A/N: Happy early birthday to Train Heartnet and of course, Keiichi Maebara and Sharon Rainsworth! This is going out before Saturday! So of course, here's a new chapter and yes, Trucy is the pairing. Saya might die. I'm not sure yet. I am reviving a five year old dead story, after all. I have too many characters and, of course, Nana, Bando, and others will appear.
Thanks for all who have still supported this fic after nearly eight years. I always promised you guys I would return to this story and now here we come with the thirteenth chapter! Happy birthday to Train! Does anyone know when Lucy's birthday is?
P.s. I realized it was a plot hole for him to call her Lucy as he only knew her as Kaede. Lucy was not called that originally but by Kurama.
Cubital Tunnel is here, but I'm still writing. Probably pretty short chapter ahead.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAIN.

Chapter 13: The Unlucky Number
Creed Diskenth was frustrated, not to mention annoyed. How the hell had Train slipped out from under his nose all this time? He'd known he was still working with Chronos, but he had never expected to lose him like this. One second, he'd had the feline-esque man in his clutches and now, he was gone.
He wasn't sure where he had slipped off to, but much like a cat, he did what he wanted and not what Creed wanted.
Creed had long since severed ties with Chronos, of course, but neither was he involved with that institution, either. Instead, he was training his own special group to take on the Diclonius and get rid of them, and then win Train back over to his side.
He had a feeling that he knew just who Train was with. It wasn't that detective guy, was it?
Before this, he'd kept such a close watch on who Train was with and influenced him ever so subtly.
Now the cat was a stray feline.
But the kitty had better stay cautious, since the dog was coming for him.
Grinning wickedly, he brandished his new sword.
"I'm coming for you, Train!" He declared. "And if that stupid red-haired bitch gets in the way, I will cut her down."
No one interfered with him and his precious Black Cat.
Train was his and his alone.
He would learn his lesson after he had...punished him a bit.
The madman laughed and planned to himself.
Oh, he would have fun soon.
Elsewhere, at the Institution, a new man was preparing himself for the capture and retrieval of "Lucy."
His name was Bando and the first thing to know about the man is that he was a misogynist and a huge jerk towards women.
He also was bloodthirsty and loved killing people, much to the chagrin of his rather pacifistic partner. Most of the soldiers avoided Bando out of fear for their own lives. The man was clearly insane and just used as an attack dog.
He had never really dealt with Diclonii before and figured that it was the same as dealing with a person. Subdue the evil and kick the asses of those who resisted. On the other hand, if they resisted, he would have to kill them.
He liked killing people, it was so much fun.
Licking his lips, he got ready for his important mission. He would have a lot of fun finding this stupid bitch and killing her.
"Um, Bando, sir..." A woman interrupted him.
Bando was ready, he slapped her in the face and knocked her aside. "Move aside, bitch. Didn't a man ever teach you your proper place in society?"
The woman held her side, crying.
"Shut the hell up, you stupid broad. Who do you think you're talking to? Don't whine and moan."
"Stop that, Bando." Some other soldiers protested. His partner grimaced.
"Let me do what I want." Bando said, "Unless any of you want to be a warmup for me." He said smoothly.
Everyone flinched.
He smirked, "I figured as much. You all have no balls. Well, I'll find and capture this Lucy bitch and we'll have ourselves a fine specimen to...experiment on, if you know what I mean."
His partner winced. "I don't like the idea of that."
"I know you're a coward, so I'll handle her." He advised.
His partner nodded reluctantly, wishing he had instead taken a job as a telemarketer. Why had he signed up here to begin with? He didn't like killing people.
Well, a job was a job.
Meanwhile, at the Maple house, there was chaos like usual.
Nyuu refused to wear clothes, no matter how much Kouta and Yuka tried to get her to, and would run all over the house, naked and laughing to herself.
Currently, Sven and Saya had left the house, leaving Train to watch over Kaede, or Nyuu, as her other side called herself.
Train hid his face as Nyuu came toward him, au naturel.
"PUT SOME CLOTHES ON, KAEDE!" He cried.
"Nyuu?" She said, looking at his face closely, as though she recognized him.
"My name's Train. Train Heartnet. Tuuuuraiiiin. Can you say that?" He stressed out the syllables slowly.
Nyuu blinked. "Twain?" She said.
"She's been saying my name, too." Kouta said, "Her vocabulary is improving. I wonder if that's because of your influence."
He smiled sheepishly. "Probably. We did know each other when she was younger."
Train glanced over at where Kanae was sitting on the couch, watching tv and eating popcorn, ignoring all of them because the "creepy girl" was in the room. She had not lessened her suspicion of the girl for a second, despite Train trying to plead on Kaede's defense.
"Look, Kanae, was it...?" He asked, approaching her.
Her violet orbs remained focused on the tv as she replied. "Yeah?"
"Kaede has split personalities. Right now, she isn't the same as you remember her as. She's someone different. So I think it's fair to give her a chance. How about it?" He said.
"I don't care what you say, Mr. Cactus! Your hair looks like you've never combed it before in your life! Plus you're too friendly with my onii-chan." She said.
"C-Cactus? That's a lie, my hair is not like that at all! You look like a grape!" Train cried, giving in to the urge to do childish banter.
"That's enough, you two! Try to get along!" Yuka scolded, acting like her motherly self like usual. "What would your mother say?"
Kanae's eyes flashed. "That's funny, because last I checked, our mother died from cancer! You have no right to act like my mom! What would Dad say?"
"But your dad died in a car accident." Yuka said. "So I thought I could-"
"Don't mention my mother, you don't know what Onii-chan and I went through, you just stood there whining about having him all to yourself, going Kouta, Kouta! Don't you ever think about anyone besides yourself? Also, in case you didn't know, incest is illegal, and you're related! Find your own non-related man!" She cried, her face turning red.
