You desired my attention but denied my affections. ~ Mumford & Sons

She smiled at the sound of his voice as he answered her call.

"Hi, Dean."

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and she knew he was trying to place her; was trying to remember who she was.

She laughed lightly. "My, how quickly we forget..." she scolded and clicked her tongue disapprovingly.

There was silence, Dean refusing her bait.

She sighed loudly. "Truman High, 1997..."

And she could practically hear the realization click into place.

"Amanda," Dean identified and then paused again.

"Very good!" Amanda Heckerling praised, ridiculously happy to hear him say her name again after all these years. "I heard you were back in town and decided to track you down for old times' sake. You know I still hold you responsible for breaking my heart."

"Yeah," Dean replied distractedly, remembering all too well how he and Amanda had parted back then and wondering why the hell Sam hadn't shown up at the library yet.

"Dean..."

Dean sighed and glanced at his watch. "Listen, Amanda, I'd love to chat," he told her sarcastically. "But I – "

"Your brother got tall," Amanda interrupted, knowing she instantly had Dean's undivided attention at the mention of Sam. "I was kind of surprised, actually." She paused. "But not as surprised as he was when he saw me."

"What?" Dean demanded, his voice growling in that way she had always thought was sexy.

Amanda smiled. "You heard me," she teased and glanced at an unconscious Sam sprawled in the middle of the motel room floor.
