"But..why?" I could hear myself say. My voice was a distant echo- it was like it wasn't even a part of me.
"I..I..love you."
"Then why?" I can feel the anger boiling up inside of me.
"I don't think that you would want to know."
"Are you sick? If you are then we work through this together, Fabian. You're not alo-" I started to say while reaching for his arm.
"No- that, that's not it." He said cutting me off with a hint of harshness in his voice.
"Well what is it then? Why go back to England? I can't leave here with Gran being sick and all."
"I know..It's about…Joy."
"Joy? Are you cheating on me?" I said my voice boiling over with anger.
"No- well not exactly. We just-"
"Just what?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him.
"It was just one night Nina, I'm sorry! It was late and we-"
"Just tell me!" I practically yelled starting to feel dizzy.
"Joy, she's…pregnant."
"No…" The whisper escaped my lips as I felt around behind me for the armchair.
I cupped my face in my hands but no tears escaped. I almost didn't want to tell him to stop rubbing his hand in small circular motions on my back because strangely it made me feel that much better.
I didn't pull away when he lightly kissed the top of my head after he finished packing because I knew that would more than likely be our last kiss.
"Nina, I love you…always."
I love you too.