Train flinched, not sure he wanted to get involved in this argument. "Now, guys, let's get along now-"
"I don't care what you think, and definitely least of all her!" She cried, pointing at Nyuu, who was glancing at her with a smile on her face.
"Nyuu?" She came close to Kanae.
"Stay away from me!" Kanae cried, running up the stairs.
"She hasn't matured at all." Kouta muttered.
Yuka was now crying softly. "I know she's always been jealous of me, but couldn't she try to be a bit nicer?"
Train was now thoroughly discomfited, not sure how he could help this kind of messed-up family dynamic.
"Uh, if I might offer a suggestion," He muttered, "Um, I don't know what it's like to have parents cuz, uh, they died when I was young, so uh, maybe you could tell me about your mother?"
Kouta's eyes lit up. "Of course, I'd love to. She was a great person, and so was Dad. I think Yuka has her photo album around here somewhere."
He showed Train a photo of a smiling woman with black hair and the same purple eyes as Kanae.
"There is a resemblance between mother and daughter." Train remarked.
"Mom was every bit as stubborn as Kanae, that's for sure." Kouta said with a laugh.
"My aunt was always like that." Yuka said, wiping away her tears and smiling. "She never took orders from anyone, least of all her husband."
"She could be strict sometimes." Kouta said, "But man, do I miss her."
"What happened to your parents, Mr. Heartnet?" Yuka asked, focusing her gaze on the brown-haired young man, who had fallen strangely silent.
"They were murdered." He said quietly.
"Sorry to hear that." Both of them said.
Nyuu walked over to Train and sat beside him, the only problem being that she was still naked. "Twain!" She cried, placing her hands on Train's cheeks and leaning in and suddenly biting his face.
"Nyuu, you don't bite people!" Yuka scolded.
"Hey, Nyuu, let's get you dressed." Train said.
Nyuu nodded and let Yuka put on her clothes as long as Train was nearby (with his eyes covered, of course, as Yuka didn't want any more perverts in the house).
"At least she's not making any more messes." Train joked.
Nyuu suddenly raced out the door for no real reason, down to the beach.
When she hadn't come back after a half hour, Train felt a bad feeling come over him.
Train suddenly felt his hairs stand on end. Something or someone bad was coming.
Instantly, he stood up, hand reaching for his pistol.
"What's wrong?" Both Kouta and Yuka asked.
"You guys stay here. I think something bad has happened and I'm going to go take care of it." He said, suddenly flying out of the door.
"How does he do that?" Kanae asked, "Is he Batman?"
"He told us that he's an assassin, remember?" Kouta said.
"So he's James Bond?" She said, her eyes wide in admiration.
"No," Yuka sighed.
Nyuu was busy splashing the water around in the ocean, curiously examining it in the palm of her hands.
"Hands up, bitch." A new voice said.
She turned her head in time to see two men standing there and smiled.
"Nyuu!" She cried.
The men blinked.
"Head trauma?" The partner guessed. "She did get hit in the head."
"Head trauma or not, she's still going down." Bando grinned, firing the trigger, but Nyuu ran, soon tripping and falling.
Nyuu was too afraid to do anything as the mean men approached.
"Nyuu...Twain!" She cried, suddenly wanting the nice man to come to her aid.
Bando hit her over the head, knocking her behind an old rusted boat hull.
"Finish her off." He commanded to his partner, who looked reluctantly at her.
But before he could, suddenly his arm went flying off.
He stared at his bleeding arm before his other one flew off, too, followed by his heart, causing his chest to rupture as the man fell to the ground, dead.
"Son of a bitch." Bando cursed, "I'm gonna get you, you little-"
"Lucy" was too fast for him, however, and her vectors blocked every blow.
"I'm gonna get you, you dumb-"
A sudden gunshot rang out, making him temporarily deaf for the moment. He looked down in time to see that there was a bullet shot straight through his leg. He cried out in pain before falling to his knees.
He barely had time to look up before "Lucy" ripped out his eyes, causing him to howl in pain.
"How shall I kill you?" She purred, ripping his arms off. She proceeded to his legs as well, "Now to finish you off."
"Kaede, that's enough." Came a quiet voice from behind her. She turned in time to see Train standing there, looking disapproving. "You've already killed him. There's no need to overdo it. I'm alive, everyone else is alive."
"Train," She muttered. "You...you saw me naked, didn't you?"
Train flushed and turned his head. "Maybe."
She turned scarlet and hid her face. "There might be more of his unit coming here. You could be in danger. Run."
"No," Train said sharply. "Kaede, I refuse to let you get hurt. I'll do whatever I can to keep you safe."
"Why do you always do this, you idiot? Everyone around me dies!" She cried.
"Both your dog and the girl are safe." He said softly.
She looked up, "Of course...I remember them. How is Yukiko?"
"She's fine."
"Train, I need to know something."
"What?"
"Why is your hand on my chest?" Kaede looked enraged and her vectors suddenly shot out, before stopping a few inches from Train's neck.
"You would never kill me, and besides, it was an accident, promise!" Train begged.
"Of course not." He said, before glancing back at Bando. "Should we just leave him here or kill him?"
"Leave him. He's as good as dead, anyway." Kaede said, before she again reverted to Nyuu.
"Are you guys okay?" Kouta asked, "I heard gunshots!"
"Some crazy guy tried to take her, but I handled it." He lied.
"Thank you for saving her. Would you like some dinner?" Yuka asked.
"As long as there's milk to go with it!" He chirped.
Nyuu tugged on his shirt sleeve.
"Twain!" She cried out.
"Yeah, that's me!" He said.
