Hey all,
I know I said I'd post my notes if nobody adopted this story by June of... forever ago. Sorry. My computer crashed and I lost them all, but here's a quick rundown of what I had planned.
Edit: Found my notes! Here they are!
Third Year: Probably the most boring year of all because there is no escaped prisoner from Azkaban. Mostly character development.
Chosing Classes:
Harry: CoMC + Arithmancy + Ancient Runes
Hermione:CoMC + Arithmancy + Ancient Runes
Draco:CoMC + Arithmancy + Ancient Runes
Neville:CoMC + Ancient Runes
Ron:CoMC + Divination (Just because he's less lazy, doesn't mean he doesn't want to take the easiest classes) + Ancient runes (added after seeing that everyone else was also taking it)
Summer:
Harry's Brithday (Weasleys in Egypt)
-Party with all of Harry's friends (minus the Weasleys)
-Sirius starts Harry's animagus training = meditating and clearing the mind. (Personal Note: The research I did on animagi suggests that a person does not know what their animal will be until after they have completed the transformation. I also found that their Patronus also often matches what their animagus form is, but a person's patronus can change (illustrated by Tonks and Snape in the books), while their animagus form remains the same. Therefore I theorize that people's patronus tends to model itself after their animagus, not the other way around.)
August 31 Trip to Diagon Alley
-Hermione buys Crookshanks
-Harry buys Luna a Raven she was admiring while he was buying owl treats for Headwig. She names him Edgar and Hermione wonders where Luna (being pureblood) ever heard of Edgar Alan Poe.
-Ron comments that Percy used to have a pet rat, but it died of old age a few years back.
-Finish the trip with icecream
Hogwarts Express
-Sit with Remus (who's robes are relatively new)
-Hermione, Neville, Luna, Draco, and the Weasleys are surprised to see him
-Harry already knew he would be there and also explains that Sirius will be substituting whenever Remus is "ill."
-no dementors because nobody escaped from Azkaban.
Halloween
-? (I had yet to come up with anything for Halloween.)
Hogsmead - December 13
Stray Dementors "looking for a criminal" – Harry reacts badly
-Harry & company start learning the patronus charm from Remus ("Call me Professor Lupin during Hogwarts hours." "Yes Remus") in case of future incidents.
Christmas party on the 24th
Sirius gives Harry a new Firebolt
Harry inquires about his animagus training – Sirius continues to insist that he has to keep meditating. Harry decided that his friends should learn too, and Sirius eventually agrees and starts teaching everyone else too.
Continue patronus lessons
Valentines Day
Harry/Luna talk about their relationship and agree that they are too young and that they just aren't ready for each other. They agree to maybe try again after they finish school if they don't find anyone else by then.
Everyone learns patronus by the end of the term except maybe Luna and Ginny because they are still only second years.
Moony exposed somehow?
He must either quit or get exposed as a werewolf. Maybe one of the parents from the ministry lets it out to the press and he has to resign. Either way he cannot teach in year four.
Everyone passes final exams at the top
Fourth Year This is the last year I have a somewhat clear outline for. After this I have a few scattered notes and ideas.
Harry's Birthday
-Sirius brings Harry's animagus training to the next level (actually attempting to change forms by immersing yourself in your animalistic instincts during meditation and allowing it to take over). By the end of Summer Harry sprouts feathers on his arms, but makes little more progress than that. Hermione is still having trouble meditating. Luna is making good progress.
Barty Crouch Jr takes over his father earlier than Cannon.
Quidditch game
-Sirius got his own box "Because I'm from the Ancient and Noble House of Black! Ha Ha Ha!"
-Twins bet with Sirius and win
-Death Eater attack
-B. Crouch Jr uses his father's wand to summon the Dark Mark – Winky is blamed for both stealing the wand and casting the charm.
-Sirius takes Winky in Imediately after because Luna and Hermione comfort her until Sirius is done with his auror duties and all the children beg him to take her in.
Something going on at Hogwarts this year that no adults will tell about – pout pout pout
Express is buzzing with rumors.
Sorting and announcements –Triwizard tournament
-Sirius is professor of DADA (on loan from Aurors)
-Harry upset and surprised that Sirius kept it a secret.
Harry selected for tournament. His friends are mostly loyal. (especially Luna and Neville. The others are skeptical, but come around.)
That is all that I had written down for year four. I was going to have Crouch Jr posing as his father for the entire tournament and be discovered at some point. I can't remember everything I had planned because I did not write it down. Silly me.
Voldemort would have eventually been revived. He would have caused havoc all over and people would be scared. Meanwhile Harry and Co. would have been training like mad until sixth or seventh year when it would all come to a head.
Draco's death In the final battle as written (unedited) in my notebook:
Draco pulls Harry out of the path of an AK.
"That was close."
Harry saw a flash from the corner of his eye and barely had time to push his friend away as a cutting curse come right for them. Harry's eyes widened as the curse more than just grazed Draco's throat. The spell would have decapitated him had Harry been any slower. As it was Harry watched in horror as blood cascaded from his friend's throat and the life faded from his eyes.
