Sakura stormed out of the camper before either man could stop her. Not all that unexpected really, considering what she'd just discovered about her teammate. Just now finding out, after they've been partners for years and known each other for much longer. How could she not have known? Because seriously, kidnapping? By the same vicious, psychotic, bastard who simply invited him to dinner the night before.
She paused in the snow, halfway between Fugaku's trailer and her own. Her feet were buried in the snow, though she hardly felt the cold through her boots. Her warm, comfortably soft boots that were a Christmas gift two years ago from Itachi and Shisui. Sakura had always suspected it was Mikoto who'd picked them out –Shisui had no fashion sense, and Itachi wouldn't be caught dead in a women's apparel store- but it was the thought that counted.
Itachi and Shisui were her boys, though she'd never admit it out loud. (For fear of Mikoto somehow hearing her from halfway across the world). They were a team, both on the field and off; had been ever since she'd joined the force. They looked out for each other, had each other's back, and when push comes to shove they buckled down and worked together to fix things.
Sakura briefly considered going back to her own trailer. But Itachi would without a doubt still be there, fast asleep and curled up in her bed where the smell comforted him. Where it chased away the smell of rotten meat, she thought sourly, and he tried to forget the night before. No, she wouldn't be able to go back there quite yet. If she did, she'd see Itachi and want to curl up next to him and hug him close to her and that would be unacceptable. (For reasons she was not listing.)
Just then, she glanced at the big house just to her left. Orochimaru was a sick bastard, doing that to Itachi, both years ago and yesterday. Nevermind how he twisted Sasuke into becoming his apprentice, or set the now psychotic younger Uchiha upon the world. What he did to Itachi was inhumane, and sickening, and he gloated about it over Itachi's head! 'Cock fucking, psychotic monster,' Sakura swore, followed by a few more choice curses she's learned here and there.
He hurt one of her boys. Sakura fully turned her body towards the front porch. Orochimaru hurt Itachi. No one hurts her boys.
That's it. She's made up her mind. With a fierce glare that was better suited to her Chief, Sakura made her way to the front door. The same guard as yesterday was there, a little bit surprised to see her so soon after last night. He held a hand up to stop her when Sakura made it to the top of the stairs," I didn't know Orochimaru scheduled another meeting…" He furrowed his brows, looking a little confused.
Sakura put on her sweetest and most innocent face, and answered," Just coming to say hello and speak with him. I've got a proposal he'll want to hear."
The guard gave her a doubtful look, but then he pressed a hand to his hear, obviously trying to better hear whatever was being said in his earcomm. "Alright," he shrugged after a moment," Boss says it's okay." Motioning for her to spread her arms out, he ran a metal detector quickly over her, just in case she decided to bring a gun. Sakura wasn't stupid enough to. "He's in the courtyard." Sakura thanked him and let herself into the house, making sure to keep the smile on her face and try not to look too murderous.
Inside there was no one to greet her, but she had studied the blueprints of the house enough times to know where the courtyard was. As she walked through the house, she kept an eye out for anything she could use for a weapon, but there was very little. Maybe she could bash his head in with a candlestick? Or you know, a good old fashioned strangulation would be nice.
Opening a set of French doors led her to the courtyard, where there waited only two men: Orochimaru and Kabuto. Sakura mentally frowned upon seeing Kabuto; he'd most likely get in the way. "Ah, so good to see you again so soon, Sakura-san," Orochimaru, the bastard, smiled upon seeing her. He began walking towards her, Kabuto close on his heels, and Sakura took note of everything she saw.
Good, he wasn't wearing a coat despite the snow and cold in the courtyard; he obviously hadn't been planning on being outside for long. Kabuto was about five feet behind him, keeping his eyes on both her and his master. She was standing upon the wrap-around deck, and they would have to climb at least six stairs in order to reach her. Then her eyes glanced to the side and she saw it.
The perfect weapon.
"I hope Itachi-kun is alright," the smug asshole was speaking again, and Sakura was sickened to see an infuriating smirk on his face," He ran out of here so quick last night."
It took all of Sakura's will power not to outright snarl at him, so her expression came out as pursed lips and narrowed eyes," Perhaps it was your sick idea to serve him rotten meat."
Orochimaru took the first step up, and Sakura's glanced down to watch him take the second and third. "So terribly sorry about that," he mocked," I'll have to speak with the kitchen staff. I'm appalled they were so careless to let the food go bad."
