Five Minutes Away

Rex tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for Noah. He resisted the urge to check his phone for messages from the blond and scanned the park for his friend.

"This must be how he feels when I am late," he mused. Caving in the urge Rex checked his phone. Noah was ten minutes late. "I will give him another five, and then I will call him."

No sooner had Rex come up with the plan then his phone went off. The caller ID said "Noe"

Quickly Rex answered it. "Hey,"

"Hey, where the Hell are you?" Noah asked, sounding upset.

Rex blinked and frowned, feeling his own anger rising with his friend's tone.

"What you do mean? I'm at the park, like you said."

He heard Noah sigh into the phone; he was about to ask him where he was when Noah started laughing.

"What's so funny?" Rex demanded.

"Didn't you get my text?" Noah asked.

"What text?"

"That would be a 'no,'" Noah said and laughed again. "Sorry this is my fault. I had to stay behind after class to help out a friend; I sent you a text telling you to meet me in the school library at 4 instead of the park."

"Oh," Rex said lamely.

"Yeah," Noah breathed. "So are you on you're way?"

"You know it," Rex confirmed. "See you in five."

"See you in five," Noah repeated and hung up.

Feeling better now that he had something to do Rex closed his phone and stood up. He was about to pocket his phone when it chimed. He had received a text message. "You gotta be kidding me," Rex chuckled as he reopened the phone. There is small black type was Noah's text message.

"Cant make the park. meet school library. love noe"

Rex smiled and clicked a button to reply. "On the way. your rex."
