Launch 010: Revelations

The long journey to the Labs had been tough but they had made it. Shinji got out of the Humvee and looked at the old building in the middle of nowhere nearly buried under the sands of the desert. He held Keita's hand, wary of how quiet it was. Kensuke got out of the backseat and stared in awe like a child with a new toy at the labs.

"So this is it!?"

Kaji got out and looked at the building that looked like a cabin, "Not exactly, the lab is underneath, this is just a camouflage."

Kaworu got out and looked at the cabin before looking over to Shinji who caught his eyes before looking away quickly, a blush spreading across his cheeks.

The five approached the building, Kaji's handgun ready. He opened the door using the card key panel that, to Shinji's amazement, still worked. The light went green and the door clicked open. They all walked in and looked around at the barren one room space. Kaji walked to the center of the space and motioned for them to stand around him. They did so and watched as he took out a remote device and pressed a button the floor moved under them, making them give a start before they found themselves lowered into the ground, their surrounding changing into metal walls.

Minutes later they reached a laboratory setting where many machines and computers turned on.

Welcome Dr. Ikari

Shinji paused at the sound of the voice that came from the walls.

"Don't worry, it's only the computer, everything is automated here" said Kaji as he walked into the lab and over to one of the computers and began to search through the discs.

Kensuke was already squealing over everything in sight, stating every bit of information he knew about every machine there.

Kaworu remained standing where he was, waiting. Shinji walked around, letting Keita's hand go since the room was so small he would not get lost.

Keita walked around with his teddy looking at all the paper drawings of ANGELs and ArcANGELs, stating how scary they all looked.

"My Uncle said we had to come here, but what is here to come and find?" asked Shinji as he picked up a dusty picture frame.

Wiping his hand over the surface he stared sadly at a picture of him as a child with his mother and father, all smiling and waving at the camera.

"Because he knew that it was here where your father hid the secrets to how to stop the 3rd Impact" said Kaji as he moved to another pile of discs.

Kaji pushed more things aside in his search until he found something he paused at and grinned.

"FOUND IT!"

Everyone looked at him at his great exclamation.

Kaji picked up a small disc and took it out of its case. Sitting at a computer he inserted it into the CD drive and started it up. Above a projector came to life.

Kaji turned to Shinji, "Shinji tell it your name."

Shinji frowned, "Huh?"

"Dr. Ikari had you and your mother linked in here. Just say you full name."

Shinji nodded and looked up at the ceiling, "Shinji Ikari."

There was a pause of whirling machines.

Confirmed. Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 001

The Projector turned on and a holographic image of Shinji's father appeared.

"Dad" whispered Shinji in wanton desire.

He had not seen his dad in so long he had forgotten what the man looked like.

"My name…Is Gendo Ikari. I am the Head Researcher of NERv under the command of SEELE. We have, for many years, researched the phenomenon that is Adam and Eve and the creatures known as ANGELs, Adam's children. In the year 1997 the First Impact occurred, the result of the creator, Adam, awakening from his long slumber. We discovered this fascinating creature preserved in the ice caps of Antarctica. The result of this awakening was many lives…I nearly lost my wife and my unborn son, but a miracle happened, and both lived.

As the projection of Gendo Ikari spoke other holographic screens appeared, showing video footage of the First Impact as well as pictures of the aftermath. Next came by the footage of Shinji's miracle birth and his mother's recovery footage and pictures of the time they found Adam.

"Immediately after we began our experiments on the Creator, desiring the secrets he held as well as a cure to the Geo Stigma of which my wife and son were suffering from."

Images of the experiments appeared as well as images of Yui and Shinji with Geo-stigma coating their skin. To Shinji his mother looked so exhausted despite her attempt to smile at the camera. Her body looked like it was being eaten away by stage four cancer, and he looked no better.

"After years of watching my family suffer we at last found the secrets to a cure to Geo Stigma. It lies in the blood of Adam, the Creator's cells. Testing it on living tissue dying from the stigma we were amazed at the remarkable healing process, the skin cells were completely free of the stigma. However, this was only after hundreds of attempts of testing on animals and small skin cells taken from my wife and other participants."

Once again more footage played as the Doctor spoke, along with pictures.

"At last, Yui and Shinji will be free."

The hologram vanished.

