Back When
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in First Year, she would have stared at you.
Then she would blink and ask her friends who James Potter even was, and would have laughed when they told her.
They would have answered that he was a that First Year boy who was always up to something with his little gang of friends, the one who had gotten her, her first detention when she had tried to keep him out of trouble.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Second Year, she would have rolled her eyes.
He was smart, but he never studied as much as she did. As far as she was concerned, he wasn't going to do anything good with his life, and he was up to no good.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Third Year, she would have snorted, laughed and claim he was just a boy who she knew nothing about.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Fourth Year, she would have said that he barely knew her, that he liked some other girls maybe, but not her.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Fifth Year, she would have snorted, rolled her eyes and said that would only happen when Merlin knows what. She would rather ignore him and have him leave her life. He was simply a jerk to her best friend.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Sixth Year, she would have denied it, and hidden the smile that crossed her face at the thoughts.
For she was falling for him then, but didn't realize it quite yet.
If you had told Lily Evans she was going to marry James Potter in Seventh Year, she would have just smiled and said it was always meant to be.
