"But you can't pick an elven magician! It's so overused!" Ryou drummed his fingers on the table, his eyes nervously scanning over the Monster World rulebook.
"But, you said I could play anything I want," Anzu replied, "And I want to play an elf magician."
"There are so many more interesting things you could be though. A character with some deep conflicting aspects... Like a fairy warrior! Or a dwarven magician!"
"But none of those appeal to me. You said I could be anything out of the rulebook, and I chose the Elf Magician. That's my final choice." Anzu crossed her arms in defiance. She wouldn't be budged from her decision.
A long and awkward pause descended on the games room. Ryou glanced from the girl in front of him to the rulebook, then to his Monster World gaming table, and finally back to Anzu again. A few times he opened his mouth to speak, and then thought better of it. Finally he cleared his throat, nervously licking his lips.
"What about an Elf Magic-gunman?"
"Ok, you know what Bakura?" Anzu stood up, taking the young man by the ear and dragging him off his stool, ignoring his quiet protests. "When you told me you wanted to try out roleplaying, this isn't even close to what I had in mind. Now, you're going to come with me, and I'm going to show you roleplaying."
"Shouldn't I bring the rulebook?" Ryou protested, reaching for the thin, unassuming looking tome.
"Not just yet…" Anzu grinned. "Maybe later…"