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 002

The hologram reappeared to show a Gendo Ikari that looked healthier than the one before.

"The test for the LCL are about to take place. At last Yui and Shinji may have a chance at a normal life. I pray that it works"

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 003

This hologram looked haggard and disoriented. To Shinji it also looked like his father had been sobbing.

"May God or…whoever above forgive me…Yui…by child…oh Christ I shot my child…Shinji…"

Shinji gasped in shock, eyes wide, 'What?'

The hologram sniffed loudly, cursing under its breath and again, crying.

"Oh Yui…I shot our BABY BOY! SHINJI!"

It ended there, the hollering, gut wrenching, screams of utter desolation shook everyone to the core. Keita was outwardly crying now.

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 004

This hologram was better than the last, but more tired and looked to not have shaved in quite a while.

"I've found a way…Shinji is not dead, I know that now. Shinji, I am coming for you son, just wait patiently for me. SEELE is trying to put a stop to my actions but I won't let them. They'll have to kill me first. I have allies in some old friends and my lab assistant Kaji, a young inspiring, yet rumbustious mind. And my dearest, best friend Kozo. I cannot express my thanks as I would like, but I feel that I will at last find…the chamber of Guf"

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 004

"Damned SEELE! They're fools! They listen to HER blindly without knowing what they have done! They have begun the EVA project and have started testing on children! CHIRLDREN! But that's not all…they have taken actual people, INNOCENT PEOPLE and begun experiments!"

All around the hologram screens appeared of video footage. One showed a horrifying sight of people in lab coats wrestling down crazed individuals as their skin turned black. Another showed a group of Apostles being gunned down before their bodies were discarded like trash. One screen was split into four separate screens of children being poked and probed, forced into training and tests that would drive someone so young insane. Some footage was even of people being kidnapped by black armored soldiers armed to the teeth.

"Shinji-nii" whimpered Keita as he held onto the teen's leg, clutching his teddy to him.

Shinji stared at the screen with the children and saw that one of them looked like a younger Kaworu, another was the glasses wearing girl that had attacked them, and another…was a red haired girl that looked far beyond help than the other two.

"Kaworu?" asked Shinji looking at the silver haired boy.

Kaworu's attention was also on the screen as he walked up to Shinji.

"After I appeared from the Chamber, I was apprehended by NERv and taken to their HQ. For years I was put through hazardous tests and training…so much so that it almost killed me. It was your father and Dr. Fuyutsuki who saved me."

"And brought him here" said Kaji.

Shinji looked at him before looking back at the screens that were now vanishing along with the hologram.

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 005

"I have done it"

This time a video appeared and Shinji stared in awe and shock at the sight of himself, a younger version, naked and lying on a metal table with a sheet over him. It looked like there was nothing wrong with him, like he was sleeping. But that thought was dashed when Shinji noticed his hair was coated in blood that was currently dripping out of a hole clean through his head.

The sight made Shinji sick, slapping a hand over his mouth to keep from gagging up vomit.

"I found a way to open the Chamber, he's here…after years Shinji's returned. Remarkably, even with the bullet hole that cleanly went through his head and through his brain through the other side…he is alive! And look at this."

The camera moved to get a close up of Shinji's head wound. It was…IT WAS HEALING!?

"The healing properties are amazing!"

The camera then moved to the heart monitor hooked up to Shinji, beeping and definitely showing Shinji was alive by the constant beep and stable vital signs.

"It seems that while in the chamber, Shinji was kept alive somehow and even now he is healing and alive as if the gunshot had never happened. It is a miracle."

Commencing Projection Diary. Entry 006

"My God…I have discovered SEELE's plan…no, not SEELE's…HER's. HER plan…is to bring about the Third Impact, the third apocalypse. FOOLS! IDIOTS! IMBECILES! They are swayed by her powers and have no clue what they have done! They are coming after Shinji and Kaworu. They need both in order to…in order to bring about…HIM…Adam. I have to protect my son…Kozo will take him into his care. I have asked Kaworu to protect him…I hope I do not regret such a decision.

I will find a way to stop HER, Lilith. She must be stopped. For I fear that the Impact…will be the one…to destroy the world."

End of Projection Diary Disc

"After that."

Shinji turned to Kaji.

"Your father just up and disappeared. No one knows where he is. Not even SEELE or NERv."