No. It wasn't possible. No. No. NO!
Luna saw – Rampages
And that is everything I have written down. There was a lot more in my head, but I've forgotten a lot of it. I think there was something about Draco's mom actually being murdered by angry D.E.s and it being made to look like a suicide. I also think I had planned for Harry and Draco to have a serious conversation where they both confessed that they could see themselves being with the other, but they both think it too weird and let it go never to speak of it again. Though that one might have been a dream… In the end I was going to have Harry defeat Voldemort with the help of his friends and the element of surprise using their animagus forms.
I tried to be original with everyone's animagus forms and marauder names (in parentheses). They are as follows:
Harry - Falcon (Slipstream?)
Hermione - Seal/hedgehog?
Ron - Fox (Firefang or Kitten as a joke)
Neville - Bear (Snuggles as a joke)
Draco - Arctic Wolf (Snowpaw)
Ginny - Margay/Puma?
Luna - Swan (Moondancer?)
Twins - Monkeys of some sort
Hermione and Neville would break up and date other people. Harry would date Ginny for a while, but they would break up and he would start dating Luna for a few years, and they would split. Luna would start dating Draco and they'd plan on getting married after they both graduated. Neville would end up with Ginny a few years after graduation. Hermione would end up with Ron.
During the final battle, even though the protagonists had tried their best to avoid it, it would be the night of a full moon (of course) and there would be werewolves and vampires on both sides, with more on Voldie's. Harry and co. would use their animagus forms as efficiently as possible. Neville would basically tear people apart as a bear and hardly switch over unless he had to while Ginny switched fluidly from biting and clawing as a margay to hexing and cursing. I was planning for Draco to take a cutting hex to the throat and die while fighting back to back with Luna and Luna would scream and transform into her owl and destroy the face of the one who killed him with her talons and beak, then go on a rampage and kill several death eaters and attack Voldemort himself with Harry. The two of them together would eventually get the better of him and Harry would administer the killing blow and the battle would quickly wind down from there, with Death Eaters either surrendering or retreating after they realize what happened to Voldie. After thinks wind down they'd all get medical attention and mourn the loss of Draco. Everyone would have been rather seriously injured in some way.
Harry would become an Auror for a while, but eventually become the DADA teacher at Hogwarts. Ron and Neville also become Aurors, and Ron eventually becomes head of the DMLE with Neville as his "senior advisor," while really they're basically co-heads. Hermione works her way up the ranks in the Ministry and starts implementing laws to make the magical world a better place for everyone (squibs, muggle borns, and non-humans alike), and eventually becomes Minister for Magic. Ginny becomes a quidditch player for a few good years, then eventually decides to settle down and becomes the charms teacher at Hogwarts after Flitwick retires. Luna would travel the world for a while, discovering new creatures and finding new ways to care for known ones. She would do something involving unicorns that I hadn't quite worked out yet, but I liked the idea. She would always carry a picture of Draco and continued to wear her engagement ring.
Eventually Harry and Luna would get married after she returned to England, but they'd always have a little "shrine" for Draco in their home.
I hadn't decided how many kids they all had, sorry. You can decide that for yourselves.
And that's it.
If I were to write this story again there are a few things that I would change. First off, I would spend more time in the before Hogwarts years. I feel like that section of the story was really rushed.
Secondly I would pick two or three characters beside Harry to be the main group. Probably Draco, Hermione, and Luna... Or Draco, Ron and Hermione... or Ginny, Luna, Neville... or Hermione, Neville... or Draco, Luna... Arg! That would be a hard choice, but I think the story would flow a bit better if the main group was smaller.
Third, Sirius would play a bigger roll. It only makes sense, since the title of the story has his name in it and all. I don't know what I was thinking sidelining him like that. Tsk tsk tsk.
Fourth, I would not stick as closely to the books as I did. Things were going to change a lot after second year, but I think it should have deviated sooner. But eh, what ya gonna do, right?
Anyway. I'm sorry it took me so long to put this up. If you're still following this story after this long then you are a rockstar! Thank you for your support. Love you guys.
If you have any other questions about the story either send me a message or ask it in a review and I'll post the answer on this AN at the bottom under "Q&A."
Thanks guys!
Kadtie out.
Edit: Found some notes that I sent in an email. Fixed a few things I forgot. Also! I had a bit of the next chapter title "Blood On the Wall" written so I will put that below the Q&A.
Q&A
Blood On The Wall
The rest of November passed relatively quietly into December. Lockhart continued to receive bad publicity and the howlers continued to increase in both quantity and intensity. The man was beginning to lose his aloof façade and could often be caught muttering to himself. Half the time he didn't even show up to his classes and the students either left or used it as a study period.
The deflated peacock finally decided to attempt to save face on December 17 by hosting a dueling club in collaboration with professors Snape and Flitwick. Most of the students who decided to attend only showed up to see Lockhart make a fool of himself again. The rest of the students—having heard that he was a renowned duelist—simply wanted to see professor Flitwick in action. Whichever the reason, the Great Hall was quite packed when it came time for the demonstrations to begin.
