A/N so you know how in some books there is like a little page in the front of the book that has an excerpt of what happens later in the book? It usually is on the very first page of the book, like before the tittle page and stuff. Just think of this like that. R&R please!

Sneak peak

"How dare you speak to Alice that way?" Jack growled as he punched Hatter hard in the face, causing him to stumble back into a tree.

He let out a little grunt as he hit his head on the trunk. He stood up straight and wiped blood from the corner of his mouth.

"Jack!" Alice gasped. "What are you doing? Hatter didn't mean that! He's been through Hell!" She started to go to Hatter.

"That's still no excuse for him to treat you like that!" Jack snapped. He glared at Hatter.

"I wouldn't argue with her if I were you!" Hatter heard himself say in a nasty tone. "She's the Alice of Legend!" His voice was sarcastic. No stop! Why am I saying these things? He thought to himself as he struggled to gain control of his tongue. Something was causing him to say the mean things, but he didn't know what.

Alice gasped and stared at Hatter, hurt and betrayal in her eyes. "Hatter what's gotten into you?" She asked him. He could tell she was on the verge of tears.

Jack growled and punched Hatter again, this time in the gut. Hatter doubled over and groaned. "Say one more thing and I will hurt you," Jack hissed in the other man's ear. "I don't care if you were tortured by Mad March himself! You have no right to talk to Alice like that!" He straightened and walked back over to her. "Let's keep going." He told her, not looking back at Hatter as he lead the way.

Hatter gritted his teeth and stood upright. He picked his hat up from the ground and placed it back on his head. He started to follow. Inside his head he was struggling for control of himself. He need to tell Alice he was sorry and didn't mean any of the things coming out of his mouth. Suddenly a fierce pain ripped through him, causing him to cry out in pain and collapse on his hands and knees.

"Hatter!" Alice ran back to his side and knelt beside him. "What's wrong?"

"Alice," Hatter found his voice, it was laced with pain and agony. "That wasn't me talking, I'm sorr-Aaaugh!" The pain was almost unbearable. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. He barely felt Alice's hand on his back as he started coughing.

"Hatter," Jack was leaning down next to him. "Did you have something?" He asked. "Did they give you a drink?"

"I-I Don't know," Hatter managed between coughs. He then collapsed completely and passed out.
