I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away
I want you back
I want you back My neighbours think I'm crazy
But they don't understand
You're all I have
You're all I have
Annie sat at the attic window, next to Eve's cot. It had been a really hard year. She looked at the infant sleeping peacefully. She was so oblivious to her importance. What would Annie do when Eve was old enough to go to school, and all the other children's mummies and daddies came to pick them up? That was if she ever got to go to school. The vampires... No. Eve would get to go to school. She would have an education, then a job, then grow old. Thats what her parents would have wanted.
At night when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the Moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side
Talking to me too
Or am I a fool, who sits alone
Talking to the moon
Annie gazed outwards at the shining orb that hung in the sky. The moon. It reminded her of everyone she'd lost, and everything she might lose in the future. As Annie stared into the silvery glow, all the memories started to come flooding back.
I'm feeling like I'm famous
The talk of the town
They say I've gone mad
Yeah I've gone mad
But they don't know what I know
Nina. Strong, feisty, beautiful Nina. Murdered by vampires in broad daylight, not two weeks since her daughter had been born. She would never get to see Eve grow into the wonderful woman she is going to be. Strong and caring like her mother, smart and loyal like her father.
Cause when the sun goes down
Someone's talking back
Yeah they're talking back
George. Bumbling, awkward, lovely George. He hadn't been the same since Nina died. Hardly talking, hardly eating, refusing to leave Eve's side. Annie remembered the days when it was just the three of them in Bristol. Before everything went wrong. She could almost hear his high-pitched squeal of indignance.
At night when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the Moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side
Talking to me too
Or am I a fool, who sits alone
Talking to the moon
And there was Mitchell. The person Annie had truly loved more than anyone else. She was probably the only person that he loved back. The only person who knew about all his problems, and his past, and still wanted to have a relationship. He would never hurt Annie. He died, to save the others. There was still a chance that Annie could see Nina and George again, if she ever chose to cross over for good. But vampires don't have ghosts. Mitchell could no longer be more than Annie's happiest memory. They could have done so much together. They should have been a match made in heaven, the two undead souls living in an old B&B in Barry.
Do you ever hear me calling?
Cause every night I'm talking to the moon
Still trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side
Talking to me too
Or am I a fool, who sits alone
Talking to the moon
Annie closed her eyes. It hurt. It hurt more than anything else on the planet. Their smiling faces, their voices... all things that she had lost for good. Eve began to cry. Annie just buried her head in her hands. The floorboard squeaked behind her. She turned her head to see Tom and Hal looking at her. Annie gave a weak smile at the sight of them, to which Tom grinned back. Her boys. As long as they were here, she'd be okay.
I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away...
