Harry Potter was sat with his friends at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall, eating his breakfast, stopping every now and again to answer a question or give his input. It was only when he heard the mail owls coming that he realised the mistake he made.

It was Hermione who first noticed the terrified look on Harry's face and was quite worried. "Harry, what's wrong, why are you so scared? Please Harry, you're scaring me!" It was when Hermione said this that everyone looked at Harry, and saw the look of pure terror. "I'm dead." was all that Harry would say. Every time he was asked he would say the same thing. It was Ron that finally noticed the state the state of Harry's plate, and burst into laughter.

Hermione was scandalized that Ron could be so insensitive to Harry's plight, until he pointed to Harry's spotless plate, at which point Hermione started laughing, and everyone else around Harry soon followed suit. It was at this point that Hedwig arrived at the table, waiting for some bacon. "I'm sorry Hedwig, I forgot to leave you some." Hedwig just glared. "Please Hedwig, I'm so sorry, I won't do it agaAAAHHH!" Hedwig had finally had enough and decided to teach Harry a lesson, but at that point everyone in the Great Hall looked over after hearing Harry shout, to see a furious snowy owl attack her master, swooping to cuff him with her wings, pecking his ears, and scratching him with her talons.

Everyone in the Hall was rolling in laughter at the display, even Snape was chuckling softly, as Harry continued to try and pacify his owl, to no avail. It was after fifteen minutes of this that Harry finally managed to calm Hedwig down by offering anything she wanted the next morning. Only then did Hedwig stop attacking Harry, though she still glared at him. Across the room at the Slytherin table a girl with black hair and blue eyes thought about how her boyfriend interacted with his owl, only being brought out of her thoughts by her best friend. "He really has an amazing and unusual bond with his owl, doesn't he, Daphne?" asked Tracy Davis, to which Daphne replied, "yes it is amazing, but considering it is Harry Potter, it isn't really all that unusual.

The next day came pretty much the same as the last, though everyone in the hall noticed that Harry didn't dare eat until his owl had been and had her share, causing everyone to laugh at him again. Though at least Hedwig decided to forgive him, and allowed Harry to pet her.
