Taxi Trouble

Draco Malfoy sneered at the calendar hanging in his office, wishing that the small heart sticker that had been put there by his friend and assistant, Pansy Parkinson, would burst into flames. He loathed Valentine's Day. It was a ridiculous holiday created for stores to make money. People should show love to their significant others every single day of the year, not on one special day. If Draco /had/ a significant other, he would share the love.

He locked the door to his office behind him and headed down the hall, waving to Pansy as he went. Once outside on the busy New York street, Draco hailed a cab. Moments after entering the yellow vehicle, though, another patron got in, and it was someone he had definitely not counted on seeing.

"Malfoy?"

"Potter?"

the two said at the same time, staring at each other with wide eyes. They were interrupted in the process of being surprised by the cabbie asking where they needed to go. They both gave their directions before turning back to each other.

"What are you doing here?" Harry asked Draco, his green eyes still wide with surprise. The two had gone to boarding school together, and had never gotten along. One could say that they were rivals.

"I work at Madison and Barnes," Draco told the other man, his voice void of emotion. He really did not want Harry Potter in his cab at the moment, or any other moment, for that matter.

"Really? I'm one of the custodians in that building." Draco wrinkled his nose. Custodian. Of course.

"I see you've really made something of yourself, Potter."

"I see you're still an arsehole," Harry replied, smiling, which took Draco off guard. He huffed. He was not a jerkā€”he just didn't like people and he was unfriendly. "Your personality aside, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?" Draco faltered. Potter was asking him to dinner? What had the world come to?

"Why should I go to dinner with you?" Draco asked, a sneering tone to his voice.

"Because you're just as alone as I am and it's Valentine's Day," Harry pointed out, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Draco pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.

"If I say yes, will you stop trying to use logic and go back to being stupid?" asked Draco. Harry nodded, and Draco agreed.

"I'll pick you up at eight," the raven haired man said, getting out of the cab.

"Alright... Wait, how do you know where I live?" Harry winked.

"A magician never reveals his secrets."