"But…why does Lilith even want this…The Third Impact? Where did she and Adam, and ANGELs come from?" asked Shinji.

Kaji sighed and sat down in a chair, settling down, "Okay. So, you have read the Bible, heard the stories, right? Of how God created the world, or however you want to see it depending on what you believe, or your religion, yes?"

Shinji nodded.

"But in this case, that's not exactly true. None of it really, it give you clues, but none of it is the actual truth."

Shinji frowned in confusion, "then what is?"

"The truth…is that we were not even born here, on earth. Our "Beginning" if you'd like to call it that, started with The First Ancestral Race. They were beings far more advanced then ourselves. They lived in the Milky Way Galaxy on a world on would escribe as Paradise. However…like us Earthlings, they did what we have down for centuries…they killed their planet, killed themselves.

Knowing their end was at hand the select few set out to create a new world."

"Earth" said Shinji.

Kaji nodded, "That's right, Earth. And when it was done, they passed through the Chamber of Guf to await their rebirth. The Camber is…like a womb for unborn souls. Everyone knows about it on some level, they just don't remember. And when we die it is where our soul return to be reborn one again into a new life."

"So what about Adam and Lilith?" asked Kensuke.

"Adam is the Father and Lilith is the Mother. However, while Adam cherishes life, Lilith despises it. She sees us a wretched cockroaches that need to be exterminated. It was her and Adam's impact with Earth years ago that began the official First Impact. You should know that story well."

"Noah's Ark" said Shinji

Kaji grinned, "Bingo."

"But, how do you know all of this?" asked Shinji.

Kaji's grin widened before he turned the chair around to face the computer and typed in something. The projector turned on and a screen popped up showing some weird writings. Kaji stood and walked over to them to stand in front of the screen.

Kensuke walked as well looking at them in awe as he adjusted his glasses.

"These are the Dead Sea Scrolls. An actual written testament of the First Ancestral Race."

"Wow! Amazing!" said Kensuke in excitement and curiosity.

Shinji looked at Kaji before looking back at the screen.

"Where-?"

"They were found with Adam's vessel body, found in Antarctica when his vessel The White Moon was discovered."

"Vessel Body?"

"Contrary to what you think Shinji" said Kaworu, drawing everyone's attention, "the appearance you have seen the ANGELs and ArchANGELS take…is not their true appearance."

"Then…what is?"

"Shinji…they're human."

Shinji was sitting outside, wracking his brain over all of the information he had learned. Keita was inside with Kaji, asleep in one of the rooms fashioned into a bedroom. Kaji was going over information files. Kensuke was having a happy moment learning all he could about ANGELs and such. He was on cloud ine when Kaji let him look at the images of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

He heard the door of the cabin open and seconds later Kaworu was sitting next to him. Shinji was still not too sure about the boy but he could not deny his need for the other teen either. Was that just a side effect of him and Kaworu being Adam?

"Shinji, there is something I need to tell you" said Kaworu.

Shinji looked over at him before turning back to look at the dirt patch he had ben staring at for the last fifteen minutes.

"Shinji…I did not mean to hurt you…and I am sorry, I truly am."

"…You used me Kaworu. I did not even know what I was doing!"

"…I know…."

"How could you" said Shinji.

"I am sorry."

In that split second Shinji turned to Kaworu and slapped him hard, a red mark of pain smeared onto the teen's pale white skin. Kaworu did not show any reaction to the harsh slap, simply looked back the boy.

"I won't forgive you, not for this…you used me Kaworu. And…for some ungodly reason I can't HATE YOU!"

Shinji turned away looked out over the desert."

"I am-."

Shinji reached out a hand and took Kaworu's that were resting on his lap, "I don't hate you, but I won't forgive you."

Kaworu looked down at their joined hands before smiling, squeezing the other's hands. They sat in silence like that for a while, taking in each other's presence.

"Kaworu, when you said that Adam and Lilith, and the ANGELs were human…what did you mean?"

The red eyed teen looked at him a moment before speaking.

"That they are human."

Shinji gave a huff before turning to him, "What is that supposed to mean?"

Kaworu stared at him before turning himself to fully face the boy, "What it means Shinji, is that the First Ancestral Race…were humans, Aliens if you want to call them that. Only, they were far more advanced, and far more…godlike. There were of course regular humans in our world as well. Adam and Lilith came from the alien race. They were chosen to create Earth, along with the ArchANGELs.

