"I taught you to fight and to fly. What more could there be?"
"There is so much more…"
"What? What else is there?"
"I don't know. I think it becomes clearer when you grow up"
"Well, I will not grow up. You cannot make me. I will banish you like Tinkerbell"
"I will not be banished!"
"Then go home. Go home, and grow up. And take your feelings with you"
Wendy raced into her small house, her eye shining. Soon she was waking up, her face stiff from the tears that had dried on her face. She felt a rocking beneath her feet. Cautiously, she opened her door. She was on a ship. Her foot slid a little on the wet planks beneath her, and she gripped the banister, looking down the stairs and onto the deck of the boat. And… there was Peter. Hook was holding him, his sliver 'hand' hovering above the exposed neck. Peter looked straight up at Wendy, his eyes full of fear and mistrust and… relief? She staggered a little as she realised that he was happy. He was happy to be getting away from her. He… he was… afraid of her. A flash of scarlet, and Wendy sat bolt upright, her face wet, her breathing ragged. Peter turned to look at her, his eyes a brilliant green, awake and alert.
"Wendy?" he whispered. She didn't answer, turning away and swinging her legs over the side of the bed, shivering. He moved over, and sat next to her. Then, with a faint sense of awkwardness, her put an arm around her. Evan after all these years, there was still that tentative innocence that had been there from the start.
"What's the matter?"
"I had a dream. We were in... Neverland. Remember the fight we had? You told me to leave" he nodded, his arm stiffening slightly.
"Well, I dreamt that I woke up on Hook's ship. Only, you were there, and you were about to be killed, and you looked up at me with this… this mistrust and this fear, and I realised that you… you were afraid. Of me! Of the things that I made… the things I made you feel…" she stopped, her eyes glinting.
"But Wendy, that was years ago! And even then, the things you made me feel, they never scared me! I was never scared of you Wendy. And anyway, that was a long time ago! Wendy, I came back! I'm here. And I know that… I know that I… I love you. And I can say it now, too! That boy grew up Wendy. He learned his lesson"
Wendy stood up, and walked to the window. She looked over Kensington garden, where the moon was especially bright, and the ground sparkled with dew. Peter came to stand beside her, gazing at the mysterious scene in front of them. And slowly, very slowly, a mischievous smile slid across his face and there was a sort of… boyish excitement in his next words.
"Wendy… do you want to dance?"
When the keeper of Kensington gardens arrived that morning, he found a young man and a young woman dancing together, barefoot and in their nightclothes on the grass. And he didn't even say anything. He just smiled. After all, it wasn't like that was the first time something of the sort had happened.
A/N: Yeah I decided to just stick with this because I'm lazy. Anyway, just a break from 'High school'. Still writing it!
Hope you enjoyed this one. I had fun writing it, even though Peter seems a little… OD