He climbed the fourth stair and behind him, Kabuto took the first.
Before either man could realize what she was doing, Sakura's right arm shot out and grabbed hold of the large icicle hanging down from the eave beside her. It was substantial in size, about three centimeters in diameter where her hand wrapped around it. With a sickening CRACK! she broke off a foot-long portion. "Wha-" Orochimaru's foot paused on the fifth step.
Sakura knew she was quick. She always had been, and sparring with Naruto in the dojo had made her even more so. She was good with pistols, and had the quickest draw out of anyone in the force. This wasn't all that different, just a little different directions and different grip. She brought the icicle across her chest, her right elbow at a ninety degree angle, and the sharp end of the ice pointing at Orochimaru. At the same time, she pressed the palm of her left hand on the other end of the icicle.
Then aiming with her right hand, she threw her whole body at the bastard. With her left hand, she shoved the icicle into Orochimaru's chest.
The force of her attack ensured that the makeshift weapon went deep, hopefully piercing a lung. Orochimaru stumbled backwards into Kabuto, his face full of shock. "Don't," Sakura growled into his ear, pushing herself off of him and back onto the top of the stairs," fuck with me!" Then with a kick that would've made Shisui proud, she kicked his stomach and sent him and Kabuto sprawling backwards off the stairs.
Then she turned tail and ran before either of them could call the alarm.
….
"She did what?!"
Itachi stood flabbergasted inside the surveillance van, where the others had just finished telling him the story. He couldn't… couldn't believe it. Sakura, their Sakura, went right up to a dangerous megalomaniac and stabbed him with an icicle! He felt dizzy just trying to imagine it.
Kakashi nodded and silently closed the laptop they'd just used to show Itachi the footage of Sakura storming up through the front door, only to come running out of it only a few minutes later. To Itachi's left, Shisui sympathetically patted his partner's shoulder," I know… I was shocked too when she told us what she did."
Naruto just laughed," And you slept through it all!" Itachi barely heard him, who had by now seated himself heavily into the only open chair and hung his head between his hands," Oh Saku, you fucking idiot…" With a belly clutching laugh of his own, Naruto leaned back in his chair," Oh, I wish I could've seen her actually do it!" A glare by Chief Fugaku quickly shut him up.
"This is not a laughing matter, Officer Uzumaki," he berated the younger man," Sakura put herself in an extremely dangerous situation. What if she hadn't gotten out in time? She could've been taken hostage, or worse, they could've killed her on the spot." Itachi and Shisui were glad to see Naruto's face go ashen pale, just now realizing how dangerous Sakura's stunt had actually been.
They almost lost their teammate.
"She's safe now, locked away in her trailer," Kakashi spoke up now," If Orochimaru's snipers can't see her, then they can't exact any retribution of their own." Ah, so that explained why she was on house arrest. "Now let's take another look at the situation," he went on," What does this give us? What opening has Sakura given us?"
With a thoughtful expression, Shisui spoke out loud," It sounds like we've got either one of two results. Either Sakura killed Orochimaru, which would be a win for us-"
"Unlikely," Fugaku pointed out," She hit the right side of his chest, missing his heart completely."
Shisui continued," –or injured him greatly, could've pierced his lung even."
Itachi's head snapped up. "He's injured," he gasped, and all eyes turned to him. With a flourish, he stood back up, a wicked smile on his face. "He's injured," he repeated," He's going to need medical attention." All at once, all their eyes widened in realization. "And I doubt Kabuto has the tools needed to treat him for a stab wound that deep, much less reinflate a lung."
"Itachi, you fucking genius!" Shisui threw himself at him and smacked a big fat kiss on his cheek, thoroughly disgusting his cousin. Before Itachi could retaliate, he spun back around and even hugged Naruto in his joy. Though without the kiss, as Shisui never did really like Naruto's blonde stubble beard. ("My whiskers are majestic!" was Naruto's usual retort.)
Fugaku was already in motion, yelling commands into his radio while Kakashi and Naruto spun back around to work furiously at their computers. "Come on," Shisui pulled Itachi back out of the van," Let's go tell Sakura she's saved the day."

Author's Note: I'm thinking of making the next chapter fluffy. Should I make it fluffy?