Lockhart started the event with fanfare. His hair was a bit less immaculate than usual and there were bags under his eyes, but he presented himself with his usual flare.
"Welcome students! Tonight my esteemed colleagues and myself are going to demonstrate the art of the Wizard's Duel."
The students clapped courteously and waited for the fun to begin.
"Professor Snape and myself shall do the honors of putting on a mock duel." He motioned to a sneering professor Snape and the two of them squared off on the platform.
"Notice our postures; we are ready for anything." Lockhart seemed sure of himself. Snape looked deadly. "Now. On the count of three. One."
Snape was holding so still he seemed almost like a statue.
"Two."
The way Snape held his wand reminded several in the crowd of a snake ready to strike its prey. Others thought he looked more like a bird about to swoop in for the kill. Either way he looked deadly.
"Three."
"Expelliarmus."
Lockhart had no time to recite his own incantation before he was slammed in the chest by the disarming spell. His wand flew from his hand as he fell to the floor with a painful sounding thud.
Those who knew Snape well saw the glint of mirth in the stoic man's eyes at the sight of the prat hitting the platform.
Lockhart seemed to have been knocked unconscious by the spell, but Snape made no move to revive him. Several seconds passed before Flitwick's squeaky voice pierced the silence with a "Finite Incantatem." Lockhart rose slowly to a sitting position. It only took him a moment to regain some semblance of composure.
"Ah, ye-ye-yes, the disarming charm. A perfect idea to show them that Professor, if I do say so." He rose to his feet and dusted himself off, all the while searching the floor for his wand. When nobody offered it up to him triumphantly he deflated a bit. "I seem to have lost track of my wand, did anyone see where it landed?" He cast his nearly pleading eyes on the students, hope slowly draining from them. This event was not going according to plan at all.
He seemed about to lose all hope when two voices broke through the whispers.
"We've found it professor!"
The Weasley twins held the wand up, each grasping the wood with one hand, offering it innocently up to their desolate professor.
Lockhart's eyes brightened. "There, see? I knew you two weren't as bad as the other teachers let on. Saints I say, the both of you." He plucked the offered wand from the twins' joint hold and smiled at them. They grinned gleefully back. Everyone else in the room knew something was up, but Lockhart just hopped right back on track.
"Right then, enough demonstration, let's separate into pairs and see how you manage shall we? Let's see here… Harry! You can pair up with… Mr. Zabini, over there. Miss Abbot, you can pair up with Miss Brown." He continued pairing off the students, assisted by Flitwick and Snape, until all of the student's were assigned partners. Poor Draco was the odd one out and ended up paired off with the peacock himself. The look of terror on the blonde boy's face showed what he thought of that. Everyone in the Hall understood why, seeing what the man had done to his best friend at the Quidditch game.
Snape and Flitwick would observe the students and make corrections and give pointers as they saw fit.
Harry didn't feel too nervous about being paired up with Zabini. He seemed like a nice enough fellow, even if he had a thing against half bloods and muggle borns.
"Begin!"
The Hall filled with cries of "Expelliarmus!" and a few "Protego"s from a handfull of the older students.
Harry ducked Zabini's curse and fired off one of his own, completely focused on his target. The two of them kept up a good pace until they were both hit in tandem and lost their wands. They locked eyes for a moment and nodded respectfully before scanning the floor for their lost wands.
Ron was out cold in the first five seconds, hit in the gut by an older Ravenclaw's spell.
Hermione held her own against a fourth year Hufflepuff for a few volleys before getting hit in the wrist and losing her wand.
Luna didn't fire any spells, she simply dodged anything her opponent threw at her. She held her usual dreamy look, which seemed to infuriate her attacker until he made a mistake and she sent off her first spell and hit him in the shoulder. The spell ended up not having enough power behind it though, and the boy kept hold of his wand. In her surprise at seeing her spell fail she was hit by the boy's retaliating curse and lost her wand.
Ginny actually managed to take out Pansy after several volleys of spells by both girls.
Neville had been paired up with Milicent Bulstrode. Her spells were powerful, but her aim wasn't so great. She ended up taking out three other students, knocking them completely unconscious, before Neville got in a good hit and she lost her wand.
Draco was white with terror at the idea of getting hit by one of Lockhart's spells, so he scrambled and jumped in order to dodge anything the man sent his way. He occasionally tried to return fire, but he was too flustered to aim well.

The Christmas holiday became a grand affair in which Harry invited all of his friends to stay at the Black Hole for as long as they'd like. Ron and Draco ended up staying for nearly the entire break, only going home to get clean clothes and other essentials. Hermione visited a few times, but her parents wouldn't allow her to stay the night more than once, citing that she was much too young to be staying away from home for so long during her breaks. She explained to Harry that they simply missed her too much to let her stay over too often. Neville and Luna came over at least every other day, but usually returned home for the night, only staying over once or twice each.
Christmas itself was monumental, as it was every year. Molly really outdid herself with the food, and Sirius and Remus teamed up with Arthur to make the decorations simply marvelous.