The Dead Sea Scrolls don't talk about everything. Adam may have written them, but he did not write everything."

Shinji frowned, "How do you know this?"

Kaworu grinned, "You should know it as well Shinji. We are both Adam after all."

Shinji shook his head, "No, I don't. I have no idea what you are talking about."

"That's because you don't remember."

Kaworu then leaned in, making Shinji jump slightly and lean back, only for Kaworu to grab the back on his neck.

"Trust me."

Shinji stared at the other a moment before nodding slightly, letting himself be drawn in by the other.

Slowly, their lips touched, Shinji sighing into the kiss. He relaxed against Kaworu, letting his desire drive him, take over. He moans when Kaworu's tongue slipped into his mouth. How could it be he wanted this so much? Suddenly, a spark shot through his entire body, eyes snapping open and shimmering crimson, pupils slit.

Flashes like a fast forwarded movie race through his mind.

A woman with long bluish white hair and crimson eyes smiling at him.

A man with silver hair and a brown and red eye surrounded by flowers as he gazed lovingly at the Earth through the window of a spaceship.

Life.

Blood.

Miracles.

Death.

Hope.

Screams.

Destruction.

…Betrayal.

Shinji screamed, pushing Kaworu away and snapping his hands up to cover his eyes. Kaworu looked down at him sadly.

"Adam, was once in love with Lilith. He was the leader of a select few of scientists of crew who were tasked by the Holy Council to make a new world for the people of the First Race. Lilith was his wife and Second in Command. Adam loved Earth and the life there. He…We, watched it grow, a brand new universe. And then we brought life to it. It was beautiful. But…Lilith began to change…she…she began to see herself as God, that she and the First Race were better than those they had come to create. She believed that they should look to them as Gods. Not help them, live among them like ants.

We did not like this, we tried to make her see reason, but Lilith was adamant. Then, more bad news came…our people…had died out…our world was gone. We were all devastated. Then began the fight for power on the ship, our madness led us to betray one another, hide behind each other's backs. We took sides.

We began to destroy ourselves. Adam tried to stop it, he tried to make them all see reason. But…Lilith poisoned their minds…made them…different. Changed them. So, Adam chose the only thing he could do…throw them all into the Chamber of Guf. Purify them. But Lilith did not like this. She…she killed us, Shinji. Our own wife, the only we had come to love…betrayed us. After that it was too late. We fell from the ship in the White Moon. Lilith followed in the Black Moon. And the others…they were gone."

Shinji sobbed as he began to recall the memories. Adam…he had not been a pure First Race…but a half breed. A scholar and lover of peace, wanting to save his people. How he had fallen in love with a woman who would eventually betray and kill him. His friends. The ANGELs they had all been his friends. People he had grown up with…laughed with, and Lilith had corrupted them all.

"The bodies you see the ANGELs use are just…our people who lost their way and were unable to pass through the Gates into the chamber. Adam and Lilith are the only ones who were able to discard their human bodies and transcend into Vessel bodies."

Shinji looked up at him, "You said…you said Lilith was human now."

Kaworu nodded, "The Spear of Longinus. Before we fell, Adam used the Spear in order to impale Lilith, sealing her transcended body. However, she escaped and managed to escape."

"Tabris…that was our name, our human mother gave it to us" whispered Shinji, still reliving memories.

"That's right."

Shinji gave a shuddering breath, trying to calm himself.

"And our attraction to each other…."

"As the Soul and Body of Adam of course we feel drawn to one another."

"And…you were in the Chamber…our Vessel body…that's what they found…in the ice…."

"Unlike Lilith, we did not outwardly kill off our meager human form, we sent it to the Chamber, which is me. At first I was a soulless doll until I came here after the Second Impact."

Shinji shook his head to try and organize everything in his head. It was so much that he was starting to get a headache and feel really dizzy.

Kaworu stood and held out a hand, "We should go to bed. All the answers will come to you."

Shinji looked at the hand offered before looking up at his other half, taking it. Kaworu helped him stand and the two walked back inside.

Miles away a danger was approaching the group. A man smirking as he and his band of bloodthirsty men stormed the desert, excited at the thought of gutting a certain brunette like a pig.

"I'm coming for you Kaji."
