she had now lost any grip she had left on reality. Whilst she could still remember her previous life and everything leading up to the night at the Chemical Plant, she couldn't care less. Harley Quinn was completely unpredictable, crazy, angry and ready to do anything to please her 'Mister J'.
When Harleen hadn't turned up for work two days in a row, Dr. Leland went to her apartment to see if she was okay as she wasn't answering any texts or calls from anyone at Arkham. Upon her arrival, the apartment looked ransacked with no evidence as to her whereabouts. The police were called, who upon inspection of the CCTV cameras saw the Joker and several henchman arrive at the building and enter, several days prior. Ten minutes later they were pictured leaving with an unconscious in the Joker's arms, however after several blocks they could no longer track the car as the CCTV 'mysteriously' cut out. This now posed several serious questions for the police, especially for Commissioner Gordon; did the Joker have contacts everywhere? How were they able to get the code to enter the building? More importantly, where was Harleen Quinzel now and was she even still alive?
With all their efforts, including Batman's intense involvement in finding the young woman, there was no trace as to the Joker's or Harley's whereabouts or any of his previous connections. To Batman's intense frustration, this was the quietest Joker had been in a very long time, resulting in a much greater cause of panic amongst the police and even Batman himself. Joker enjoyed showing off, whether it be an elaborate scheme to annoy Batman or more simply, the murder of his psychologist. By this point, logic would dictate that she would either be found dead or Batman would have found her, it wasn't until a week later when Batman found Harley's journals stashed in her previous home behind a wall panel, did he discover the true nature of Harley's and Joker's relationship.
Bruce Wayne sat in the Batcave, still donned in his costume at 3am pouring over her journals to try and establish what happened to her over the last year. He had already sent off copies of her journal to Commissioner Gordon who agreed with him that at this point, anything could have happened to Harley. Bruce, frustrated and angry that this happened right under the nose of the Warden, concluded she was likely dead, Joker liked to play with his food but ate it in the end.
It shocked him even more when other rogue inmates testified, after some physical persuasion, to the obsession Harley ended up having over the Joker. Batman found the Riddler to be the most bitter and upset over her kidnapping, something he would have to investigate futher. As well as the possible connection of her strange relationship with the Joker to the originally believed 'unprovoked' Scarecrow attack on her just before the Joker took her and Scarecrow nearly being beaten to death afterwards. Bruce knew there had to be a connection, a reason why all these things had happened to Harley.
Another week went by before she made herself present to the whole of Gotham as the Joker's Queen.
Right guys, thank you so much for supporting this story. After writing this for 5 years now, with me being a bad updater and overall author, it is time for me to draw this story to a close. I have re-written this story at least 6 times from start to finish! It has been an honour to have the support from all the people reading and reviewing. This isn't the end however for Harley and her adventures, I am planning on writing a couple of mini-series to follow on from here. As I am about to graduate University (I started writing this story in my final year of high school!) I will hopefully have a lot more free time to dedicate to my writing. I also have a V for Vendetta fic if you fancy checking it out, and will be posting a few other stories that I have had stuck in my head for years. So much love once again and I really hope you have enjoyed it! Looking past any spelling mistakes, awful speech lines and continuity errors, I hope you can forgive me for hahaha.
